Chapter 80 [Bonus ] CH 76: END OF DINNER

Once Adam heard the question, he smiled while thinking about what to say. The advantage of being able to separate his thought became clearly apparent. At least, he would never be taken aback by a question.

'I should keep my Zone active with my second mind constantly now.'

Thinking so he nodded, to Natasha, "I think it's pretty easy to deduce, but I am an apostle."

Natasha gave a glance at Aleksandra who nodded. This was in line with what they had thought. Humans did not have magical power normally. They needed the support of special weapons for this generally.

The same way the man called smoker could shoot special bullet-filled Prana thanks to his cybernetic arm.

The only other way for humans to obtain magic was to sign a contract with a Celestial. Be it a low-level elemental spirit, a Yokai or a powerful god, devils, and even outer gods.

But now here came the problem.

Celestial supernatural creatures were generally simply mischievous. This went for most Yokai or Fae and Fairies.

Some other Celestials were benevolent. Beings like angels were the best example of this.

Of course, some angels were fucking crazy, but Natasha thankfully never had to deal with the church as Vampire did. They weren't weakened by holy water like those undead after all.

Then there were the Outer gods and the devils. The true problem and the worst beings to contract to. Depending on who you were.

This was why the Academy was created in a way. To teach control and avoid blood baths caused by sacrifice.

'If Adam signed a contract with a malevolent spirit…'

It wouldn't be too late. As long as it wasn't a powerful god, it was possible to call an exorcist and separate them. Even if he lost his power, she was willing to bite him and make him a werewolf if he really wanted to stay in the supernatural world.

'*Cough* What are you thinking.'

Or she could give him a recommendation to the academy. After all, with his power, they would open the gate wide for him.

'Either way, I need to help.'

"What…Hum… Did you have to seal your soul?"

Adam shook his head, "I understand what you are worried about. *Sigh* You remember what happened to me last time? When I went to the hospital not long ago."

"Indeed… Don't tell?"

"Yeah. I faced the serial killer. Well, 'face' is a strong word. I was offed directly without being able to defend myself. But, just as I was about to die, it was then that I meet him or should I say…It? I don't really know.."

Adam initially planned to use his story about Akasha and make a few tweaks but he suddenly had a mischievous Idea. Something he wished to test.

"The god saved me in exchange for me becoming his apostle and spreading his name in the future."

Natasha sighed a little. Gods who onnly needed preachers were generally weak and righteous or at least neutral gods. There was the possibility it was still an evil one, but only a weak evil god made this kind of trick.

If things went south, she could still act and help him.

"I see and what does it call itself?"

Since god wanted a preacher; it should be happy to reveal its Epthitet. Directly using the true name of a god was ill-advised as they could feel when their name was called. The gods would generally not bother if it was someone who did not know better doing so. But if it was someone from the supernatural world, then they might receive a punishment.

Adam's smile stretched wide, "The World."

—--

The rest of the dinner proceeded pretty simply as Adam and Natasha were able to talk more naturally.

In the end, when Adam left, they proposed to drive him, but he adamantly refused. So even Aleksandra decided to not insist.

Natasha thanked Adam once again before letting him go and went back to the dining room. All the others maids had vanished, and only Aleksandra was present.

"What do you think?"

"Well, at least I believe he was not completely telling the truth. As is normal. But it did not seem like he was lying either."

Aleksandra frowned. When she had observed Adam, she had observed absolutely no instability.

But something was telling her that he had not been entirely forthcoming.

"I see. Well, I guess we can only observe for now. Please bring me a detector of demonic aura next time and a few talismans. Just in case."

"From werewolf to excorrcist wannabe?"

Natasha stammered, "Well, he is a friend and he saved my life. This is the least I can do."

"A friend. I see. Very well milady. I will not insist. Speaking of, who do you plan to bring for the event your father is preparing? Mayhap your <Friend> would be happy to help?"

Natasha did not miss the emphasis on the word friend.

"Well, I already have my back covered for this I think. Soon, I will receive an answer. From the agency I contacted."

"Then, let's hope it will end well."

Aleksandra bowed, "Now then, if you would excuse me, I have a work I need to finish."

She smiled with anticipation while taking out a pair of gloves used in surgery. She was sure that he was going to be a fun toy to play with.

—--

On Adam's side, after he left, he was walking calmly while observing the cars on the asphalt.

[Why this specific lie?]

Adam shrugged, "Aren't you curious?"

A grin formed on his face. "I can receive faith, right and transform it in Karma like Lust, fear and love, right?? So I was wondering, what would happen if people prayed to [The World] which is in fact, me?"

Faith was the most powerful and dangerous feeling in this world; There was nothing scarier than facing a true fanatic.

'This could be a good way to obtain Karma.'

He had asked Natasha, the best way new and old gods obtained faith.

The answer to that question was oh so unexpected but also very logical.

"Entertainment."

Adam laughed. Anime, music, movies, video games and so much more.

From what Natasha told him, rather than faith, the first thing any god needed was a belief in its existence. As long as people believed that being existed, then the gods would never vanish.

This was why mythology had become more spread in Media and all the big conglomerates of the media industry had relationships with cults or were formed by cultists.

'We truly live in a strange world.'

[Humans are beyond my understanding.]

"Trust me, humans do not understand each other and generally not even their own self."

It was easy to become lost while growing up. This was what it mean to change.

"Mama, the strange man is talking to himself."

"Shhh…Ignore him and don't point your finger at him. Let's go."

Adam sighed and looked up at the light of the setting sun far on the horizon. A mix of light and darkness spread from afar as Adam mused about the prejudice caused by simple observation and no wish to better understand the other side.

This same comportment shouldn't be taught to children. This was a blasphemy of the highest degree.

In the end, Adam only found a good argument as he stood under the hot water flowing from the showerhead in his home.
