Chapter 96 CH 92: SLOWLY

[K-Town – Wild Hunt Bar]

In an office room inside the gilded bar, sitting behind her desk, Feng Huang Yui was listening to the person speaking from the other side of the phone while three girls were simultaneously working on her nails, feet, and hair.

The three girls had rather ordinary features, very common to Asian people, but they were still quite charming and cute if one took a closer look. Asian people, especially girls, always had that cute charm to them that was not easily encountered in a place like LA.

The voice on the other side of the phone call seemed quite calm and composed.

But their speech had a edge that could be felt sometimes in their tone clearly indicating that the individual was soon hitting the limit of their patience.

"I perfectly understand your hurry with this matter. But do not worry. We will give you the best of the best. Trust me, the wait will surely be worth it."

She listened silently to the individual's reply before nodding in understanding, "I know. The one sent to you will be of around the same age as you and will not shame you during the dinner party. I promise you that."

She grinned charmingly as she responded in a sweet and polite tone, "And a good day to you as well and I once again apologize for the inconvenience and delay."

Her charming smile graced her lips and stayed still in its place until the end of the call. But once the connection was cut off from the other side…

"Fuck!"

The moment she heard the news of the call being disconnected, unhesitatingly, she threw away the phone against the wall— shattering the piece of equipment into a million pieces.

The fact that the girls didn't stop working even after such a violent reaction from her was a testament to their work ethic and experience.

The one who called her previously was a pretty polite young woman who needed someone to escort her to a very very important party. One that would determine her fate.

The fact that said young woman was also the daughter of one of the greatest leaders of the Russian Mafia based in Los Angeles also increased how important Yui saw this deal as. This was one of the game changer clients. Just like how Bridget had been for them at the previous party.

More than anything, however, she had already given her word about finding someone as she had been asked to and if there was one thing that Yui hated the most in this world, it was going back on her words.

Sadly, because of all the recent events, she had been swamped with a mountain load of work and unable to live up to the promise she had made with the polite woman.

Someone knocked lightly before entering, just in time to see the pitiful phone get destroyed.

"You seem angry, boss."

"Oh… I am surprised that you came to this absurd conclusion. Can't you just feel how joyful I am feeling right now?"

Yui's lips stretched to form a sarcastic laugh as Nikola entered the office as soon as the scene of destruction had ensured.

As always, Nikola was draped in her traditional black butter uniform and was wearing a red shirt with a red necktie beneath the traditional butler vest.

Her equally pale-red short hair gave her an even more tomboyish look.

Nikola shrugged her shoulders in response to Yui's sarcastic show, "I believe I found something that will interest you and put you back in a good mood."

Yui was definitely intrigued by her claims.

She needed some good news urgently. This week had been overall draining and a waste of her time.

"We were able to find the whereabouts of that vampire."

Immediately, Yui felt like the cloud in the gray skies had finally parted and gave place to sunshine after a long long time.

"Finally!"

An entire fucking week was wasted chasing after that undead bastard. Until now, they had been unable to find the slightest clues…

'Wait a minute.'

She stretched her right hand, beckoning with it for Nikola to show her the document related to the clues of the serial murderer.

At first, everything was good and logical with the report. It was a thorough investigation that fully outlined every particular detail in a fantastic and cumulative way.

But, the more she read through the report, the more her smile and excitement diminished. In the end, she couldn't help but leak a tone of boiling rage out of her mouth as she spoke…

"So it's a trap."

The report made no logical sense whatsoever even though it was a very good report.

There was nothing wrong with the composition, just the content was something that was out of the norm. For someone who had been able to avoid and escape from all the nets they placed until now, he would not get found out so easily and in such a convenient manner.

"Indeed. There is no doubt that this is a trap. The question here, however, is…for whom, really?"

Yui sighed and closed her eyes shut with a note of lethargy and one of the three girls who had been silent until now simply started massaging Yui's temples with her expert skills.

Meanwhile, the other two girls switched to massaging her calves with their skillful hands in the hopes of alleviating even a bit of the lethargy that their mistress might be feeling.

"Hah… Thanks, girls. You really know my body better than me."

They simply giggled and blushed slightly at her words. They knew very well what Yui was insinuating. After all, they sometimes did way more than a simple massage for her.

Nikola seeing this shook her head and went to take a seat. She knew that when Yui was thinking about complicated topics, she would simply stop talking about them while her brain worked on overdrive.

Rather than disturbing her, it was better for her to stay silent and wait until she received her orders.

Once again, Yui did not disappoint.

Her brain was currently working in overdrive as she was trying to make the connections, finding the missing link so to speak.

In the end, she came to a simple conclusion…

"We aren't the only ones doing the hunting."

Theresa Kaminari had already proposed her opinion that the Vampire was acting too organized to simply be a baby or just a crazy stray.

'Is Theresa herself the goal? or simply just someone from the Department?'

She mused silently in her mind.

Theresa was a Director. Even Yui did not know if she could face someone who was crazy enough to try to lure a Director in a trap. It was necessary to re evaluate her involvement in this whole affair.

In the end, it seemed like she would have to move personally and also call the Alberdini and the Paranormal department for backup and countermeasures.

There was no way in hell she was going to be the one to take all the risks.

"Also, before I forget again, did you send Adam his money?"

Even though they had not been able to open up during this week as all her personnel were busy, the revenue from the first night was still pretty startling for an upstart place such as theirs.

Adam may have not reached the highest rank, but thanks to Bridget Bishop spending money on a good and more importantly— expensive, bottle of wine, Adam was still able to pull in a pretty generous amount.

Nikola shrugged her shoulders, "Do not worry. I may not like him very much, but I respect the results he has achieved. His money should reach him by the end of the day."

"Good."

Yui would have been quite disappointed in Nikola if she blocked or delayed this transfer. There was nothing more ugly than useless pettiness, after all.

"Now… I need to make a few phone calls and prepare for the operation ahead. Go warn Mammoth and prepare our stock of silver bullets and holy water. We are going to hunt down that bitch as soon as we can. Trap or not."

Soon, they would get rid of that pesky vampire and she would finally be able to go back to her main activity.

Making a shit ton of money and increasing her influence.

Nikola nodded but hesitated a little before leaving for her task. Her expression showed her mental struggle but in the end, she couldn't help but ask the question that had been troubling her for a while already…

"I have seen some of Adam's files when I was sending him the money."

Yui looked up, her eyes growing a little cold with each letter that came out of Nikola's mouth…

"And?"

"The new director. Doesn't she…?"

"You want to know if she is interested in a young man like Adam or not, I presume…"

Yui interrupted Nikola with a gentle smile, which forced her to gulp down whatever she was about to confirm with her boss.

In the end, she simply nodded without speaking further about her thoughts, "Indeed. I thought it would be worth giving it a try?"

"Haha. I would like to give it a try too. Now please do as I ordered you."

It was only after Nikola left that Yui relaxed and closed her eyes in delight, "Yes. There. I have been feeling some pain in my back lately."

A massage was truly such a heavenly thing. As for the fact that the Director strangely looked like Adam's mother?

This wasn't her problem, to begin with. Her only goal was Adam's well-being, after all.
