CH 4.3

The smile on Cha Yiseok’s lips disappeared. He now understood what Chairman Cha was saying earlier. She said with a serious expression.

“I also couldn’t believe that singing could cure cancer. The hospital had also given up. However, after asking some questions around, I found out that Chairman Kim and a certain actress were cured of their ailments with the healer’s song. Myunghwan and Father objected, saying they would rather do an exorcism, but I have a different opinion. It’s not that he needs to change hospitals, it’s not that he needs to have a dangerous operation, he just needs to listen to the song. I haven’t done anything to save him, but I want to do something. I heard that the cost is huge, how many hundreds per song?”

“Who knows. I’ve only been putting it on my tab.”

“The young master is also quite…”

The woman covered her mouth and sprinkled her laughter. Cha Yiseok was tired of her reacting to every joke of his. Holding her laughter, she licked her lips.

“Honestly, I feel sorry for the young master. You know you’re the only one I can trust, but you don’t tell me such a thing…”

Paradiso was a place of entertainment enjoyed only by very limited people. However, it had entered the ears of those whom he didn’t want to know the most. Cha Yiseok said, wiping his forehead with his thumb.

“I also hope that my brother’s illness gets better. But to introduce something that is not certain is …”

“I know that the young master cares about him more than anyone else. I’ve been looking around a bit. I still can’t believe it, but if there’s a way, I’ll try anything. I’m trying to convince my father and him somehow…”

The woman’s eyes widened.

“It’s too hard to do this alone…”

She lifted her head as if to wipe her tears away. Cha Yiseok stared dryly at the crying woman. Her watery eyes and the scent of perfume stimulated his cruel desires. His hands twitched with the desire to smash that face against the wall. It wasn’t just because of the drug. Cha Yiseok shoved his hand into his pocket and spoke softly.

“At this rate, my sister-in-law will also collapse. Go get some rest.”

“Yes. Young master…”

She nodded her head and wiped away her tears.

After the woman left, Cha Yiseok picked up his phone. The signal went off and Han Sungjae’s voice came over.

— Hello-

“Your mouth…”

Cha Yiseok’s voice was like a smooth knife. Han Sungjae coughed in vain.

― Sister-in-law was so tearful that I made a mistake after greeting her and getting detained for 30 minutes.

“No. I was the one who took you for a moron.”

— I didn’t talk about Paradiso in detail. I said that we had been there a couple of times for entertainment purposes, so your sister-in-law won’t know the details.

Cha Yiseok narrowed his eyes. Han Sungjae was his first cousin, and was the only friend to whom he could confide in. It was at times like this that he felt that such an existence is useless.

“Can Cocaine make a dead person come back to life?”

— Why? Is Myunghwan in such a critical condition?

“No. I want to test it first.”

— Aye, aye…

Han Sungjae said hurriedly.

― I am having a hard time figuring out what to do after telling her about it. You don’t know how reliable the healer is, and you haven’t witnessed it yourself, have you? Do you have any experience?

“No.”

― Well, since it’s already like this, bring him to your brother. The gentleman is only thirty-five years old now. He was even admitted to the Taeryung family despite Grandfather’s opposition, but when was the last time you treated him as a member of the family? So he has a complex against you. Do it when you have free time.

“I don’t have time either.”

― Still, you’ll be more relaxed than stage 4 gallbladder cancer.

“Isn’t that enough for him to live?”

— Horrible bastard. Are you still acting nonchalantly in front of your brother? If you reveal what’s in your head, he’ll probably collapse foaming at his mouth. Especially Chairman Cha.

“I can only imagine.”

A sweet smile melted into the tip of Cha Yiseok’s lips. He didn’t deny the healer’s abilities, but he wasn’t blindly trusting it either. Cocaine’s songs could wrap around his body and wash away his tiredness. Although he did not experience miracles because he was not ill or injured, he could not ignore this incident because he had heard of the healing powers.

Chairman Cha only trusted statistics, but he was as weak to his daughter-in-law as to his son. Anyway, if Cha Myunghwan’s condition is recovered through a healer, it will become a troublesome bud in the future. Being the stairs to be tread on for Chairman Cha was enough. Sungjae intervened while he was thinking.

― Maybe the reason you don’t want to show your brother is because you don’t want to share Cocaine with other people, is it something like that?

The corner of Cha Yiseok’s lips rose.

“I have no intention of monopolising the song of miracles. Cocaine belongs to everyone.”

If he had been trying to monopolise Cocaine, he wouldn’t have left him there, nor would he have taken Han Sungjae there. No matter how much he shares the women.

“That aside. How about going to Paradiso later? I have to go to heal the wounded soul.”

— Fine.

He finished the call and threw the phone on the blanket. He leaned his shoulder against the large window. A beam of light reflected off the river pierced his eyes. The face behind the glass was expressionless and cold. At some point, a snake that had escaped wrapped around Cha Yiseok’s ankle. The sticky touch cleared his head. He looked at the wall clock. It was ten o’clock in the morning, and the night was still far away. He walked to the kitchen to pick up Soonyi’s food.
