Chapter 183 Update

" I am sorry because of my negligence, young master-" As soon as Steve saw David, he began apologizing. There was no excuse for what happened, but he was confirmed responsible for today's security.

" No one could have predicted what happened today. If you are that sorry, do a better job next time." David didn't have the heart to scold him.

The whole family never took the threat seriously, which resulted in Samuel getting shot. It was not right to put the blame on Steve alone.

Watching Steve struggling for an answer, David sighed. He also sees his other team member gloomy faces.

" Clean up first. We have caught the Sniper; I will give you the first crack at him to keep your mind off things. We must get to the bottom of this."

" Yes, sir. We will make sure to bring good news." It was pointless for him to stay here; Steve left with his team. He wanted to make sure when his boss awoke from his slumber, he would bring the head of the people responsible as the symbol of his return.

Robert was staring lifelessly at the door where surgery was taking place. His parents tried to talk to him. to no avail. He was unresponsive for the most part, just giving a one-word answer when someone asked him a question.

Laura looked at his husband and took it upon herself to console him. She knew more than anyone how fragile her husband was right now.

Everyone respected and adored him for his competence and nobility, like an unwavering mountain that was the keeper of a massive empire. Still, even that monolith shook when faced with the uncertainty of his son's life.

" Everything will be fine. Our son is strong; he will pull through."

" Hmm."

" We also have the best doctors here; just believe in them."

" Yes."

Nothing was working, but she had to be strong for both of them.

Carol also arrived with Hannah; when she got the news, she rushed to the Orphanage to find her daughter crying while Abigail took care of her.

Carol was horrified when she learned the details. After cleaning up, she took Hannah and headed straight to the hospital. Upon reaching the specific ward, she noticed a few familiar faces, they also looked at her, but she ignored them.

" Miss Laura," She asked, which made Laura notice her arrival.

" You are here. Hannah is not hurt, right?" Laura asked.

" No, what about Sami? W-will he m-make it?"

That was the most challenging question for Laura at the moment; she just shook her head and told Carol what the doctor said. Carol almost fainted, hearing that Samuel could die; Laura held her in her embrace.

She still remembers the first time she met Carol; when Elise died, she had the same expression. Laura knew that day when Carol lost one daughter, Samuel gave her hope. She loved him as her own son, but now if she lost him too, Laura doubted if she could handle that.

" M-mother?" Hannah nudged her cloth.

" You can't falter here; if you crumble, who will take care of Hannah," Laura whispered.

Carol knew she was right, but she was blaming her fate; she was lost when Elise fell ill, and when Elise died, she questioned why. But seeing Samuel in the same situation made her feel like she was cursed. What's next? She had to part with Hannah too? These types of existential questions were hovering in her mind.

Oscar and Karoline also arrived, but he didn't want to face any Rothschild family members. Arthur approached him discreetly.

" You are here."

" Yes." Arthur trained Oscar since when he first came to the Estate. With one look, he could guess what the young man was thinking.

" You don't have anything to do with it. Instead of hiding, you should give them support."

" That's what I have been telling him. It is not your fault." Karoline sided with Arthur.

" But if I had been with him, maybe this wouldn't have happened."

" That's not true; we all are at fault for this. What about the others?" Arthur tried to change the topic.

" Father is handling some business now; he will pick up mother and my sister from the airport before coming."

" So, he is already making a move."

" Yes, We also have to ensure Iblis's safety. If his sister could be targeted, we don't know what other crazy things they have planned for his fiancee."

" It's for the best. Don't worry. We will get to the bottom of this. Where ever they are, they will not be able to escape."

Adele was the last to arrive. She came with her mother, Penny, as Aaron informed them about it. Carol had sent him to pick them up if they wished to reach. She didn't know what happened between Samuel and them, but she thought it was best to inform them, and it was up to them if they wished to come.

Hannah rushed toward Adele as soon as she saw her. They might not be related, but Hannah considers Adele as his sister.

" Big sister!" Hannah almost tackled her. She began bawling her eyes out again.

Noticing the commotion, everyone also noticed Adele. Most of them had heard about her but had never seen her in person. Laura could see the maturity exuding from her; she could guess why Samuel worried about her.

She didn't have any exceptional beauty like Iblis, but one could tell that she had gone through hard times in the life of her temperament. Aaron rushed toward her wife and thanked Laura for looking after her. He knew more than anyone what she had been going through right now.

It had been a few hours since Samuel went into surgery. Although it was not a regular operation, it took much more time than everyone anticipated. As more time passed, the atmosphere of the waiting room began to worsen.

Everyone was beginning to despair, but right at that moment, the door of the operation room opened. The Head surgeon walked out with tired eyes; seeing the tense sights in the room, he thought it would be best to give them the news.

" It was close, there was a few time when we almost lost him, but the operation was a success. He is out of danger, but it will be a while before he wakes up." He said with a smile. It was the most daunting operation of his career. Especially when he learned about the patient's background.

For the next few moments, only cheers were heard around the hospital. People whose souls almost left their bodies finally felt alive. Everyone thanked the doctor repeatedly, and Kenneth gave him a blank check for his efforts.

Although he was tempted, he knew about the Dean's warning. He skillfully rejected it, stating it was his duty as medical personnel.

Now that the heir was out of danger, they could move on to other things. A crucial meeting would be held, a joint conference of some of the most powerful entities on this planet. It would mark the beginning of twenty firsts century's darkest day.

As this massacre would coincide with a terrible tragedy.
