Chapter 70.1 – Confrontation

The personnel of the welfare center were evacuated, and the law enforcement team came to the door of Wu Zhengqing’s room.

The door of the room was unlocked, the captain made a gesture, and the team members broke in!

However—

The room was empty.

While others checked the bottom of the bed and under the table, several soldiers held guns and pointed in different directions. This small room could be seen at a glance, and the only visual dead spot was the attic.

The captain climbed the stairs under cover and saw a few scattered books in the attic. The planet model had just been taken out of the collection cabinet, and a backpack was placed on the ground, and two cosmic posters had just been put inside it.

There was dust on the ground, and there were a few fresh footprints.

There were various signs showing someone had just left here.

“…” The captain cursed in a low voice.

They searched the entire welfare center again, almost digging three feet into the ground, and made sure that the person was no longer there.

“We watched him come in,” a soldier said, “There is only one exit and one elevator here. Team B has been guarding outside and didn’t see anyone leaving.”

“What the hell?” the captain scolded, “How did this person fly away like that?”

The soldier hesitated for a moment: “The small skylight in the attic is indeed open. We checked, and there is no foothold outside the window, and no one fell to death. It is impossible that he really has wings, right?” He smiled dryly.

The law enforcement team gathered and left.

Before leaving, they told the staff: “If you see that person named Shi Yuan coming back, notify the law enforcement team immediately.”

Wang Yu couldn’t believe it and asked, “What did he do?”

The captain replied: “He is suspected of first-degree murder. I cannot disclose other details to you.”

“Murder? How could it be!” Wang Yu’s eyes widened. “He would never do such a thing!”

“Whether there is a crime or not is something the court should judge,” the captain said coldly, “We have obtained an arrest warrant and are only responsible for law enforcement and arresting suspects. Whether you believe it or not, don’t contact him in any way. This is for your own safety.”

Wang Yu’s face was whiter than paper.

“You should understand this sentence, ‘knowing the face but not knowing the heart’,” the captain said before leaving, “We have seen too many examples. I don’t know how many victims believed that the murderer was a good person before they were in danger. Madam, I wish you peace and feel free to contact us if you have any information.”

He turned to leave and suddenly frowned.

“What is it?” Wang Yu asked.

“…evacuate immediately,” the captain said, “Everyone evacuate immediately. The monitoring center has just confirmed that in this tower…the infection wavelength of Abyss No.0 has appeared.”

Abyss No.0 appeared again? How could the signal be in the city, here?

Too many things happened in a short period of time, the crowd panicked and confused, and under the command of the law enforcement team, Tower 4 was temporarily cleared.

Wang Yu was walking on the way to the station, her thoughts confused.

‘Does General Lu know? Did he order the arrest of Shi Yuan or did he not know it at all?’ she thought, ‘Obviously, Shi Yuan has been staying with General Lu, why, how did this happen?’

However, the scene of seeing Shi Yuan for the first time flashed in her mind.—

In the scattered forest, the moonlight was desolate, the queen bee fluttered its wings at high speed, and Shi Yuan stretched out his hands to it.

The Queen Bee opened her six feet to Shi Yuan, trying to enclose him.

It was like a predation, and it was also like a hug. Shi Yuan’s expression was calm, as if the monster was his kind.

The tram came and Wang Yu got into the car.

A bunch of people who had just been evacuated was crowded in the car. She took out her mobile phone with difficulty, hesitated again and again, and sent a message to Shi Yuan: [Are you okay?]

No reply.

Meanwhile.

The teenager with the devil horns on his head was hiding in the alley.

He was in the attic when the law enforcement team broke in. He was always afraid of people, and his first reaction was to crouch down his body and sneak a peek.

He saw five or six soldiers, as well as the cold firearms in their hands.

Shi Yuan didn’t understand what happened.

But he had an innate, instinctive intuition. This intuition allowed birds to return to their nests, beasts to seek blood, and also made them move in the wind. He understood that something was wrong, and these people must have come to him, with a very strong hostility that he must avoid.

He must not be caught by them. Shi Yuan had seen how decisive those soldiers were against the enemy, in case… if they knew he was a monster, they would definitely kill him.

He hadn’t confessed to Lu Tinghan yet, he couldn’t die yet.

The only exit was the skylight. Before the captain came up, Shi Yuan turned into a black mist and fled, hiding in the alley in the distance.

But Shi Yuan didn’t know what to do next.

He stayed like this for five or six minutes, and before he could clear his mind, he heard footsteps approaching.

The patrol team in the entire area had taken action, acting with the law enforcement team, and it was no longer safe there. With such a huge momentum, he must have caused a lot of trouble.

The only safe place… The only absolutely safe place with no one was the wasteland.

The sound of footsteps got closer and closer, accompanied by the buzzing sound of drones.

Shi Yuan stood up and turned into a black mist again and ran outside the city.

He hadn’t been out of the city for a long time, and the outside of the city was both foreign and familiar to him. The sky was still beautiful, the rich colors were like oil paintings, the weeds were still messy, and several insect-shaped creatures fled in panic. He didn’t run far and came to the nearest short woods. Sitting on a tree stump, he was in a daze for a while, and then took out his mobile phone.

He wanted to send a message to Lu Tinghan.

Obviously, Lu Tinghan was an Alliance general and the one who wanted to kill monsters the most. He didn’t hesitate to go to the front line again and again, and he didn’t hesitate to die for the city. His determination was commendable. Obviously, Shi Yuan was still unclear whether this arrest warrant was approved by Lu Tinghan, whether Lu Tinghan misunderstood something, and how much truth he knew; Obviously, he should not expose his movement.…

Shi Yuan still opened Lu Tinghan’s message box.

The cursor flickered, and the last chat record was Lu Tinghan replying to him: [Good night, wait for me to come back]

Shi Yuan curled up his tail sadly.

He thought about it and didn’t know what to say, so he typed a line: [Where are you?]

Before sending it out, he deleted it again and replaced it with: [There are a lot of people trying to catch me, I’m so scared]

He deleted it again, and finally just carefully typed a line: [Lu Tinghan, can I meet you?]

He mustered up the courage to press the send button.
