Chapter 22 [Otto City’s Request] Part 2

Then, we arrived at the reclamation village that we heard about.

Many trees were chopped down, several adventurers put up tents at the site of an old house, and I inferred that they’d been staying there for a while.

However—-

“So awful……”

There were spurts of demon blood everywhere, clothes stained with body fluids, the ingredients sent as part of the reclamation project in discorder, and the finished sake bottles were scattered about.

Rather than calling it a village, I didn’t think it was a tent village.

“Excuse me! I came here under the logistic support request!”

“A new one came! Heyyy, call the inspector!”

“Gash-san, you got a visitor!”

Maybe because he was tired of this reclamation lifestyle, but a young man got up unsteadily on his feet and came to us.

However, he was disappointed after seeing me and Tet.

“Haa, two girls huh. Well, I guess the meals at least will be decent.”

“I’m Chise. And that’s Tet. And you?”

“Ahh, I’m Gash Gaspar, the inspector of this reclamation project and supposed to be inaugurated as the governor after the village gets on track.”

“Gaspar… If I remember correctly, that’s this reclamation project’s……”

“That’s right, I’m technically a member of the kingdom’s earl house, but… well, I’m the good-for-nothing seventh son.” 1

Although he’s a noble, up until the third son could obtain a position and a job, but it seems like the rest don’t have a place to go.

Therefore, they’ll get mixed in among the commoners, become military officers or civil officials, and become independent by producing results like this reclamation project.

“For the time being, what’s with this? This situation.”

While wearing my hood, my stern look turned toward the adventurers who were sloppily sleeping in the tents, and the person concerned scratched his head with a troubled face.

“Even if it’s called a reclamation project, it’s just reconstruction of a village that was destroyed by attacking monsters. That’s why, I thought it’d be over after we chopped down the trees around here, exterminated the forest’s monsters, and called people, but…”

“They don’t have life skills, so it’s chaotic.”

Also, even if the inspector is the seventh son of a noble, they’re more a less still a noble. Their life skills are nonexistent.

They haven’t established a housing site, and probably because it has been left alone for a long time, the place that seems to be old fields had been encroached by trees and shrubs.

Their situation was that they barely had any life infrastructure.

I was really not fine at all as I pushed against my temple with my fingers.

“Well then, Gash-san. Usually, how many people are there that are part of the reclamation project?”

“Four parties, 20 people. They’re nearly all males.”

Married adventurer males, who wanted to have a family, steadily save up money and buy a field somewhere one day.

The people here are mainly unmarried adventurers.

If this reclamation project succeeds, they’d be in possession of the house that they would settle into and a plot of land, and the adventurers that leave will be paid a reward by the earl house instead.

In order for the development project to succeed, they needed to take in 50 people, no wait, in the near future they need to accept around 100 people.

“For the time being, I want a place for each party that can properly repel rain and wind. For that to happen, we need to restore roughly five houses. Tet!”

“Got it, nanodesu!” —-<<Block>>!”

Tet put her hand on the nearby housing that wasn’t in use.

When she did so, the dry walls of the left behind houses collapsed and scattered.

“Uwa!? What are you doing!”

“It’s fine, so just watch.”

The stones that Tet broke down were made by Tet’s earth magic, the ragged stones were cut like clay, and the size of the stone became uniform building stones.

Then, they piled up neatly on top of the foundation of the old house, and four-sided walls were completed in no time.

“Ah, Majo-sama, there’s no ceiling and entrance.”

“Well, then create an entrance and make a triangle with two sides of the walls. I’ll hand over a beam and hang a cloth.”

“Yes~nanodesu!”

We modified stuff along the way, and completed a house with two old house ruins.

“Ohhh, amazing……”

“For the time being, the adventurers who came to reclaim the village should use this house. It’ll be troublesome if you put a tent around here. Keep up that work, but don’t overdo it!”

Tet started building the second house, while on the other hand, I checked the status of the reclaimed land.

“The construction of houses will be left to the people who join later—-Gash-san, do you have an old map of this village or something?”

“Eh, t-there isn’t one!”

“Then, can you write the current situation of the village on paper, tree, or anything.”

“Y-Yesssss!”

Gash-san was threatened by the younger me and began to prepare in a fluster.

I wonder if it’s all right for this kind of person to manage the reclamation village. No, it’s because of these kind of people, does the situation become like this.

“Ohh, amazing, Gash is listening to what she says.”

“Even if we say that, we requested earnestly that we wanted alcohol, but we were shooed off.”

“No mistaking it!”

Towards the adventurers that were cracking jokes, I sternly glared at them.

“We control the foodstuff, so don’t think you can keep drinking alcohol foolishly like before.”

“Hey hey, don’t do that to us! It’s our sole enjoyment!”

“He’s right! Even if the pay’s good, there’s no entertainment in this reclamation village! Don’t f*ck around with me!”

Well, looking at the situation, you’re quite right.

“Do you… Have… A complaint?”

I released my mana with all my might and overpowered them.

The adventurers that were catching some Z’s were flustered at my overpowering state, and I stopped releasing my mana when they woke up.

“I’ll do my job. I can’t afford for you guys to put your hand on the village’s foodstuff that we should be managing. In exchange, you’re free to eat the monsters that you hunt while reclaiming, and you’re free to to sell it to earn cash. You’re also free to sell it yourself to the merchants that come to this reclamation village.”

“We understand. Sorry.”

Silenced by my intimidation, the lead adventurer stayed silent by rational persuasion.

“Majo-sama~, the house is completed~.”

“That so, well then, all you adventurers should go use those houses! Of course, I’ll clean up the trash at the place I’ll be using and bundle it up, and incinerate it.”

Hearing that, the adventurers that woke up due to my intimidation began to slowly move.
