Chapter 2 [First things first, discipline is important.]

“Ohh, Jou-chans. I’ll be in your care today!”

“Yes, likewise, we’ll be in your care today.”

Just heading to the dungeon city was dull, so Tet and I received a request to escort a group of merchants heading in that direction.

During the year of detours, there were a few times where we’ve accepted escorting them after rescuing people from monsters or bandits, so we’ve had some experience with escort requests, just not through the guild.

When Tet and I received a request for an escort through the guild, we showed our guild cards to the client, and he looked surprised.

“Jou-chans, you’re so young but you’re already a C-rank at that age?”

“We raised it just now though.”

“Oh, good gracious, you’re good.”

I was inwardly relieved to see that they didn’t seem to hold me in disdain, dressed as a magician with a hood pulled over my head.

As the adventurers who had been asked to escort them began to gather and introduce themselves to each other, one group of adventurers stared at us disapprovingly and bumped into us.

“What happens if a woman and a child participate in the escort request and we fail? Or is your plan to have other adventurers protect you so you can fulfill your request?”

I let out a deep sigh under my hood at their plain-as-day demeaning attitude.

There are some adventurers that have a male-dominated mindset.

It is true that the world of adventurers is a male-dominated society with a larger percentage of adventurers being male if I had to say.

However, there are excellent female adventurers as well, and when cooperation between fellow adventurers is necessary, what’s the deal with the other adventurers that aren’t stopping this?

“Hey, say something. You midget!”

All right, I’ll accept this fight.

“Tet.”

“Yes~nanodesu!”

When I instructed as if used to doing this, Tet punched the adventurer who complained in the stomach.

“Well then—<<Heal>>.”

The other party who was struck in his abdomen by Tet had his pain alleviated with my healing magic and lifted his head up.

He showed a dumbfounded expression as if his consciousness flew away for a moment due to the struck abdomen.

“Ugh, I…”

“Tet accepted that fight and struck you because you made undeserved false accusations at us.”

“B*tch, how are you!”

“One more~nanodesu!”

The other adventurer came at her, and this time Tet’s straight left punch caught him in the face.

This time, the adventurer prepared a body strengthening in advance, so Tet put even more force into her strike.

“Okay, he’s alive. As expected of an adventurer—<<Heal>>.”

After being healed again, the opponent got up and looked at us with frightened eyes.

“W-What the hell? You guys…”

“Well then, now you know what we’re capable of, right?”

With that said, I directed my mana coercion towards the adventurers who had looked down on us.

The other party trembled, and after my intimidation was over, my colleagues criticized me.

Afterward, the leader of the adventurers this time who was watching attentively and was responsible for this escort request smiled and spoke to Tet and me.

“What a disaster. You’re concealing your mana, aren’t you?”

“Yes, I am. How did you know?”

“I felt you had too little for a magician. That’s why, on the contrary, I thought you were curbing it. Well, I guess this can only be determined by at least a C-rank adventurer.”

The older adventurer kindly taught me.

In other words, it seems that D-ranks will look down on me, and C-ranks will not know how much mana I have but think of me as someone who deserves my rank.

“Thank you. I’ve only been an adventurer for about a year, and I’m not very experienced, so it was really helpful to learn from you.”

“No problem. I’ll be relying on your recovery magic during the request.”

After our short conversation, the time for the departure of the group of merchants had arrived, and our escort request began.

The escort request, scheduled to take three days, went well.

Occasionally, monsters attacked us, but each person handled them well and defeated them.

However, the other adventurers seem to be getting angry at the first adventurer that Tet and I disciplined and getting mentally exhausted due to being on guard against—as if frightened of—me and Tet, in addition to being alert of his surroundings.

Once again, the food I prepared was instant soup and other foods that I had prepared with [Creation Magic] when we made camp, and when we ate, I was asked for soup by other adventurers and merchants who were escorting me. Like before, I had to sell it for three copper coins per bowl.

At night, we took shifts being on guard duty and sleeping in the tent.

The only complaint I had about the escort request was that I couldn’t take a bath in the bathtub that Tet had created by manipulating the earth and storing hot water in it with magic, only being able to use the cleaning magic <<Clean>>.

This sort of group restricts our actions, so I think it’s better to be alone with Tet than in a group.
