“Forget it, I’ll give him the money later. Since these things are already here, take whatever you like. Otherwise, the food will be wasted.”
Shen Yin’s colleagues cheered the moment Shen Yin said that. The entire police station rejoiced as if it was the new year.
Policemen worked hard all year round, received a meager salary and often did the most dangerous and exhausting jobs. After working for so many years, they had never received such good benefits. Everyone in the police station was even more grateful and respectful towards this young forensic pathologist.
After distributing the things that Lian Jing had sent, Shen Yin finally had the time to call him. However, no one picked up the call. She remembered him saying that he had a meeting, so she set aside the matter of reimbursing him.
When Meng Heng and Wu Zheng visited the victim’s house, they had discovered something unusual about the family.
“The parents of the deceased, Lu Feng, are divorced. The person who reported the case, Chen Ke, is not his biological father. After his biological mother, Lin Hui, divorced her ex-husband, she married her current husband and her son stayed with them. According to the couple, Lu Feng has always been a quiet child with good grades.”
After Meng Heng briefly explained the Lu Feng’s family situation, Zou Sheng immediately explained the problem between Lu Feng and his mother, Lin Hui, that he had learned from Liang Wei.
Wu Zheng nodded and continued, “During our visit, we also realized that Lin Hui and Chen Ke do not have a good relationship. However, they tried their best to hide this from Meng Heng and I. Little Meng guessed that whatever is going on between them might be related to Lu Feng’s death.”
Meng Heng nodded. “When Chen Ke went to the police station to report the case three months ago, he said that Lu Feng would come home every day. However, that Friday, Lu Feng never came back from school or answered their calls. The two of them even went to the school to look for him, but no one knew where Lu Feng had gone. Only then did they call the police to search for him.”
Zou Sheng was a little suspicious. “Don’t all university students choose to live on campus?”

Zou Sheng turned on his computer and immediately started working.
Suddenly, her pocket vibrated. Shen Yin looked at her phone, then went out of the office to answer the call.
“Yin Yin, I was in a meeting just now. Did you receive the things? Do you like them?”
Shen Yin sighed. “Lian Jing, I’m very grateful for the things you sent over, but don’t send such things in the future. I don’t want people to gossip about me. How much did those things cost? I’ll transfer it to you.”
The man on the other end of the line was silent for a moment. Then, he chuckled and said nonchalantly, “I don’t need you to return my money. If you really feel bad or feel that you owe me something, you can treat me to a meal. How about that?”
