Chapter 11

Chapter 11

In front of Berthas, who had opened his eyes, there was a woman with blinking eyes. He uttered, kissing the woman lightly to make her focus on him.

“Why are you doing this?”

“You have to let me go in order to get out.”

The woman couldn’t get out of his arms as he fell asleep with her in his arms.

“Yes, why?”

She liked the touch of his skin. The woman then twisted her body as she rubbed her body with his arm, “What are you doing in broad daylight?”

Thinking it was cute, Berthas opened her mouth to the woman.

“Originally, it doesn’t matter if you do it day or night.”

“Is that…true?”

“Ahahahaha!”

“Why are you laughing?”

He kissed the woman’s face all over as she tilted her head as if she really didn’t know. As Berthas continued to laugh and kiss her, she slapped him, telling him to stop.

‘She is so cute…’

He found the woman’s behavior so cute because he always saw only young noblewomen and bear-like men. It ranged from women who couldn’t talk to him to women who openly tried to seduce him.

However, there was no such woman among them.

“You’re cute.”

The woman blushed at his words again.

Her body was red because he did it a bit harshly yesterday. She still seemed unaware that she wasn’t clothed. If not, she could be a high-ranking noble. They weren’t the ones who wore clothes themselves.

Judging from the woman’s behavior, it was difficult to determine her identity.

It was clear that she did not receive the proper s*x education that all nobles receive. Regardless, every single gesture she made was of a nobleman. Her outstretched fingers were elegant, and grace flowed.

He was convinced as he saw the woman reaching out her hand to him yesterday. It was clear she was a noble. She knew exactly how to reach out to a man — Berthas guessed, seeing her hands stretched out in the manner of a noble.

If she hadn’t guessed his identity, she would have reached out in a commoner way.

Thinking pleasedly, he ended his judgment. She revealed that she was a mercenary, but when inferred by the color of her eyes, she could be a woman from a small country, and although her identity was unknown, it was clear that she was a noblewoman.

She was demanded by vassals to marry, and in the end, she would have chosen to run away. Berthas finished his calculations. It seemed like it would be fine.

“What are you thinking?”

Though he laughed again at her clumsy words, he pressed them down.

“Where are you from?”

“No… that’s…”

The woman who hesitated asked him back.

“What about you?”

“…You?”

“Is it odd?”

The woman’s way of speaking was polite. Even when he saw the woman using court mannerisms, he thought she was cute.

‘What is this written on those eyes?’

“It’s okay.”

“What is?”

“It’s good to listen to. Your way of speaking.”

“Are you a noble, too?”

When the woman asked, Berthas nodded his head. Looking at her, who was in thoughts, he smiled and hugged her body. The warmth that reached him was pleasing to him.

“Why?”

“I like it.”

As he said that, he whispered to her, blowing wind into her ear.

“Sleep some more.”

“I asked you to let me go.”

“Sleep more.”

Her eyes closed automatically.

Isilis tried to get her body out, although it was impossible. How could a wizard defeat a man who appeared to be a knight just by force…?

She thought about using some magic to get out, but she decided to just stand still. The body temperature was also quite pleasing to her. He was the one who made her know last night what the handmaid had said that it felt like floating in the sky.

‘I have to keep doing this to have a child.’

She was determined, thinking she could do it if he asked to do it dozens more times. She would stay with this man until she had a child.

Last night, it looked like the man whispered something at the end, but she couldn’t remember.

‘…It’s weird when I remember what he did.’

It was she who tried her best to comfort herself. It felt peaceful. Away from work, she had never had such a peaceful time. It was the first time. Someone was hugging her tightly. Isilis hugged him and slept. He also told her to sleep more.

Everything was the first time… Every moment with the man was the first time.

Even though she shut her eyes again in his arms, she couldn’t sleep. As she wiggled, she felt the man’s hand holding her tightly.

Isilis, as she felt the man’s body temperature, fell into thought. The time to have a child was one month.

Within a month, she had to see it resolved somehow…

There was no time. Confirming that the man was sleeping deeply, she put on her clothes. She cast the sleep spell again, so he wouldn’t be able to get up for a while.

Wearing the robe, she performed space-transportation magic.

* * *

“Who…!”

The man shouted at Isilis, who suddenly appeared, and she opened her mouth.

“Finding some fruit wine.”

The man with surprised eyes looked at her.

“You have to go to a regular pub to find it.”

“But, that doesn’t mean the moon doesn’t rise, right?”

“What color is the rising moon?”

“Blue.”

At her quiet voice, the man glanced up and down at her and opened his mouth.

“Come this way.”

She followed the man into a secret door and into a large office.

“What?”

“There is a guest.”

The man sitting at the desk raised his head. It was a face she hadn’t seen in a long time. Her one and only cousin. It was Faylos.

“Fayl.”

“Ilis.”

As soon as she took off her hood, it was he who looked at her with a startled look, “I heard you were on vacation… I didn’t know you’d come here and find me.”

“I’m here for business.”

“It seemed so. Sit.”

He was still the same, speaking casually to her.

“Satisfied?”

Faylos laughed at Isilis’s reckless remark.

“Of course. Here I am, the king.”

“If you hadn’t left the palace, I think you would have committed treason.”

“Of course it is. I cannot live under other people.”

There was a faint smile on her face at his words.

“I still wanted you to stay by my side.”

“The Empress who leads this country is speaking weakly?”

Isilis smiled brightly towards Fayl, who was staring at her with serious eyes.

“If you’re going to say something weak like that, then stop. As I always say, if you give me the position, I will take care of it.”

“It’s funny that you, who know my greed, say that.”

He smiled at the sight of Isilis speaking with a snort.

“That’s how you are.”

Fayl, five years older than her, hasn’t given her high praises since their childhood. The people of the Imperial Palace scolded and consoled him, though he did not improve. After her aunt’s son, Fayl, kicked the Grand Duke position given to him, he disappeared and was where he is now.

“So, why are you here? The monarch of this country?”

“I need information.”

“Information?”

“Information on father’s death. Wouldn’t you have it?”

Watching Fayl hardening his face at her words, she had a gut feeling that she wasn’t wrong.

He was the one she thought of the moment she heard the obituary that her father had died on the battlefield. It made no sense that her father, who was second to none in swordsmanship, died because he could not dodge someone’s sword.

There, her father also had a magic weapon with her mother’s powerful protective magic. But, he was attacked by a blind sword on the battlefield…?

Faylos, who gazed into Isilis’s eyes, sizzling with anger, opened her mouth.

“I did my research, but there is not much information. On the contrary, the more I look, the less I know. A lot of strange information came out.”

“Strange information?”

“Something like that…? Corruption?”

“Give me all that.”

“…Give it all to you? What are you going to give me?”

“I’m just going to leave your work like this.”

“What?”

“It is a felony not to bring the information that should have come to the Empress. So, I need to wipe it all out, but I’ll let it slide.”

“What?”

“If you find it unfair, am I not the Empress?”

“Ha!”

Although Faylos snorted as if he was dumbfounded, Isilis didn’t care.

It was not an impulsive reason for her to choose this place among many. It was meticulously calculated… The fact that the Empress herself left her work for a month for a vacation was a tactic to get rid of all the impure elements in the imperial palace.

Everything that happened in the palace while she was away was being recorded in the video recording sphere. She paid close attention for days and days as she installed it without missing a single one.

However, this was the only way. She couldn’t trust anyone — Even the handmaid who served by her side… Even the chief handmaid who raised her from an early age… Even her assistant who assists her…

She couldn’t trust anyone.
