CH 26

Chapter 26 - "The Cliche Again, But….”

The next day, after breakfast, Martha, the inn's signature girl, came running to me.

“Rolando-kun, it's been three days. Do you want to extend your stay?”

“Well, I don't have any money on hand, so I'll think about it after I get my reward from the Adventurers' Guild.”

“Okay, I understand.”

With that, Martha returned to her serving duties at a leisurely pace.

I had gotten to know her quite well, and she now treated me in a more friendly way.

That was how I came from the inn to the Adventurers' Guild, but things were not looking good here.

Before entering the guild, I looked for any sign of him, and it seemed he was there again.

I entered the guild with wishful thinking in my mind that nothing would happen to me, but as soon as I entered the guild, trouble was soon brewing.

“Lovelace-san, please, enough! I'm busy.”

“Don't be so hard on me. Isn't it fine if you at least have dinner with me?”

I see, so you're picking on her....... It seems that in any world, there is a fixed market for what idiots do.

And the one being picked on was Marian, that big-boobed nee-chan with glasses.

Good grief, have you ever looked at your own face in a mirror? A beautiful woman like Marian would never be dominated by someone like you, who looks like a piece-of-shit orc.......

“Hey, if you don't have any business, can you please get out of my way? You're in the way.”

Lovelace reacted to my words and looked back toward me. I was still feeling a sense of disgust at his villainous appearance, but this time I couldn't let it go.

I wanted to hide my abilities and continued my adventuring activities, but I wasn't so heartless that I could turn a blind eye to a woman in trouble.

“What is it? Are you deaf? I said get out of the way.”

“You're the kid I beat to a pulp, aren't you? Are you still trying to fight me after getting beat up so much?”

“You hit me, alright. But I haven't got a single scratch on me from you. Well, it doesn't matter, I've got a return match for you, you piece-of-shit orc. I would have let you off the hook if you hadn't done anything, but your words and actions have gone too far.”

“W-who are you calling a piece-of-shit orc!!”

“….Follow me. I'll show you the difference between us.”

I left him with that and quickly headed for the training ground. If he didn't follow me, I would be very embarrassed.

Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way, and Lovelace stepped into the training area with his shoulders hunched and cracked his neck in a very determined manner.

Many of the other adventurers were also interested in our fight, as it was a continuation of the previous one.

“The rules are simple. The loser loses. No need to go easy. You can even kill if you want.”

“Oh, are you sure you want to say that? Then I'll kill you without hesitation!”

“Marian, I'm sorry, but you're gonna have to be the judge.”

“Y-yes.”

As in the previous fight, Marian was the referee and it was a real mock battle, but if there was any difference from the previous fight, it was that it was a deathmatch, in which killing the opponent did not result in a loss by foul play.

Both participants maintain a certain distance and stared at each other. Lovelace was serious, and this time he drew his own weapon, a sword, instead of using his bare hands.

I had no intention of going easy on him, so I pulled out my short sword and held it at the ready.

The adventurers, who were watching with bated breath, could sense the seriousness of the two fighters, and they waited for Marian's signal to start the match.

“Then both sides are ready. …Then let's begin!”

“Phew.”

“W-what!?”

As she signaled the start of the match, I kicked the ground and approached Lovelace. Naturally, since I was using magic to strengthen my body, my speed was quite fast.

When Lovelace noticed my approach, my dagger knocked his sword away from his body and placed the blade against his neck.

The people around us had no idea what had just happened, and most of them looked wide-eyed and stunned.

And when Lovelace realized what was happening, he let out a near-roaring cry with a look of anger on his face.

“N-not yet! I’m not dead yet!”

“Can't you see that you are going to die?”

“Shut up! This is the end aaaaaahhh!”

Lovelace fell for my cheap provocation, picked up the sword I knocked off, and attacked me.

It would have been easy to avoid such a large swinging attack, but I had already won the game.

“This is the end. [Aquaball]”

When the water magic was shot, it hit Lovelace directly in the face. Normally, the ball of water would have popped off and disappeared, but it did not.

It remained on Lovelace’s face due to the power of my magic control and magic manipulation.

Lovelace tried to remove the water that covered his face, but since the water was just water, he reached out to remove it, but it slipped through his hand.

Meanwhile, his breathing continued to quicken, and finally, he could no longer stand it longer, and he fell forward and stopped moving. It was asphyxiation.

As soon as Lovelace fell down, I released the magic and put my hand on his chest. It seemed that he was still alive, but as I looked at him, his complexion was turning pale and his breathing was becoming shallow.

“A-and that's it!”

“I suggest you go get a healer as soon as possible. Otherwise..... he's really going to die, you know?”

“Y-yes! Right away.”

Hearing my words, Nicole rushed off in a hurry. A short time later, the healer man arrived, but as soon as he saw Lovelace, I could see his face become stern.

He seemed surprised to see a patient in a really dangerous condition when he had apparently thought that Nicole had made a hasty decision again. Nicole, how untrustworthy can you be?

The adventurers then carried Labras up and took him to the treatment room. The remaining adventurers, who probably did not expect such an outcome, were in an uproar, glancing at me as if they were curious about me.

“R-Rolando-san…”

“Well, we both fought knowing that this could happen. Or would you have preferred that I had just cut his head off with my dagger?”

“I'm not saying you have to go that far, but….”

I guess my action against Lovelace was not very praiseworthy, but that didn't mean I could be punished for my action, and Marian had an indescribably complicated expression on her face

(This is a little early, but maybe it's time to leave.......)

Judging from the reactions of the people around me, I decided that it might be better to leave the city, so I asked Marian for a reward for the herbs I had delivered to her.

This time, since I had delivered a considerable amount of herbs, I was rewarded with four small silver coins and six large copper coins. Four thousand six hundred yen.

After receiving my reward, I was about to leave the Adventurers' Guild when Marian, sensing something in my mood, approached me.

“U-um, Rolando-san.”

“Yes?”

“I may have gone a little overboard this time, but there will be no penalty for you and we look forward to working with you again.”

“Thank you.”

I only thanked her for her words and left the Adventurers' Guild this time.

I went to a store that sells adventurer-related tools to prepare for my trip, and I bought the things I needed.

With little money on hand, I was able to purchase only the bare necessities, such as portable food storage and a simple tent.

“This means I've got to get to the next town as soon as possible.......”

Having avoided the route of becoming a poor lord of a poor estate, but grimacing at the fact that I was forced to live as a poor man, I headed back to the inn before leaving this town.

At the inn, Misana and the other people working at the inn were busy, but once I returned to my room and checked to make sure I had not forgotten anything, I said a quick farewell to both Misana and Martha.

“What a sudden departure.”

“Thanks for everything.”

“Rolando-kun, are you really leaving town? Even though we've become good friends......”

“I'm sorry.”

I thought it would be hard to say goodbye, so I said a short, simple farewell, but I felt it was tasteless in return.

I thought it would be hard to say goodbye, so I said a short, simple farewell, but I felt it was too tasteless.

I left Brilliance Drop after Misana's words that I would be welcome if I ever came back to this town again.
