CH 19

After exchanging information, Nagasawa asked Kakashi and the other two to find a small inn to stay in while he went back to Morishita’s house.

First of all, he couldn’t blow his cover for such a trivial mistake. Why would someone with a family sleep at an inn? It obviously would raise suspicion.

Second, he wanted to try to find any hidden information. Although he had already looked through everything in the afternoon, it never hurt to be cautious.

He found the data about Anbu Members in Morishita’s office. Unfortunately, it was only the information about the Squad Morishita was in charge of, and the three Anbu that were held captive in Konoha were not among them.

He planned to check other Vice-Captains’ offices. There were only four Squads in total. Excluding Morishita’s Squad, there were only three Squads left. If he was lucky, he might be able to find them right off the bat.

Opening the door of the house, Nagasawa once again entered this strange house.

He first confirmed Morishita’s condition. Although he was very confident in his sealing technique, it never hurt to be cautious. This was one of the reasons why he did not come with Kakashi and the rest.

Nagasawa opened the door of the small room and saw a young man lying in the darkness. He added a seal and closed the door in relief.

After returning to the bedroom, Nagasawa sat on the tatami and prepared to refine his chakra.

The template was not at 100% yet. Before it was completely integrated into the body, the template’s ability could not be strengthened through training, so he could only train his chakra-related power.

Of course, this kind of training was much slower than using points, but he was used to it.

However, not long after, he sensed a Shinobi’s presence with Color of Observation Haki approaching the house quickly.

Nagasawa frowned and ended his training. He stood up and walked to the hall.

Not long after, there was a knock on the door.

Nagasawa opened the door, and a Shinobi wearing an Anbu uniform appeared in front of him.

“What’s the matter this late?” Nagasawa asked while using all his might to check if there was a group of Shinobis nearby.

Nagasawa was very confident in himself, but at the same time, he was very cautious. The probability of being exposed was very small, but it was not zero.

The Anbu quickly said, “Morishita-sama, the leader wants you to go to the base now.”

Nagasawa nodded. He had already checked his surroundings and found no other Shinobi, so he should be fine.

Of course, there was always a chance that his cover was already blown, and he was being led to an army of Anbu.

If that really happened, Nagasawa would have to beat the Kusagakure Shinobis to submission and take the information he was looking for once the enemy was taken care of.

With Kusagakure Anbu leading the way, Nagasawa soon entered the Anbu base and saw Kusagakure’s Kage.

Aside from him, the other Anbu higher-ups that he saw during the meeting in the afternoon were also there.

The Kusagakure’s Kage dismissed the Anbu member who led Nagasawa there, then looked at every Anbu higher-up and said, “Konoha is here.”

Hearing this, Nagasawa was shocked. Had he really been discovered? That shouldn’t be the case. If that were indeed the case, shouldn’t there be a horde of Kusagakure Shinobi surrounding him?

Eventually, Nagasawa realized that his disguise shouldn’t have been exposed yet, because the other Anbu higher-ups there were looking at the Kusagakure’s Kage with a dumbfounded look.

It was obvious that they didn’t know about this news either.

If they were preparing to ambush Nagasawa, the Kage would’ve informed the higher-ups of Anbu first.

“Just an hour ago, I met two Konoha Shinobis from the Root Division. They told us to be careful as Konoha sent their Shinobi to investigate our Anbu.”

They also said that as long as we can keep the intel about our Anbu safe, we do not have to worry about being attacked and preparing compensation.

“…”

The higher-ups of Kusagakure Anbu looked at each other in confusion.

Although they were experienced and knowledgeable, they had never seen such a scene.

At this time, Nagasawa was also dumbfounded. Just now, he thought Midori Inuzuka had been exposed. He wanted to go back and scold her. It turned out he was stabbed in the back by Danzo!

Nagasawa was baffled. According to Minato, Danzo supported his proposal, so Why did he do this?

In the end, one of the higher-ups finally realized what the Kage meant and said: “Wait a minute, so Konoha’s Shinobis asked us to be careful of other Konoha’s Shinobis that will investigate us?”

The Anbu Commander thought for a moment and said: “I heard that Root’s leader, Danzo is the student of the Second Hokage and was Sarutobi Hiruzen’s competitor for the Third Hokage position. Could it be that he wanted to have his revenge for not being chosen as the Fourth Hokage?”

The leader shook his head and said, “Who knows, but Root is the real deal, and the information should be true.”

Anbu Commander nodded and said, “If Konoha wants to attack us, we will have a hard time for sure.”

After saying this, one of Anbu’s higher-ups also felt a little helpless. It was hard for a small country to face one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries.

Konoha could’ve easily trampled a small village like Kusagakure without the need to sneak in.

Nagasawa knew that he could not wait for death. Although he did not know why Danzo wanted to sabotage this operation, he could not just sit back and watch.

Nagasawa thought for a moment before standing up and saying in high spirit, “Everyone, we can’t believe in Danzo Shimura and Root, they are our greatest enemies!”

Seeing how spirited Nagasawa was, the Kage couldn’t help but say, “Morishita, hold your horses. If you have any ideas, we’ll listen.”

Given Nagasawa’s capability in the previous meeting, the Kage would be willing to listen to his opinion.

“Does you all know who Danzo is?” Nagasawa looked around and sat down.

Nagasawa used his neat trick. Instead of blabbing everything on his own, he deliberately asked questions to make the others feel they were also involved and made them believe him more easily. Eventually, he’d improvise according to their response.

“He’s the Second Hokage’s student, one of Konoha Council members and the leader of Root.” One of the Anbu higher-ups replied.

Nagasawa nodded but shook his head right after, saying: “You are right, but you missed the most crucial one, and that is, Danzo Shimura is the leader of Konoha’s war-supporting faction!”

The Anbu Commander didn’t understand what Nagasawa meant. So what if Danzo supported the war? They were no different from him.

As if seeing through the Anbu Commander’s thought, Nagasawa faintly said: “It’s not about the matter of being a war-supporting or peace-supporting faction, but if we let Danzo, the leader of the war-supporting faction, become the Hokage, things won’t be so good for us.”

If the Hokage supported war, the first one to receive the brunt of the war would be the small village around them.
