CH 61

~Dan’s Perspective~

He enters the room, closes the door, and bolts it.

He lays down on the bed.

“Adventurers for food, and adventurers for…?” (Dan)

I remembered what I just said.

There are two main types of people who want to become adventurers: those who can’t find work and want to become an adventurer so that they can somehow eat. Others want to become adventurers to serve their country, to become noblemen, or just to be strong… Anyway, every person wants to become an adventurer for some purpose.

The former has no choice but to start as an adventurer to eat.

In this world, if you want to be hired by someone, you first look for them among your relatives. So if your parents or relatives are merchants, you may be able to work in their store. If your parents work in a big store, you may be able to get a job through them, or you may even be able to join them as their successor.

But not all children can find a job that way.

If the parents’ store is small, they may not be able to afford to hire all the children, and there is only one heir. There was a limit to how many jobs they could find through their parents. In this world, where one couple can have two or three children, the younger children are often at the mercy of the older ones. As a result, those people have no choice but to become adventurers.

The latter is simpler.

If one wants to be a knight or a nobleman, one must achieve something, but if one wants to be a commoner, the lowest hurdle is to become an adventurer. Even if you are an orphan, you can become a knight if you develop your skills and raise your adventurer rank, and if you make a name for yourself as a knight, you can even become a noble.

In addition, adventurers who earn money by killing monsters all year round in order to become stronger are convenient in many ways. An adventurer who just freely adjusts his working hours in order to have time for whatever he wants to do can also become an adventurer.

Looking back at my memories, I remembered something about myself.

My childhood. Meeting my friends. Training as a blacksmith. Registering as an adventurer. Forming a party with my friends.

And the reason why I decided to become an adventurer.

I didn’t mind blacksmithing, but when my father asked me to go to a different town to train, I refused and became an adventurer.

I liked the town of Rankfurt, I had friends here, and I didn’t want to leave. I didn’t want to go anywhere.

And my friends followed me.

“Well… In the end, I was neither the former nor the latter, I was half-baked.” (Dan)

I wasn’t forced to become an adventurer to eat.

Nor did I become an adventurer out of ambition or aspiration.

I just did it because it was convenient.

“I have to think about it again… Then, I’ll have to talk to Mel and Rocky… with my father too.” (Dan)

Muttering, he closed his eyes under the moonlight.
