CH 81

I then wandered around the dungeon again and found a skeleton.

I immediately decided to try the next magic and chanted a spell.

“Divine light, heal your people, [Holy Light].”

This magic [Holy Light] is a recovery spell, but it’s Sacred Magic, and I thought I’d try it out because the name makes me feel like it would be very effective against undead types.

As if burned by the dazzling light that fell from the sky above the skeleton, the skeleton’s jaws were clattering as white smoke rose from its entire body.

Maybe it has forgotten about it, or it can’t afford to worry about it, but for some reason, it is not attacking.

Keeping the spell for about 10 seconds, the skeleton suddenly collapsed as if the strings connecting the bones together had disappeared, and soon the bones were scattered on the spot.

“…Hmm, it’s okay.”

It can be said that the power is quite strong because it was defeated in one shot. However, it took a little too long, so it isn’t useful when multiple enemies appear, and it’s not an efficient use of magic. I feel that it is not very suitable for leveling up.

“Okay, next one.”

Picking up the magic stone, ignore the rusted sword, I start walking.

Then I wandered through the dungeon again and spotted the skeleton.

I decided on the next magic to try, so I chanted a spell.

“Sacred wind, surround him, [Holy Wind]!”

It’s a spell that I learned from a grimoire I found in a bookstore in Rankfurt, and because of its effect, I never had the chance to use it, but I think it’s essential for a healer.

The effect, that is – recovery from abnormal conditions.

When I activate the magic, a gentle breeze flows out from my right hand with brilliance, wrapping the skeleton. Then white smoke flows out of the skeleton and disappears on the wind.

The skeleton stands there with its jaw clacking and shaking.

After a while, the wind disappears, leaving me and the skeleton in our place.

“…” (Skeleton)

“…”

The skeleton is staring at me for a few seconds. Suddenly, it swung its sword up as if it remembered something and attacked me.

“What the! That thought-provoking pause! I thought there was something! I mean, it didn’t work very well!”

I quickly flicked the sword with my spear and pushed the skeleton back with a front kick. Then, I approached the skeleton and dealt one or two blows with my spearhead damaging the stone, killing it.

“… Okay, this magic is a no.”

Well, when it comes to undead.

I took a break, had a sip of wine from the canteen in my backpack, picked up the magic stone, and then started walking in search of the next skeleton.

“Buu!” (Orc)

As I continued to walk in search of the skeleton, I heard a cry from ahead that sounded like an orc.

The only monsters that appear on this floor are Orcs and Skeletons, and since Skeletons don’t make any sounds, I’d say it’s probably Orcs 100 percent of the time.

Buu! Unless there is an adventurer who squeals…

I heard the sound of footsteps approaching, and an Orc’s pig face emerged from the darkness ahead, darkness where the magical light of the Light Source could not reach.

Its figure is unchanged from the last time I saw it, with a flabby belly, muscular limbs, and a single loincloth.

and–

“Oi, what the!”

In its right hand, it held a rusty sword.

In the past, I saw in a manga that there was a term called “kendo triple steps”.

I think it meant that it takes three times as many steps to beat someone with a sword when using unarmed martial art.

I don’t know if that’s actually true, but I’m pretty sure it means that the more weapons you have, the better.

In other words—one of the advantages I had over the Orc was gone.

The orc raised its sword and swung it down as it stepped toward me.

“Ku…”

I back-stepped to avoid it.

There is nothing to compliment with the Orc’s swordsmanship, but the blows that come out of those muscles are strong and heavy. Aside from the blow with its fist, even if it is rusted, I cannot take a blow from that sword.

For the time being, I thrust my spear to discourage it.

Then the orc thrust its sword in the same way.

“Ugh.”

I gave the orc a shallow blow, but the orc’s sword almost grazed me as well, and I hurriedly pulled out my spear.

I use a spear, but I use a short spear for convenience and portability. With this shorter spear, the difference in reach is almost gone when the orc has a sword.

I guess it helps that this one is still slightly longer than the Orc’s.

But still…

“This is kind of hard to do, you know?”
