CH 91

“…Aa …Aaa.” (Ghost)

“Light, shootdown my enemy!”

As I was exploring the 19th floor, I heard the groans of a ghost again, so I immediately started casting the spell.

I thought about it a lot, but in the end, I couldn’t figure out where the ghost was coming from or how it was appearing. However, I did come up with something that might help me deal with it for now. That is this–

“…Aaaa.” (Ghost)

“[Light ball]”

The moment I heard the voice behind me, I turned around and activated my magic.

The magic power gathered in his right hand flew out as a ball of light, which hit the ghost and exploded brightly. The ghost disappeared, leaving behind a desperate cry of “Aa…”.

“Phew.”

I exhaled after confirming that the ghost was completely gone.

I can’t get used to it at all, even the second time. It’s really bad for the heart…

I didn’t know exactly where the ghost was coming from, but I did know that there was a voice that signaled it before it appeared. So when I heard the ghost’s voice, I prepared my attack magic anyway and activated it the moment I could see it, killing it instantly before it could attack me, and it worked.

It’s a defensive strategy, but since the ghost doesn’t have an attack that is instantaneous with high attack power, I guess it’s safe enough.

As I proceeded to the place where the ghost had disappeared, I found a magic stone on the ground.

I bent down and picked up the stone.

“It’s a magic stone.”

Yes, it’s just a magic stone. The first ghost I defeated dropped a black magic stone, but this ghost dropped an ordinary magic stone. Was there any difference between the first ghost and the current one? Or was there a difference in how they were defeated? Is it possible that the black magic stone was a rare drop?

“It’s hard to tell at this point. I need to kill a few more.”

“[Light Ball]”

“Ah…” (Ghost)

After hearing the demonic groaning, soon the ghost disappeared like smoke and I picked up the magic stone that has fallen to the floor.

“Maybe the black magic stone is a rare drop.”

While saying that, I held the magic stone over the [Light Source] spell and I check it over and over.

The magic stone that was exposed to light had a dull reddish-purple hue. It was still a normal magic stone.

After defeating the ghost first, I fired [Light Ball] at the ghost to vaporize it, before smashing the skeleton with my spear’s tip. After, defeating a total of about 10 monsters, but the black magic stone still does not appear. Although the number of samples is still small, it seems that black magic stones are likely to be rare drops based on this.

“Now…”

After defeating a few ghosts, I became accustomed to killing ghosts. No, I’m not used to the ghosts themselves at all, but…

Anyway, I think it’s time to try something new.

“So, where do I start next…”

The first thing that immediately comes to mind is to investigate the effects of [Sacred magic], as I did with the skeleton… Ah, I need to see if ghosts will also escape from [Holy Fire].

Walking toward the stairs on the 21st floor, steadily my footsteps echoed through the passage on the 20th floor, which was blanketed in deafening silence.

I was suddenly struck by the illusion that there was no one else on this floor but me. No, in fact, there is a high possibility that no one is here.

In this dungeon, there is a so-called warp device called a transfer monument on each of the five floors, and you can go to a transfer monument on any floor that you have touched at least once. In other words, once you’ve passed through the first floor, no one who has no business coming to this floor will ever come back. And there should be very few people who have a business on this floor.

As I walked, I remembered the results of the experiment I had just conducted.

The experiment, in other words, was to try using each of the Sacred Magics on the ghosts and see how they worked. As it turned out, the effect of Sacred Magic was almost the same as that of Skeletons. The only difference was that the ghosts were less resistant to magic than the skeletons, or maybe they had less physical strength, so they could be quickly destroyed by any magic.

And now, about the other experiment.

I looked at the radiant white ball of fire burning in the palm of my right hand.

I can say that this one was also a success. I’ve walked this far with this [Holy Fire] in my palm, and I haven’t been attacked once. I heard the sound of bones crunching a few times, and I also heard that noise from the ghosts, so I guess they were nearby, but it was okay.

However, I think it’s time to put out this white fire. I’m close to the stairs, and if there are people around, it would be a little tough on my magic power. If I leave it out, it will continue to consume a lot of magic power.

If you want to use this magic to avoid monsters, you have to think about how to carry it. Torches, lanterns, magic tools …Ah, you can buy a lantern and give it a try. If this white fire can be transferred to a lantern and used, it will be interesting to see various uses.

With that in mind, I made sure that it disappeared into a white fireball.

Anyway… I was aware of it, but I feel that my magical power capacity is quite huge. At least there I might have more than adventurers within the same rank. Even if I use Sacred Magic that consumes a lot of magical power, I can still afford to use more. Previously, when there was a stampede in Rankfurt, everyone was using magic at the same pace, so it was easier to compare with other people and I felt there was a difference.

Well, I wasn’t able to see it as a numerical value without a device that measures the amount of magic power or appraisal ability, so I can’t say for sure.
