CH 3.2

According to the information, the chairman of Starlight Entertainment is surnamed Lin, and his wife is Italian. The couple lives in two different countries all year round, and they jointly raise a 24-year-old son named Lin Yu.

“Lin Yu…a mixed-race child, and the name is quite unique 1,” Su Chengyang muttered.

She clicked on Lin Yu’s information, and a black and white portrait style avatar popped up.

The man in the picture has slightly curly black hair and is slightly tilting his body, revealing a deep profile. A beam of light shines on his face from the top left corner, casting a shadow on his cheekbones where his slightly narrowed eyes and eyebrows create a hint of mystery. This makes his face appear gentlemanly in the light, but like that of a thug in the shadows.

The black and white portrait seems to have been taken candidly. When the man looks sideways, there is a hint of coldness in his eyes. Perhaps out of politeness, there is also a faint smile on his lips, giving people a feeling of a devil and an angel coexisting in one body.

Su Chengyang looked at this profile picture for a few seconds in a daze. With such superior facial features, one would never forget them after seeing them once, even if it was just a fleeting glance. Su Chengyang was extremely certain that the man he bumped into at the company elevator yesterday was Lin Yu, the Heir of Starlight Entertainment.

“He is the heir of Starlight Entertainment. I should have talked to him yesterday,” Su Chengyang thought to herself.

Thinking of the man’s gentle tone yesterday, Su Chengyang felt regretful.

TThis kind of man, with both looks and background…

Su Chengyang checked his information again and found out that he is not just that. He is a talented man with good looks and background, and he must be surrounded by many talented and good-looking people. Ordinary artists naturally wouldn’t catch his attention.

Su Chengyang spent a whole day collecting information about him online and discovered that he had some fame both domestically and internationally. Surprisingly, he even had a super topic on Weibo, where many fans listed his interests and hobbies that they had dug up through social media and friends.

In the end, Su Chengyang came to a conclusion: to impress a man like him, looks and conventional ways of performing were definitely not going to work.

Previously, in order to take on challenging roles, Su Chengyang would often try to figure out the director and screenwriter’s preferences, and perform based on their likes. However, this approach didn’t work with Lin Yu because most of the information about him online was either fan speculation or made-up, and therefore not very useful as a reference.

Therefore, for the audition in two weeks, she needed a very special and unique performance to have a chance at impressing Lin Yu.

Su Chengyang has always been confident in her acting skills, but… she didn’t know if there was a “theme” for this audition.

In the next week, Su Chengyang lived a simple life, rarely leaving her residence. She spent her days either cooking or meditating, occasionally browsing the internet. Though there were fewer comments about her online, the ones that remained were still full of criticism. However, Su Chengyang remained unaffected by them. Later on, she felt guilty about not earning any income while staying in a hotel every day, so she bought a cheap digital tablet in the same city and registered a Weibo account to sell her illustrations. Her prices were not high, with each illustration selling for around 20 yuan.

A week later, when Su Chengyang received a phone call from Liu Wen, she dressed up neatly and felt that her waistband had become tighter. However, she didn’t think too much about it and wore a mask and sunglasses before heading straight to the company.

When she arrived, Liu Wen took her into an office where there were seven or eight other artists, both men and women, all staring at her with disdainful looks in their eyes upon seeing Su Chengyang.

There was no other reason except that their audition opportunities were earned through their own abilities. Su Chengyang was the only one who received compensation from the company due to the attacks from her haters. Naturally, the other artists looked down on her.

Su Chengyang didn’t care about these things anyway. Once her contract expired, she would leave the entertainment industry.

“Everyone, please take a seat first,” Liu Wen said.

Su Chengyang sat down in a window seat, and the others seemed to intentionally isolate her, deliberately leaving the two seats next to her empty.

Su Chengyang remained unfazed. Given her current situation in the entertainment industry, of course, no one was willing to associate themselves with her.

“The reason why everyone was called here today, you should have heard of it. Without further ado, in one week, Mr. Lin from Starlight Entertainment will come to the company to select an artist. Once the audition is passed, you can directly sign with Starlight Entertainment. The length of the contract is up to you.”

There was silence in the office, and everyone was waiting for her next words.

“Please treat this audition as a normal one and keep a calm attitude.”

Starlight Entertainment is the largest brokerage company in the industry. Countless artists dream of signing with them. How could they possibly treat it as a normal audition?

Liu Wen continued, “Regarding this audition, Mr. Lin has given the theme of ‘Wealthy and Honorable Flower’. You have one more week. Stop your current work for now and prepare well for the audition.”

Upon hearing the three words ‘Rich and Noble Flower’, Su Chengyang frowned tightly.

She thought that the heir would come up with some popular foreign theme, and she even studied the entertainment industry in Italy for a long time.

A gentle gentleman with a stunning appearance didn’t seem to have anything to do with ‘Wealthy and Honorable Flower’.

Could it be that he just happened to like ‘Wealthy and Honorable Flower’?

If so, it wouldn’t be difficult for him to find an artist who fits the image of ‘Wealthy and Honorable Flower’, so how could he be accused of having high standards?

This made Su Chengyang wonder how to guess his thoughts.

1 In the original text, the character for Lin Yu is ‘淋雨’ (lín yǔ). 淋雨 means “to be caught in the rain” or “to get wet in the rain”. The first character “淋” means “to drench” or “to soak”, while the second character “雨” means “rain”. Together, they describe the situation of getting caught or being exposed to rain, resulting in getting wet. That’s why Su Chengyang say it’s quite unique. ↵
