CH 22.4

The next morning, Xiao Lu woke Su Chengyang up.

She woke up in a daze and saw Xiao Lu’s face appearing above her head.

“Chengyang, wake up.” Xiao Lu shook her shoulder.

As Chengyang’s scattered gaze gradually focused and she recognized who was in front of her, she rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed, asking in a muddled voice, “What’s going on?”

Xiao Lu pulled her arm, “Chengyang, it’s getting bright outside! Everyone except you and Jiang Shanqi has already woken up.”

Upon hearing this, Chengyang closed her eyes and tilted her head back, “It’s not even light yet, let me sleep a little longer.”

“You lazy pig, did you forget to read the card that the production team left for you again?” Xiao Lu pinched her neck, and Chengyang uncomfortably pushed her hand away.

“What card?”

Xiao Lu looked around the room, and finally found the crumpled card in Chengyang’s bed, handing it to her, “Here.”

Chengyang looked at it groggily, and saw that it said they had to wake up at 5:30 AM to learn how to make breakfast with the villagers.

Chengyang yawned, still half asleep, “Can I not go if I don’t eat breakfast?”

“What do you think? Not only will Boss Lin scare you with breach of contract fees, but the director will also say, ‘I’ll give you my card number and you can charge me for the fees.'” Xiao Lu imitated Mr. Lin’s tone.

Hearing the familiar tone and words, Chengyang suddenly became alert, “My stomach can be empty, but my bank account can’t be.”

Xiao Lu smiled and teased her, “You’re a money lover.”

When Chengyang got up, Jiang Shanqi had just been called up by the staff, probably like Chengyang, she had not noticed the card left by the production team.

The cameraman watched the two of them slowly getting ready, and reminded them in a soft voice, “The place where we will make breakfast is on another hill. The first four guests to arrive can take a tricycle there.”

Chengyang was not particularly interested in taking the tricycle.

“Are there still tricycles here?”

“I don’t know.”

It was clear that neither of them were interested in taking a tricycle to make breakfast.

Xiao Lu fell silent for a moment before saying, “I heard that the ingredients for making morning tea are limited. If we go too late, the meat and other things may have already been picked by other guests.”

Hearing this, Su Chengyang remained calm and silently quickened her movements. She only washed her face a couple of times and hurriedly applied her skincare products before urging them to leave.

Jiang Shanqi noticed Su Chengyang’s sudden increase in pace and followed suit, but still ended up falling behind her.

“Wait for me!” she called out anxiously as Su Chengyang led the group out.

Su Chengyang replied firmly, “I’ll wait for you, but the meat won’t.”

Xiao Lu and the camera crew exchanged a puzzled look, wondering why Su Chengyang was so fixated on the meat. Was meat really that attractive to her? She was already thinking about it early in the morning.

Ignoring their thoughts, Su Chengyang forged ahead, while Jiang Shanqi hurriedly applied her skincare products and ran after her to catch up.

“You won’t die if you skip meat for a meal,” Jiang Shanqi grumbled.

Su Chengyang knew that she wouldn’t die, but she loved eating meat. Before she started managing her weight, she used to eat whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted, and didn’t need meat in every meal to be satisfied. After a month of managing her weight, Su Chengyang felt that skipping meat for a meal was like missing out on a great opportunity.

When the two of them arrived at the meeting point, they were the last to arrive. The first four guests had already left on the tricycle, leaving five guests, all of whom Su Chengyang could name, to walk to the destination.

Not far away, Han Songxue was yawning and chatting with Song Mingan, who looked like he hadn’t slept well. Qi Fu was walking beside him.

“Han Songxue,” Su Chengyang called out to them, and the three of them turned around.

“You and Jiang Shanqi are the last ones?” Han Songxue asked as they waited for Su Chengyang and Jiang Shanqi to catch up.

“I woke up late,” said Su Chengyang.

As she joined the three of them, Han Songxue looked at their faces and said, “We are public figures, at least put on face cream before going out. You have no professional ethics.”

Hearing this, Su Chengyang wiped her face twice.

Jiang Shanqi commented, “It’s all because of Su Chengyang. As soon as she heard that the meat would be gone if we went late, she rushed us like fire.”

Han Songxue shook her head and said, “Su Chengyang, after this episode airs, the audience might think your agency mistreats you. Do they not give you food to eat normally?”

The off-screen voice of Xiao Lu came through: “No, Chengyang’s diet is provided by a specialized nutritionist.”

The others looked at Su Chengyang curiously and asked, “Then why do you look like you’ve never eaten meat in your whole life?”

Su Chengyang said numbly, “Because there’s no meat in the food, and even if there is, it tastes like chewing wax.”

“For a whole month, the most meat I ate was chicken breast and shrimp with all sorts of sauces.”

Xiao Lu laughed and said, “Who told you to gain ten pounds in just one week?”

“I…” Su Chengyang muttered, “I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to eat it in the future.”

“Chengyang, do you have a tendency to gain weight easily?” Qi Fu, who was walking in front, turned around and asked her.

Su Chengyang nodded and said in distress, “Yes, even drinking water makes me gain weight.”

Qi Fu said, “Then you should exercise more. Do you need me to recommend some good personal trainers?”

It was clear that Qi Fu exercised regularly, had a great body with well-defined muscles that weren’t overly exaggerated, and would probably look good in a uniform.

Su Chengyang had looked at his profile before and knew that his situation was similar to Song Mingan. He often played military and special forces roles, which limited his acting opportunities, so he wanted to transition through variety shows.

Su Chengyang shook her head and said, “No need.”

Personal trainers were too expensive, and she would rather work out on her own at the gym.

Looking at his muscular body, Su Chengyang couldn’t help but say, “You don’t look like someone who can cook, but you’re good at it.”

Qi Fu’s appearance is not traditionally handsome, but he looks comfortable, with a sense of righteousness in his bones, as if he was born to protect his country.

Han Songxue said, “How can you say that about him? You don’t look like someone who can cook either.”

Qi Fu scratched his head, with a slightly embarrassed smile, and said, “Actually, I used to be quite shy and girlish in personality. My mother taught me how to cook and knit sweaters, and she liked to buy me dresses.”

The four of them: “……”

Su Chengyang hesitated and asked, “Dresses?”

Qi Fu nodded, “Yeah.”

Song Mingan asked, “Do you have a picture?”

Qi Fu replied, “Yes.”

Han Songxue twitched her mouth, apparently suppressing a laugh. “Send me a copy later.”

Jiang Shanqi suggested, “Let’s start a group so that we can all share the good stuff together.”

Qi Fu seemed not to mind the jokes from his friends, but he felt a bit shy and said, “If you all like it, I can ask my mom to sort it out and send it over.”

Su Chengyang shook his head helplessly. He didn’t expect the most powerful-looking guy among them to be so easy to tease.

“I want it, too!”

“Me, too.”

Song Mingan said, “I…”

Qi Fu laughed and said, “Have you ever worn a skirt? You can try it.”

Su Chengyang remained silent for a moment and added, “I want the picture, too.”

“No problem.” Qi Fu didn’t expect the photo of him wearing a skirt to be so popular, so he happily nodded.

Looking at their joyous appearance, Su Chengyang finally had a pang of conscience and reminded Qi Fu, “Have you ever thought about it? After the program is broadcast, you might be laughed at by everyone.”

Qi Fu’s expression froze as if he had just remembered. “…I forgot we were still filming the show.”

The four friends looked at each other in silence.

Han Songxue comforted with a suppressed laugh, “It’s okay, tonight we’ll accompany you to the post-production teacher and let him cut this part out.”

Qi Fu quickly shook his head with a worried look, “No, it’s illegal to do that!”
