CH 27.3

At noon, the two of them had a casual meal at home.

In the evening, they didn’t have to dress too extravagantly as they were not in the recording time frame, so Su Chengyang took a shower, changed into two pieces of clean clothes, and waited for Lin Yu’s notification at home.

“Is Manager Lin coming with us?” Su Chengyang asked.

Normally, a manager would only send their artist to the filming location, and with Lin Yu being so busy, Su Chengyang didn’t want to take up his time. However, part of the reason was that she felt uneasy and couldn’t relax with him around.

Xiao Lu took a sip of juice and nodded, “The filming won’t take too long, and he can handle work from another location, so it won’t delay anything.”

“Oh,” Su Chengyang replied, not saying anything else.

While waiting for the notification, Su Chengyang picked up her tablet and worked on her illustrations. Her Weibo account had been exposed, and many people had tried to place orders with her, but she hadn’t responded to any of them. She had thought about starting a new account to prepare for her eventual retirement from the entertainment industry, but her art style was very recognizable, so she could only draw for her own enjoyment.

At 4 pm, Lin Yu called and asked Xiao Lu to take Su Chengyang to the company to go to the hotel with them.

After arriving at the company, Su Chengyang sat in the passenger seat and glanced out the window. There were many people crowded at the entrance, including reporters with equipment and ordinary people.

Su Chengyang faintly saw that they were holding up signs in their hands. She pushed her sunglasses down a bit and looked over, only to find that her name was written on the signs.

Xiao Lu parked the car on the side of the road about a dozen meters away from the company, lowered one side of the window, chewed gum in her mouth, and placed one hand on the window. She said to Su Chengyang, “Chengyang, do you want to go down and say hello to your fans?”

After the first episode of the show was aired last night, Su Chengyang became a little popular online. In addition, her name frequently appeared in the trending searches recently, attracting a wave of die-hard fans. With the increase in her popularity, she naturally became valuable for interviews.

Su Chengyang glanced over there and saw many people. If she didn’t show up, they would have all waited in vain.

After some consideration, Su Chengyang said, “Let me go over and say hello to them. We will leave from the underground parking lot later.”

After the previous incident where she was attacked in the underground parking lot, Xiao Lu would not park her car there anymore.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Lu nodded and said, “Alright, anyway, I’ll drive my cousin brother’s car.”

Xiao Lu parked the car and sent a message to Lin Yu, saying that they had arrived and were waiting in the underground parking lot. Then she got out of the car with Su Chengyang.

Before getting out of the car, Xiao Lu also put a small knife in her pocket to avoid any accidents.

“They’re here!”

“Su Chengyang is here!”

The crowd at the door became restless, and the people carrying equipment and signs all rushed over to Su Chengyang.

Su Chengyang dressed very simply today, wearing a white shirt on top and light-colored jeans on the bottom. Her orange hair was loosely tied behind her head, with some strands falling on her face, which complemented her stunning facial features. The overall atmosphere around her looked very relaxed.

“Miss Su, may I ask…”

“Excuse me, could you…”

The reporters who crowded around Su Chengyang almost shoved their microphones in her face. Su Chengyang took a step back, and Xiao Lu immediately stepped forward to shield her from the reporters.

“Chengyang, you look so beautiful!”

“Honey, look at me!”

“Ah, don’t look at me, I can’t take it!”

“I’ve seen her in person! Mom, I’ve seen her in person!”

Fans became extremely excited when they saw Su Chengyang, taking out their phones to take pictures and videos, occasionally erupting into exclamations and screams.

“Chengyang, I’ll give you some meat! My family runs a butcher shop!”

“My home is in Tibet, we have so many sheep. Do you want some? I can send them to you!”

“The clothes you’re wearing look really good. Who’s the guy you’re paired up with in the show?”

“I also want to know! When you were eating with the villagers, I saw him talking to you in the background.”

“Chengyang… Chengyang… you are so beautiful!”

This was the first time Su Chengyang had encountered such a situation. Although in the past, fans knew her schedule in advance and arranged for pick-ups, there were usually not many people, and they were not as excited as these fans.

Su Chengyang looked at the two girls who mentioned their family’s meat shop and sheep, and wondered if they could leave a contact information.

“Sorry.” Su Chengyang bent slightly as she looked at the reporters around her holding microphones and cameras, “I won’t accept any interviews today, I just came to say hello to everyone.”

“Miss Su, what do you think about Yang Xiuyi’s legal troubles?”

“Was your performance on the show just for the sake of the program’s effect?”

“Is your illustration related to food or the actress Shang Xingyu?”

. . . . .

Despite Su Chengyang’s clear explanation, various problems continued to arise.

“You guys…” Xiao Lu frowned and looked at a reporter, about to confront them, but Su Chengyang pulled her shirt.

Xiao Lu is straightforward and impulsive, and Su Chengyang worried that she might have conflicts with the reporters. After all, as long as the content is sensational, they can write anything.

“Sorry, I won’t accept any interviews today. I just came to say hello to everyone,” Su Chengyang said calmly.

How could the reporter give up easily and still stood in front of Su Chengyang, relentlessly asking, “Miss Su, are you refusing the interview because you have nothing to say? You…”

“She already said she’s not accepting interviews, don’t you have any bottom line?”

“Don’t mention certain popular stars in front of my sister, it’s disgusting.”

“Sis, don’t mind them, we’ve seen you! Hurry inside!”

“You still have to record the show tonight, hurry up.”

“The weather is getting colder, wear more clothes and take care of yourself. If you catch a cold, I will feel heartbroken!”

The fans used their hand-held placards to block the cameras of the reporters and smiled at Su Chengyang.

Su Chengyang smiled slightly, “You guys should also go back and be safe on the way.”

The fans willingly made way, and Xiao Lu protected Su Chengyang from the reporters, passing through them and entering the revolving door of the company.

After entering the company, Su Chengyang breathed a sigh of relief and went to the elevator with Xiao Lu, planning to go down to the underground parking lot.

“Your fans are quite sensible,” Xiao Lu exclaimed, “I once had the chance to witness a top celebrity meeting his fans. He ran ahead, and the fans chased after him like crazy. I didn’t feel like they were just star-chasing; it was like they were hunting him.”

Su Chengyang said, “Fans aren’t that scary. They gather from different places just to meet their favorite artists, not to harm anyone. If the artist keeps hiding, the fans will naturally chase after them. After all, they came all this way, and it would be a waste not to meet them. Spending some time with them won’t take much effort, and most of them are easily satisfied.”

Xiao Lu smiled, “Makes sense. I didn’t expect you to know so much.”

As they talked, the elevator arrived on the first floor.

The elevator doors gradually opened, and Su Chengyang looked up to see Lin Yu and Assistant Xu standing inside.

“Manager Lin,” Su Chengyang nodded slightly towards Lin Yu.

Lin Yu’s gaze lingered on the faces of the two people for a moment, and then leaned back a bit, saying, “Come in.”

Su Chengyang and Xiao Lu walked into the elevator. The elevator door closed slowly, leaving only the four of them in the enclosed space.

“Chengyang, congratulations on the good ratings of the show,” Assistant Xu said.

Su Chengyang smiled at him and replied, “Thank you.”

“My wife really likes you after watching the show. Can you sign an autograph for her when you have time?” Assistant Xu asked.

“Sure,” Su Chengyang agreed.

After a brief conversation, they arrived at the first underground floor and the four of them walked out of the elevator one after another.

They got into the car, and Lin Yu didn’t say a word throughout the journey.

Su Chengyang sat behind the driver’s seat and occasionally glanced at Lin Yu, who was in the passenger seat.

She was a bit nervous, but seeing that Lin Yu seemed to not have noticed her, she didn’t dare to speak up.

After leaving the underground parking lot and entering the brightly lit outdoors, Su Chengyang once again turned her gaze towards Lin Yu. She noticed that Lin Yu had his head turned to the side, looking outside the car. Su Chengyang instinctively followed his gaze and unexpectedly met his ambiguous eyes through the rearview mirror.

Su Chengyang was completely stunned.

Wait…wait a minute…

Did Lin Yu see her actions through the rearview mirror??

Su Chengyang hastily averted her gaze and her face inexplicably started to heat up. “I…I…”

What was she trying to say again?

Xiao Lu looked at her in confusion. “What’s wrong?”

Su Chengyang felt embarrassed, like she had been caught red-handed. She shook her head and said, “Nothing.”

After speaking, Su Chengyang lowered her head and didn’t dare to raise it again.

She had wanted to ask Lin Yu if he had watched the show last night, to see if he had noticed her hoarding so many snacks. But Lin Yu had never mentioned it, and Su Chengyang didn’t dare to ask him directly. She was afraid that if she reminded him, he might become interested and want to take a look. Then she would only be hurting herself.

After a moment of silence in the car, Lin Yu suddenly remembered something and turned to Su Chengyang, “Bring me your bag.”

“Ah…” Su Chengyang looked up in confusion.

“Check if you have anything hidden in there,” Lin Yu said.

Su Chengyang: “…”

Su Chengyang chuckled nervously and said cautiously, “You watched the program last night, didn’t you?”

“En.” Lin Yu nodded, then asked, “You’ve been worried since you got in the car, is it just to ask me this?”

Su Chengyang looked embarrassed and nodded, “Yes, just to ask you this.”

Lin Yu suddenly stopped talking, staring at Su Chengyang for a few seconds.

“What…what’s wrong?”

“Hidden a packet of snacks, a fine of one hundred yuan,” said Lin Yu.

Su Chengyang was taken aback. “Can I pay fifty yuan instead?” she asked.

Lin Yu looked at her without saying a word and smiled silently.

Su Chengyang had brought a small carry-on suitcase with her this time. As it didn’t take up much space, she had placed it under the seat.

She reluctantly picked it up now, all the while looking at Lin Yu, hoping he would change his mind.

“Lu Yin, please check,” Lin Yu said.

“Okay, cousin brother,” said Xiao Lu.

She placed the carry-on suitcase on her own lap and then opened it.

At first, Su Chengyang wasn’t too worried. She thought she and Xiao Lu had gotten along so well that she wouldn’t expose her secret.

But little did she know, in front of her cousin brother, Xiao Lu couldn’t bring herself to cheat or show any favoritism.

“One pack, two packs, three packs…seven packs. Chengyang, when did you hide so many snacks from me?” Xiao Lu asked in surprise.

Su Chengyang didn’t feel like answering at all at this moment!

She smiled and said, “It’s all about coming up with solutions1办法都是人想出来的 (Bànfǎ dōu shì rén xiǎng chūlái de) is a Chinese proverb that suggests that there is always a way to overcome difficulties, as long as people are willing to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions..”

“Manager Lin, I wasn’t hiding them. The program team would have confiscated these things anyway. I just wanted to have a little snack on the way,” Su Chengyang explained.

Lin Yu glanced back and said, “There should be some plastic bags in the trunk. Put them away.”

Su Chengyang’s heart tightened. “Manager Lin, these snacks are very healthy, and eating a little won’t make you gain weight.”

Lin Yu said, “I’ll confiscate them for now. When you perform well, I’ll reward you later.”

“Then do you think I am performing well now? Should I be rewarded with a pack of snacks?”

Lin Yu’s words didn’t go through her brain. She just remembered that Lin Yu agreed to let her eat hot pot because she did something that satisfied him.

Last night’s episode of <Travel> was good, wasn’t it?

Lin Yu pondered for a moment and nodded, “Yes, you should.”

“Thank you, Manager Lin!”

“But your behavior of hiding snacks is enough for me to punish you, so it’s not possible.”

Su Chengyang: “…”
