CH 2.1

2. The confinement is a little too much (1)

As she replenished her energy by dozing throughout the day…

“Ari.”

In the dream, Deon Filtmore appeared again.

His grey eyes shone furiously as he cast a fierce look down on So-hee.

“Did you hate me that much that you jumped?”

Her dreams continued.

What is this?

It felt ominous.

Embarrassed, she couldn’t appreciate why she had possessed Ariad’s body in her dream again.

“Well, it’s not that I hate you, I just had to wake up from this dream.” She spat.

His handsome face contorted in a grimace as she tried to explain without really explaining the entire context.

“You’ve been in bed for three days.”

“Three days?”

“Yes. Joshua even came and went.”

Wow!

It felt pretty exciting, even though it was a dream!

She thought it was an excellent idea to sincerely proceed with this dream and reflect on the events in the novel.

Deon’s face darkened when he saw her countenance brighten from that beautiful idea.

“Are you happy just hearing Joshua’s name, Ari?”

Deon seemed delusional.

“No, I’m not smiling because of Joshua.”

“Then who else got you smiling like that?”  Deon asked, glowering at her as if wanting to gobble her up.

“I just thought of something funny.”

“You’re lying.”

Jealous, to say the least, Deon didn’t listen to her.

So-hee sighed and tried to get out of bed, but her eyes went round when her eyes caught the object surrounding her arms.

Iron chains were fastened to both of her wrists.

“Huh? What’s this?”

She attempted to remove the chains, but they were fixed  firmly on her skin so she couldn’t do anything about it.

“Ariad, you’re mine. You aren’t allowed to go anywhere. It won’t end with just this if you play me like a fool again.” Deon said angrily.

“Wow, Deon! No matter how obsessed you are, I’m still not yours. Unchain me right now!”

No, she couldn’t go around looking for  ideas or die as she tried to wake up from this dream.

At that moment, So-hee couldn’t understand why Deon had lowered his head to kiss her without asking for her consent.

His hot breath reached her mouth, caressing her lips.

“I told Joshua I had sex with you.”

“What?”

What the hell is he talking about?

Was this bastard trying to hasten her death or what?

“—and then, what did Joshua say?”

“He said he would stamp the divorce papers and bring them to me.”

“So obedient.”

One corner of Deon’s lips curled upward at her puzzled response.

“He doesn’t love you, Ari. I’m the only one who loves you.”

‘Such clingy words.’ So-hee thought as she rolled her eyes in response. ‘Joshua would never let go of me.’

Of course, there was no love lost between them because their marriage was purely political.

Yet, how angry he must have been at  Ari for having children with someone else enough to vow to destroy two infamous political families?

No.

She shook her head after realizing it might  go on like this since this was a mere hallucination.

“Yes, Deon. You’re the only one who loves me.” She told him calmly in an attempt to soothe him. “ I know how you feel.”

“Do you know?”

“Of course.”

The fierceness in Deon’s gaze began to fade.

“I love you too, Deon. You are the only love I have left.”

Although So-hee had never been in a relationship before, she continued talking sweetly based on her novel-writing experience.

Deon responded to her seduction by slowly getting closer.

“Now that you know what you meant to me, why don’t you release me from these chains, Deon?” So-hee forced herself to smile.

Moving in front of her, Deon kissed her again while wearing a sphinx-like smile.

Unlike his cold atmosphere, the sweet smell of sugar lingered in his lips.

“Ari, I don’t think that’s going to work.”

Her smile trembled slightly at his unexpected answer.

“Why?”

“I have read this letter.”

Deon pulled a small piece of paper from his jacket pocket.

When he opened the parchment, she could see a letter written in unfamiliar handwriting.

Oh!

Of course, the content was familiar!

She had written this story after all!

+++

To my beautiful flower Ariad Pearson.

My Lady.

I always think about that one fateful night we spent together.

I miss you so much.

May I see you on the last day of October? I’ll be waiting there.

+++

It was a letter from Hugh Carlywood.

Of course, the Ariad in this novel had to read letters from unknown senders.

The messages were from many guys who had sex with her in the past.

But why is the story so detailed in this dream?

Fire burned in Deon’s eyes again.

“How can you expect me to let you go that easily after I read this?”

“It’s a misunderstanding. I don’t even know who that person is.”
