CH 8.2

A Clever Man (2)

Joshua was finally gone because he had to deal with work after lunch.

Finally left alone, So-hee rubbed at her flesh with her right hand hard to bring life to her limp form.

“Wow, if this body was consumable, it would have been  expired already.”

Her body would split into two if she performed one more smut scene after this.

So-hee was proud that she had written a good story.

Kelly Eurasia, the original female lead, will have no time and space to insert herself between her and Joshua.

“My readers, I’m working really hard over here. If I return to the real world only to see you curse, I’ll really cry.” She muttered the most important thing in her mind.

The crazy male characters she had over here were too driven by desire so she had no idea what would change the next time she saw them again.

What would happen if she took the contraceptive too late and carried Deon’s child which she initially planned as this web novel’s author?

“Wow, that would be terrible.”

The future was dark.

So-hee had no choice but to follow through with her mission to save Ariad even if bandages surrounded her whole body.

She untied the bandage wrapped on her leg.

It had significant scratches here and there, and her ankle was swollen.

Yet, she still tried to get up and get out of bed.

“Ugh.”

The first step was thrilling and painful, but she got used to it later, so walking around was worth it.

“Oh, this is a sh*tty struggle.”

The maid suddenly entered the room and witnessed So-hee standing up.

Shocked, she asked in concern, “Where are you going, My Lady?”

“I’m trying to walk.”

“You can’t.” She replied, shy yet determined.

“Don’t worry. I’ll just be in the nearest garden. It’s frustrating to stay in my room alone.”

“Then I’ll go with you, My Lady.”

Well, that’s not good because this maid was Joshua’s spy.

How should she get her off her back?

“I need some time alone. I’m so depressed these days.”

Ariad willed her bright eyes to dim for a moment.

The maid in front of her seemed nervous and confused about what to do.

She wedged it in.

“I want to die so bad earlier, but I think I’ll feel better if I take a quiet walk alone.” She exaggerated.

The woman in front of her almost burst into tears as she made way for her.

“Thank you. I’ll be back safely.”

Alright.

She’ll be back after finding out what Deon was up to.

* * *

Joshua didn’t tell her about Deon’s location, but So-hee, who made the story herself, could guess where he was locked up pretty roughly.

The Imperial City’s western tower was where treasonists were jailed, and she had to walk for almost an hour to get there since it was very far from the palace.

“This is crazy! I will kill myself immediately if you’re not there, Deon.”

She couldn’t feel her legs anymore as she continued walking with her limp.

Several knights had guarded the tower’s entrance.

“Excuse me. I’m here to see Deon Filtmore.”

At Ariad’s words, a knight looked at her in surprise and gave her a look as if he knew why she was there.

She was Ariad–a woman infamous for promiscuity.

The reason why she was here was evident.

He had guessed it roughly as he got out of her way.

The Knight gulped as he watched her sensuous body in a daze as if he was hoping he could have a chance to have sex with her one day.

So-hee raised an eyebrow when she felt the man’s lustful gaze.

She was about to say something, but she decided not to.

It wasn’t like this was her own body, to begin with.

There was no need to feel disrespected.

“By the way, what did Deon get caught for?”

Had Joshua already locked him up for treason?

Was it impossible to save Deon?

“He had been locked up there for fifteen days after assaulting a royal family member.” The knight replied.

Oh, that’s a relief.

Joshua will lock Deon up like this and put his name last on the traitor’s list.

It wasn’t that bad because they needed more time to fabricate the evidence.

“Thank you. I’ll go in.”`

Upon entering, So-hee sighed deeply, instantly seeing the steep staircase laid endlessly above her.

Then, she glanced down at her swollen legs more than once during that day.

Why did she have to be there at the top?

“There’s no right answer, but this should make me earn more from publishing my past works.”

So-hee cursed with clenched teeth as she began climbing up the stairs but ended up leaning against a stone wall.

“Help me.”

The stinging pain made her face sweaty.

Soon, the knight opened the wooden door with a set of keys.

*SCREECH*

A large man caught her eye when the rusty doorknob uttered a sharp sound.

Traces of cigarettes he had smoked were already piled up at a long table on one side of the wall.

The man, leaning against the bed, lowered his head, still clutching his cigarette.

Upon hearing the door open, he raised his head and his grey pupil grew bigger the instant he saw her.

He threw the cigarette on the floor, jumped out of his seat and ran towards her.

“Ari!”

A tall man, with a height of one hundred and ninety centimeters, hugged her so hard that it made her legs stagger.

“Ugh.”

All she felt was a stab of pain, but Deon didn’t even notice because he was too soaked in pure joy.

“How did you get here, Ari?”

“Wait a minute, Deon. It hurts—”

His delighted grey eyes were still in high spirits.

“Did you come because you missed me?”

The man was delusional.
