Chapter 47.1

“In the end, the black Uroboros decided that it would embrace everything and choose to protect humans. White Uroboros became the god of men. No one knows the details of the process. The only thing that people know is that the history was made by white dragons.”

Roland got up from his seat and rummaged through his bookshelf. He pulled down an old book designated as forbidden by the temple in front of Gerald.

The ring with the black Uroboros on it glittered. Come to think of it, Roland had never attended a temple event even though he was the dean of the academy.

Gerald picked up the book.

“It’s up to you to know the truth, Gerald.”

“……So what about the Monster Wave going on right now?”

“They are blindly following the white Uroboros. They come here to find my king.”

“Logan is protecting…… What is it?”

“Black Uroboros. The Logan family is not protecting its seal.”

Roland took away the book and opened a page.

“Logan… is protecting the black Uroboros so he can regain his strength. It’s like being a gatekeeper. Logan is protecting the black from the white.”

Gerald looked down at the book. The book said exactly what Roland said it was. He felt suffocated.

The voice said the world doubted Gerald and tested him. White Uroboros paid attention to Logan. Most specifically, Gerald.

If this was true, it would constantly weigh Louella’s life to test Gerald.

He felt like he was in a deep trap.

If Gerald betrays the white Uroboros for Louella. The monster will cut the humans down without hesitation.

It appeared that the white Uroburos wanted to open the door wide for the monsters and sweep away the humans that Black Uroboros loved.

Realization hit him.

[Will you hold my hand?]

Then a dark voice asked, teasingly.

Redemption, or destruction.

The book dropped from Gerald’s hand.

“Gerald. Gerald?”

“Thank you, Grandpa.”

“Gerald!”

Gerald did not stop at Roland’s call. Gerald picked up the book and quickly left the dean’s office.

Roland sank to his sofa.

Roland sighed and called in the secretary.

“Please contact Teilon. I think we should see each other soon.”

“Yes, Dean.”

He didn’t know what happened, but seeing Gerald come like that, it was clear that the Uroboros were the problem.

The black Uroboros, who had locked himself up, may be trying to wake up.

Roland shuddered at the unpredictable flow of events.

* * *

He thought he should see Louella right now.

Gerald left the book in the carriage. Louella was seen hanging around the garden.

Gerald’s heart, which was beating hard, sank.

Gerald hugged Louella. Louella screamed, startled by the surprise.

The knights who were paying keen attention to Louella pulled out their swords. The whole mansion was tense because of what happened yesterday.

“What, what?”

“Lulu.”

Louella turned her eyes to see over Gerald’s shoulder.

“What is this… Gerald!”

Louella whined and pushed Gerald away. Gerald’s sudden embrace made his outer garment reveal itself.

* * *

“You can lower your sword. Look, it’s Gerald.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Only then did the swords directed at Gerald disappear.

How fearless.

“What are you doing?”

I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve touched him like this. He’s already making me feel confused.

But his expression was unusual.

“What’s the matter, Gerald?”

“Lulu.”

“What? Did the world end already?”

Gerald smiled bitterly. What was he thinking with that expression?

I tapped Gerald on the shoulder.

“You know you’ve crossed the line, right?”

“I’m sorry.”

“What do you mean you’re sorry?”

A ferocious look crossed his face. Then I wondered what I was doing.

“Why are you here?”

“I heard something bad happened yesterday.”

“Oh, no, not really. Luckily, Alexid was on his way back.”

Now Alexid was getting a massage to calm the muscles he had surprised yesterday.

“I’m glad, Lulu.” Gerald smiled.

“That’s why you’re here?” she asked with a sighing voice.

Gerald looked unusually anxious. “Of course, I would worry about it even when it happened to a friend of mine.”

The moment of petulance soared.

“I met Brenti yesterday.”

Gerald’s eyes shook. “Brenti Borto?”

“Yes, I was introduced to him. Brenti is trying to get himself a seat in Korea this time. I think we’re on the same page. So I’m going to meet him one more time.”

Gerald asked in a cracked voice, “Do you think Brenti is a good person?”

“I think he’s the best person I’ve ever met.”

Gerald’s jewel-like eyes had a sadness in them. There was a time when I wanted him to be hurt.
