Chapter 48

Chapter 48

Cassian finished his bath and headed to the bedroom.

His senses were saying that this should not be overlooked. As if it was about to disappear, a precarious figure hung before his eyes.

When he opened the bedroom door, Elysia’s cat popped out. Der glanced at him, turned its head, and headed down the stairs to the first floor.

He laughed because it seemed like it was trying to avoid this place.

“…You’ve got all sorts of ideas.”

As he entered the bedroom, he could see Elysia lying on the bed, hugging her knees.

He noticed that she was waiting for him.

“Elysia.”

Cassian called her name and went up to the bed. He grabbed Elysia’s cheek and lifted it up with a slight force. A bandage was wrapped around the wound on his left hand. He then gently moved his wounded hand away.

Elysia frowned upon seeing the series of actions.

“I don’t know what you’re thinking, but no.”

He added that he removed it for fear of getting blood on her face.

Elysia said after clapping her lips several times.

“I’ll ask you one more time.”

“Anything.”

“I’ll let you go if you ever have someone you love, whether it’s Lady Blanche or anyone.”

“It hurts a little that you said that.”

It was then that Cassian realized what she had noticed. The fact that she knew his heart and was hesitating, and that she will run away immediately if she makes a mistake.

She was like a fool that got caught before the wedding.

“I’m serious. I’ll break the contract even now.”

Cassian cut off her words and said in a low voice. “If you’re intentionally hurting me, I think you’d better stop.”

“It’s not…!”

“Who’s going to break the contract at will? Even you alone…”

Elysia raised her hand and covered his mouth.

“No! I get it… Say nothing, don’t say anything.”

Cassian pressed his lips together to the palms that covered his lips. At that, she gazed at him with an expression that looked like she was about to cry, and then closed her eyes tightly.

“I will leave the Empire when the contract is over.”

Hearing that, he grabbed her hand and lowered it, kissing her red cheek immediately when he looked at her with a little emotion, and pressed his lips down to the corner of her eyes that were lovingly curved when she smiled.

“I promise I’ll let you go.”

It was already written in her contract, but the reason she asked again was probably because he got caught in her mind.

But, three years will be enough to change her mind.

Cassian lowered his head and bit her earlobe gently. Because of that, she could feel Elysia’s breathing become disturbed.

“I promise.”

Then, he swept her slender waist and pushed the robe away from her shoulders.

“I didn’t hear anything.”

A red flower bloomed on her shoulder, which was beginning to fade.

“Yes, I didn’t say anything.”

A flower bloomed over the sound of her heart beating hard as Cassian lowered his lips. She could feel it jumping like this, but she was willing to turn away from that feeling.

‘I’m willing.’

“I’ll pretend I don’t know until the end.”

His beastly sense was a warning. She clearly has a reason to push him away. There was no way he couldn’t be unaware of the relief that appeared in a momentary moment in her red eyes before Elysia closed her eyes.

However, Cassian did not question her.

He knew vaguely. He shouldn’t ask anything until the time is right.

“If you wish.”

“I’m so sorry.”

It was an apology for turning away from his heart, and it was the first and last apology.

The silver eyelashes fluttered, and her eyelids lifted. There was still a hint of hesitation in his red eyes. Even that small hesitation had to be crushed cleanly. First of all, he had to hold her by his side.

“You don’t have to be sorry. You don’t have to put up with it. There’s no need to feel guilty because you didn’t do anything wrong.”

At that, Elysia bit her lower lip.

Cassian raised his hand and pulled out her biting lower lip.

“So, just stay by my side. I’ll do the rest.”

He gently stroked her lips with his fingers and tilted his head.

“Will you kiss me?”

It was the beginning of a long, long night.

Elysia had to admit her own mistake.

She could pretend that she didn’t know until the end, and just hide her heart.

But, what on earth is this situation in which Cassian is openly seducing? He came out so brazenly, as if he had to spit those feelings out of his mouth.

“Uhk… Really, stop.”

Cassian only stimulated the place where he insisted. Every time he moved his fingers there was a squeaky sound.

She wanted to push him away, but both her wrists were held tightly.

Elysia blushed her face and glared at him.

“After doing that! I want you to go to work quickly!”

“Just once.”

“I’m not fooled.”

She doesn’t know how many times he’s said just once. From the moment Elysia finished talking with Cassian last night, she really couldn’t take a break. It seemed that her legs were already numb.

He released Elysia’s wrist and pulled the hand that was stimulating her. She was relieved that she can now rest. However, then he licks his hand.

When she saw that, she clenched her teeth.

“….”

“…Ugh, really…”

“Okay. I’ll stop.”

Cassian’s hands were already clean.

Even after saying that he would stop, his eyes were dripping with regret.

Seeing him put on the jacket, she eventually raised her body. She grabbed the glass bottle that was on the table, and she showed it to him.

“I’m going to hand it over to the trial.”

“Looks like you’ve succeeded.”

“Yes. Der did a great job.”

Cassian took over the glass bottle that Elysia was holding.

“This, I’ll do it.”

“I’ll do it. I’m just letting you know in advance.”

“Just… Let me do it. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.”

Elysia bit her lip.

At one point, he bent his eyes and flirted with a brutal smile. She had never thought of the words that would come out of Cassian’s mouth.

“I’ll have to go. Don’t go out recklessly, don’t skip your meal.”

“That’s all you have to say, just go.”

“Take care.”

As soon as Cassian finished his words, he kissed Elysia’s neck.

“Oh…! Don’t. Stop it. Don’t leave any marks now.”

“….? I can’t do this either?”

“No… that’s not it. I have to wear a dress on your wedding day. There are limits to covering it up with magic or makeup. I don’t want to cover it up with anything like that.”

Cassian raised his hand and covered his eyes. It seemed as if she had said something harsh. Seeing so, she quickly asked.

“What’s wrong?”

“No, just…”

Elysia grabbed his hand that was covering his face.

The corners of Cassian’s eyes appeared to show irritation. When she saw that, she felt her face burning up together.

“Ah, no. That…”

“No. I’ll go.”

“Yes. Just go.”

As Cassian’s body was disappearing from her view, she flopped down.

Even though they didn’t express their feelings for each other, it seems as though they’re in a relationship…

“You must be crazy, seriously… I didn’t mean to do this.”

Ramote received Elysia’s communication and went to the temple.

There, the High Priest Arbell welcomed him.

“Oh! Ramote. Long time no see.”

Ramote frowned as he saw him approaching with his arms wide open as if trying to hug him.

The priests around them were watching the scene with curious expressions.

“Don’t pretend to be friendly. Go away.”

“That’s sad, why do you say that? Let’s go in.”

Ramote saw Arbel’s eyes sharpened. He must have known the reason why he had come because everyone in the Empire knew that his disciple was Elysia.

At that, he followed Arbel to the VIP room inside the temple.

“How are you, Ramote? You never grow old.”

“Every time I see you, you seem to be getting old.”

“What nonsense! I’m not as good as you.”

Ramote snorted, telling him to compare what’s comparable. It was because Arbel looked like a middle-aged man, while Ramote looked much younger than him.

Ramote adjusted his posture and sat down, speaking his words in a serious voice.

“I’m busy, so I’m just talking about the main point.”

“Is it because of your disciple?”

“If you know, we’ll talk faster. Don’t bother my disciple.”

Despite Ramote’s resolute voice, Arbel only smiled.

Him not giving up easily was something he had expected. It was a period when the power of the temple was gradually weakening. For a moment, with the appearance of the monsters it was revived, but he could not subdue the monsters with the power of the Paladins alone.

Using his holy power only inflicts a little more lethal wounds, but that’s because there wasn’t much difference from the knights of the Empire.

Arbel was harmless and acted like a fool, though he was a man of strong desire. He opened his mouth to reply.

“I can’t do that. She is the owner of the tomb guardian that was only in legend.”

“You’d better not think about using it. If you don’t want to see the temple collapse.”

“Aren’t you really afraid of God?”

“There’s nothing to be afraid of. If you take that life, that’s the end of it.”

Arbel drooped his lips and leaned against the backrest. He was even more curious when Ramote came out like that.

“Do you know what that emblem is?”

“If I knew, why would I have come here?”

Their eyes met sharply.

They tried to guess what each other knew and what they were hiding, but they couldn’t figure it out. Arbel always lied with the same face, and Ramote was good at hiding things.

“Arbel, you are too greedy.”

“As long as you were born as a human, it’s natural.”

“Is that what a person who worships a god should say?”

Arbel laughed and rebuked it.

Even though he worshiped a god, he was only a human. He feels all the emotions that humans feel. Of course, there were priests who were pathologically obsessed with right and wrong.

He also had the same external image, pursuing good and rejecting evil.

“I hope the temple will regain its former strength.”

“Why don’t you know that it will happen naturally over time?”

The temple was the most affected by the continental situation. Therefore, if there was no clear fear in front of people like these days, their presence would be weakened.

When war, disaster, or disease occurs, don’t people immediately pray to God?

At that time, the amount of donations coming into the temple was different.

“I want everyone to believe in God, no matter what.”

“You want to take my disciple out to prove it?”

“Don’t take it to such extremes. She just needs to show her face a bit.”

“Arbel, I have warned you clearly. If you do anything nonsense, I will blow up the entire temple on the continent.”

Arbel frowned.

Ramote had a do whatever he wanted personality.

When he had an argument with Ramote in the past, Ramote had blown up some temples. So, even if he didn’t know anything else, it was enough to say that he cared for Lady Lowell.

“Then, I’m sure you understand. How do I get to the basement? I want to take a look.”

“Follow me.”

In order to get what he wanted, he had to please Ramote.

Arbel sighed and took his steps first.
