Chapter 49

Chapter 49

It was three days before the wedding.

The wedding was to be held at the Duke of Esteban’s residence.

Elysia was watching the workers rush on the terrace. Even the knights came out and were helping out.

‘I’m really doing it…’

She let out a long sigh as she sighed. But, her eyes followed the knights who took off their tops and worked hard.

“Are we going to have to do the gymnastics rounds?”

Hearing Cassian speaking in a cool tone, she quickly turned her head.

It was still too early for him to leave work.

“You’re here early?”

“It’s our wedding soon, and if His Majesty has a conscience, he should let me go early.”

“Did His Majesty wake up?”

Elysia pursed her lips as soon as she uttered her words, and Cassian approached her with a puzzled face.

“How would you have known that?”

“There’s no reason why I don’t know what you know, right?”

She replied shamelessly. Because she can’t say she knows because she’s seen the original story.

It was impossible for the Emperor to be well at this time, so what happened? According to the original story, the emperor is expected to wake up in at least two months.

Of course, very few people knew about it.

“Let’s just say so. You said we couldn’t even hold hands, yet you’re watching things like that.”

Cassian blinked and pointed down the terrace.

He could still see the knights coming and going. She wasn’t the only one to watch the burly men working in sweat. The maids in the mansion were also giggling.

“Why are you being childish?”

“I could be more childish.”

Saying that, he drew closer to Elysia and leaned his body.

She could feel the terrace railing touching her back.

Just by looking up in the garden, their faces could be seen. Elysia turned her head to the distance where they could feel each other’s breath.

“Can’t you just stay still? Since that day, I haven’t been able to even kiss you.”

He was referring to the day she told him not to express his feelings.

Elysia let his hand grip her chin.

“I’m in a lot of pain, just lips.”

Elysia’s mind woke up naturally in his last words. She knew how frightening it was to say just lips.

“Stay still. Take only what I give you.”

“Then, do it.”

It was a dangerous concept in many ways. All the words spit out during the drowsy day were like that. Cassian was expressing everything except for the words that he liked her.

At that, she kissed him lightly.

“…Is that it?”

“Yes.”

“Hnngg.”

Cassian’s eyes were full of rebellion. But, as if giving up, the body that gently touched him moved away.

At the thought of him giving up unexpectedly quickly, Elysia gazed up.

“Yes, well. I just have to wait a few more days.”

“….”

“Oh, there’s one thing you should know.”

“What?”

Cassian’s eyes seemed to chill her spine for some reason. He then said, shrugging his shoulders as though it wasn’t a big deal.

“His Majesty gave a month’s leave.”

“Since when?”

“When? From now on. From tomorrow onwards, I can kiss you confidently, so I’ll be patient just one more day.”

He swept Elysia’s hair and smiled brutally.

The appearance of Cassian provoking her, who was weak to his appearance, was probably a means to endure until the day of the wedding.

At that, Elysia contemplated her words.

“Hmm. Why is your expression like that?”

“No.”

“It’s not like that. Oh, were you thinking of holding hands and kissing me today?”

She had no idea how many times this kind of conversation had been held. Moments later, she went closer to him.

“Are you going to keep doing that?”

“What?”

“We’re not talking openly… I keep saying that you’re too much… I’m so sorry.”

Apart from being swayed by his temptation, she couldn’t help but feel sorry for the heart that she couldn’t return. She felt even more sorry that he came out like that even after he was told not to express his feelings, which was perhaps cruel.

What she is saying now is probably her greed, and it may hurt him…

“You don’t want me to do anything?”

“…Yes.”

He grabbed Elysia’s wrist and dragged her out of the terrace and into the room. Cassian, who pushed Elysia against the wall and locked her in his arms, bowed his head.

Then, he asked the same question again.

“Really, I shouldn’t do anything?”

Elysia avoided his gaze and nodded her head.

“Yes, if you want it. I should do it. It’s no big deal.”

Angry…

Elysia sensed that Cassian was very angry. At times like this, there was only one thing she could say.

“…Sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry. You have nothing to be sorry about. Did you say you were going to Duke Lowell’s residence today?”

“Right.”

Before the wedding, she had made a promise to her father to sleep at their home. She was going to sleep one night today.

Cassian said as he lowered his arm against the wall.

“Goodbye.”

Elysia got into the carriage to go to the mansion with Bug.

Cassian hasn’t left his office since that morning.

She looked at the window of his office with an uneasy feeling, but she did not see Cassian’s appearance.

“Oh, Sir. I’d like to stop by the jeweler before going home.”

“All right.”

At that, Bug told the coachman to turn.

Elysia was thinking of getting Der another necklace. She thought that she was going to look around herself and place an order while at it.

Bug, who couldn’t hold back the question as to why she was going there, poured out questions.

“I’m going to buy Der a necklace.”

“Are you talking about that cat that you picked up? It really looks like Madam.”

“I don’t know.”

Elysia tilted her head. She just matched its eye color to the same color, but most of them were the same.

‘Well, Der does look pretty.’

She smiled, thinking it was a good thing.

At that moment, Elysia, who was looking out of the window, erased her smile.

“Sir. Do we usually go down this road?”

Bug looked out the window at Elysia’s words. What kind of dirt road is it in the Capital? There was no such way even when she went to the back of the store.

At that, she grabbed Bug’s shoulder as he was about to stick his head out of the window.

“Madam, all of a sudden…”

“Shh—”

Elysia shut Bug’s mouth and signaled him to be quiet. She wondered why she didn’t feel the presence of a carriage approaching. The smell of fishy blood was coming from the window.

It looked like the coachman’s blood.

Bug also noticed something strange and put his hand on the handle of his sword. “Madam, the carriage door won’t open. Looks like something has been done from the outside.”

“Come this way. I’ll do it.”

The carriage continued to rattle on the dirt road.

Elysia lowered her voice and opened her mouth.

“When I signal, I jump out.”

“But, it’s too dangerous…”

“Then, why don’t you run with them?”

Bug nodded his head with a grim look. It must have been a serious situation, but being with her didn’t create any tension at all.

Elysia smiled softly and patted Bug on the shoulder.

“When I signal, not when the door opens.”

“All right.”

Elysia raised her magic.

No, she tried to pull it up, but it didn’t move at all.

‘What…?’

As if something was blocking it, it didn’t move.

She wanted to check with Bug, but he wasn’t a master.

Elysia bit her lip and looked inside the carriage. Maybe the carriage has defensive magic on it…?

‘Oh, my God… Why would you do that to the carriage?”

Elysia squinted her eyes when she discovered that one of the jewels on the carriage’s ceiling was a magic stone.

She just seemed to have no choice but to do it by force. She knew that Bug was the most skilled among non-master knights, though he had to conserve his power.

Elysia lifted her legs in front of the carriage door.

“…Madam?”

As he called Elysia, there was a crackling sound. Elysia only made a lot of noise, and after, she smiled dejectedly as she looked at the intact carriage door. Apparently, there was no magic on the carriage door, but it was strange.

‘This isn’t protection… it’s confinement.’

Elysia felt a sense of embarrassment as she gathered herself around. She had to get out of the carriage to do anything.

“Madam, I’ll do it.”

“Sir. Stay still.”

As she said that, she kicked the wagon door with all her might.

This time it was a little dented, but it didn’t come off. People seemed to be talking outside, although she couldn’t hear well.

Elysia exhaled and kicked again.

Finally, with a loud bang, the door fell, and the carriage stopped.

“Listen carefully, Sir. If you jump while holding me, I will cast protection magic at the same time.

“I’ll look outside first.”

“Sir, do as I say. If you want to live.”

At that, Bug nodded his head, overwhelmed by Elysia’s mood. He decided to think later on about how his madam smashed the carriage door.

Elysia gave a signal while holding Bug.

He frowned at the feeling he felt as soon as he got off the carriage.

“Sir, can you hold me with one hand?”

“Yes.”

Elysia touched the running Bug’s shoulder and fixed her posture. She wanted to get away from Bug, but she was afraid he would get hurt.

Wouldn’t it be better for Bug to run, and she should launch her own attacks…?

“Sir, do you know where you are running?”

“Yes, just follow this road all the way.”

Elysia glanced at the wheel marks of the carriage on the floor.

She thought she might as well just follow that.

“Your Excellency!”

Cassian, who was looking at the documents in the office, raised his head at the sound of running from the hallway calling him.

Did anyone ever find himself in such a hurry in the mansion?

Cassian soon realized that the voice belonged to one of the knights that had been attached to Elysia. He immediately got up and left the office.

“What’s going on?”

“Huukk… Madam, the carriage…”

The knight’s demeanor was not normal.

There were sword cuts all over his body, and his scabbard was empty. It was commendable enough for coming all the way here and speaking to him.

“Good job. Just tell me what happened and get treatment.”

Cassian looked at the knight’s condition and responded calmly.

“I didn’t see anything. Aside, it was going east… The carriage that the Madam rode.”

“What’s wrong with the carriage? Any other problems?”

“The carriage has… Magic restraint…”

Shit.’

Cassian let out a low swear word. Meanwhile, Philip, who heard the news from the maid, was running in haste.

“Philip, assemble everyone. And, call Sir Ryan.”
