Volume 1 - CH 3

The Girl who appeared at the Playground

Certainly, Hideyori may have killed his uncle in the game but I just can’t bring myself to do that with the memories from my past life.

This body might belong to Hideyori but I am still me.

And being the coward that I am, I don’t have enough courage to just do whatever I want as Hideyori did in the game.

“I, I need a plan…….”

Grabbing a notebook and a pen, I started writing down as much information as I can remember from [Breaking the Chain of Sadness].

Right now, what I need to do in order to not follow the game’s story is…….

“There’s no problem as long as I never meet any characters from the game right!”

I can remember the names of all heroines including that of the protagonist, Juumonji Takeru.

It’s going to be fine. I can use the power of my Gift to live comfortably without following the game!

That night, I couldn’t sleep because of two conflicting emotions. The excitement that I’m actually living in a game’s world, and the fear that I might be destined to die because I have become Hideyori.

“Good morning, Hideyori.”

The next morning, I was woken up by my aunt.

The sour expression of my uncle which usually greeted me first thing in the morning is nowhere to be seen.

“For some reason, that person has been acting weird since yesterday you know……..He said that he’s going to start working from now on and left for job hunting earlier.”

“He’s decided to turn over a new leaf. I convinced him to yesterday.”

“Eh? Is that so?”

“Un. [Also, let’s not talk about this anymore okay.]”

Using [Dominating Decree], I forcefully ended the conversation.

Just after I escaped the abuse, it would be a hassle if people found out that I was granted a Gift.

People look at those who possess Gifts with both awe and fear.

In fact, if you see the heroines suffer from the power of Gifts then usually the obvious cause is that Hideyori managed to plunge his poisonous fang into them.

That being said, except for the existence of Gifts, this world is not much different from the one in my previous life.

“Come to think of it, it seems we have a new neighbor moving in next door you know.”

“Hmm.”

A new neighbor huh.

If I’m a Galge protagonist then it would be a royal road development where a heroine just moved in next door.

However, unfortunately, I am the fiendish scumbag Best Friend Character.

Let alone being liked, I should be someone the heroines despise.

Recalling how my age = the years without a girlfriend in my previous life, I unconsciously dealt damage to myself.

I left my aunt at home and came to a nearby playground.

I’ve never attended neither nursery school or kindergarten.

Of course, the cause of that was my uncle.

Still, I will start attending elementary school next year.

“To give an ability like the Gift to a child this age, this world really is too much…….”

I can’t think that giving a child the ability that allows them to [Freely Manipulate Other People’s Will] would yield a good result for their education.

After all, manipulating people is just a short step short of manipulating the world itself.

My ability is so dangerous that I can just walk up to the most powerful person of this country and say [Hand me your position].

Eh? If I think about it the other way, if I was the game Hideyori then wouldn’t using my power to make the people surrounding the protagonist miserable be a normal thing to do……..

I stare at the sky as I play with the swing.

While staring at the blue sky I have grown used to in my previous life, I pray that I can lead a normal life this time as well.

[[Um….., hello……..]]

“Nn?”

When I looked in the direction where that sudden greeting came from, I found a girl standing there.

There was a small mole underneath her left eye and her hair is tied up in pigtails on both sides. She also seems to be quite young.

Well, I am quite young myself too though……..

“Hi.”

Man, a little girl sure is cute.

When I was a kid in my previous life I was too shy to talk to the girls so I spent all my time playing soccer and dodgeball with the boys. That sure is nostalgic.

After I grew out of that age, it made me think how fast boys can actually start winning over the girls’ hearts though.

“Swing?”

“This is certainly a swing but my name is not Swing you know.”

“But, you are playing on one.”

“Well, whatever.”

Since she’s still a child it seems that my words don’t translate well for her but I don’t really care.

The girl sat on the swing next to me.

“Swing, Fun!”

“No, you just sat down right, how is that fun for you!”

I just couldn’t make sense of a child’s sensibility so I unintentionally retorted.

Just to be safe, I examined the face of the girl on the swing next to me.

Her mole really gives her the heroine-ish vibe.

I just love them, the characters with moles, I mean.

That being said, if it’s a male character with a mole I would just sigh and say, [They just don’t get it at all…….] though.

What you should be particular about are the female characters with a mole.

That’s the creed I lived by in my previous life.

However, there was no heroine that had a mole under their eye in [Breaking the Chain of Sadness].

In other words, this girl should have absolutely no involvement with any of my flags.

(TLN: Flags here mean Triggers of events that might occur in the future.)

One day has passed since my memories emerged inside Hideyori but there are still 10 more years before the main story of the game begins.

There’s no way I would be encountering a game character just the day after my gift manifested right?

Man, I scared myself over nothing.

“The word Blanco sounds like Brocon don’t you think.”

(TLN: Japanese call a swing a Blanco, perhaps from the Portuguese word root, Balanco.)

“Brocon……? Bra?”

“That one didn’t get through either huh……..”

I wish her words didn’t end with Bra though.

“Swing is not that fun if you don’t make it move right.”

“Move?”

“Like this.”

To show her an example, I strongly drove my swing forward.

I haven’t been playing on a swing for years but the feeling of playing on one after so long is certainly fun to me.

It also feels nice to feel the wind on my face!

“Oh! Fun!”

“No, you are not the one having fun right…….Try it out yourself, use your legs and swing yourself back and forth like this.”

“U, Un. Y, Yah!”

The swing moved back and forth for a whopping 10cm.

“It’s Fun.”

“Everything is fun for you huh……”

I seriously can’t understand a child’s sensibility.

With the age where I find each and everything fun already a past for me, I might have already taken my first step toward becoming an old man though.

“Let’s play that one next!”

The girl pointed to the nearby slide which seems to be her next object of interest.
