Volume 3 - CH 6

Kurusu Yumi

“It’s my business why I played [Breaking the Chain of Sadness] right!”

He wasn’t trying to be malicious by asking such a question but it still rubbed me the wrong way.

The fact that his inconsiderateness managed to intrude into my memory of him is just pissing me off.

In my (Tsugaru Madoka’s) previous life, I was very sick.

While I was physically so weak that I often collapsed whenever I exerted myself,

I, Kurusu Yumi, still made it to my first year of high school.

I wanted to try exercising but because of my physical condition, I often read books instead.

One day, my classmate who’d been my friend since middle school messaged me that she forgot her writing utensils in the classroom and asked me to help bring them to her at the gymnasium.

I was about to go home so I grabbed it and rushed out of the classroom.

Pan Pan

In the gymnasium, the sound of bamboo swords clashing echoes.

When I turned to look, I saw a boy delivering the finishing blow in a sparring match.

The accuracy of his bamboo sword that hit the head of his opponent at a speed that seemed like an instant fascinated me.

“Yumi, Thank you!”

“Un, you’re welcome.”

My eyes were fixed on the boy while I replied to my friend.

Then, the boy removed his helmet.

“Amazing isn’t he, that’s Toyotomi Mitsuhide-kun. He’s a first-year just like us but he’s strong enough to beat the kendo club’s captain you know. Even though he’s the same age as us, he’s just too good.”

“Hee……”

“Hmm? Yumi, did you fall for Toyotomi-kun already?”

“Eh? Eh? What?”

“Ah, yep. I think I already know the answer……”

He’s not that handsome but he’s not ugly by all means.

He’s someone who gives the feeling of a truly normal boy.

Even so, I couldn’t forget the impression he left on me.

He’s the type that’s not popular with the girls but well-liked by the boys.

A boy who has a lot of friends and knows a lot of people, that’s how I see him.

“Yumi, you can just call out to him you know…….”

“No way, I’m happy enough just looking at Toyotomi-kun like this.”

“You are already a step short of becoming a stalker huh……..there’s nobody else who’s aiming for Toyotomi-kun so I’m sure he will pounce at you immediately you know.”

“There are definitely others who like him just as much as I am right!”

“Is this the so-called love-is-blind thing?”

My friend said that to me with a fed-up voice.

After that, I couldn’t muster up the courage to talk to him for almost 3 months.

One day.

“Ugh…..”

“Hey, are you okay, Yumi?”

“My eyes are spinning…….”

It was a very hot day.

That day, I forced myself to come to school and as a result, I was having severe anemia.

“I can’t…….”

Just like that, I lost my consciousness while I was leaning on my friend.

“Hey, Yumi!? We are still 2 minutes away from the infirmary you know!?”

[[What’s wrong, Yoshida? You were shouting.]]

“Ah, Toyotomi-kun.”

When I came to, I was lying in the bed inside the infirmary.

I remembered that my friend was helping me to get here but I couldn’t remember anything after that.

“Thank goodness. You finally regained your consciousness, Kurusu-san.”

“Sensei, thank you very much.”

Since my body is so weak and I often have to visit the infirmary, the school nurse has already become familiar with me.

I really can’t thank her enough for taking care of me each and every time.

“Umm, how did I get here?”

“Yoshida-san and Toyotomi-kun brought you here you know.”

“I see, I see…… Yoshida-san and, who again?”

“It’s Toyotomi-kun, the boy from the kendo club. He carried you all the way here so make sure to thank him later okay.”

……..I was so shocked that I almost fainted again.
