Volume 5 - CH 41

Juumonji Risa wants to play with Hideyori

“It’s surprisingly small inside, isn’t it. It’s dark too.”

“Yeah…..”

Perhaps because her guard is nonexistent, Risa doesn’t seem to hesitate to walk into the booth despite its dark and narrow interior.

If I was here with Tsugaru, she would probably be like [Why do I have to go in there with you?] and refused to enter.

.

.

“Alright, let’s get some kills.”

“You are pretty motivated for this huh…..”

.

.

She urges me to start the game as though she’s looking forward to playing it so much that she can’t help herself.

Even though we still haven’t inserted the coin yet, the gun-shaped controller was already in her hand.

I take out a 100 yen coin that I just exchanged.

.

.

“That coin is from 5 years ago right.”

“That’s where you focus on?”

After a retort, I put in the 100 yen coin.

Then, the image on the monitor started to change.

Some narrations appeared along with the game’s scary BGM.

.

.

[[In the year 3XXX, the world was dominated by them. They are —-]] The game uses a grotesque font and the narrations flow too fast for me to read thoroughly.

Well, the setting is quite common.

“If it’s already 3XXX then we would already be dead right.”

“That’s where you focus on?”

The setting narration concluded in about 5 seconds and we were presented with a stage selection screen.

It has a lot of stages like Laboratory, School, abandoned building, etc but since there’s no explanation, I have no idea about their difficulty.

“Oh, Risa, choose the stage! We only have 30 seconds.”

“That’s where you focus on?”

“I mean, shouldn’t I……..?”

.

.

My exasperated retort was returned to me.

Maybe she already has a stage in mind.

“Then let’s go with the execution ground! Let’s do this Akechi-kun.”

“It’s this one after all huh.”

.

.

It’s an unusual place so it’s quite eye-catching.

After Risa selects [Execution Ground], the game starts.

.

.

[[Agrhhh…..]]

“Zombies! They are coming toward us! What do we do!? What do we do!?”

“You’re panicking too much alright!? Use your gun.”

“Okay.”

.

.

The targeting mechanic uses the gun’s sight so she just has to point at the screen and shoot.

It’s a game with a simple lock-on system so it’s pretty fun and thrilling.

That said, it is totally not an FPS game.

.

.

When we opened an iron door in the game, cold air blew at our faces.

“Woah!? Awesome!”

And Risa is reacting to each and every one of such gimmicks.

“By the way, how come Akechi-kun’s gun can fire so many bullets but mine can only fire one at a time?”

“Hold the trigger!”

“Wow, amazing! This is the rapid-fire thing, isn’t it! Is it a Desert Eagle? Socom? Colt Python?”

“None of that.”

.

.

The controller came in the shape of a pistol but it fires like a machine gun.

It’s obviously a made-up gun.

Despite knowing the term FPS and the names of such guns, Risa is pretty much ignorant about this kind of thing.

.

.

.

We kept suffering minor damage and made our way through the level until we encountered a centipede boss.

That’s not a zombie, that’s totally a monster. I retorted while I kept shooting.

.

.

“Alright, I’m going for headshots! If we can destroy its body parts then we will get tons of materials and EXP! We can use our EXP to learn orbital strike ability right!”

“Aren’t you mixing too many genres together!?”

“Ah, I died…….”

.

.

Risa’s character body was crushed by the gigantic centipede.

Mine also got hit and died to some random zombie.

.

.

“You can’t beat a game like this in one try after all. It was designed for us to spend more money on it.”

“I see, well, it was fun. Let’s play a different game. I’ve already got to experience an FPS after all.”

“S, Sure.”

.

.

Leaving the zombie game, we looked around the arcade.

“Wow! Look, Look! It’s Fractured Bandaged Rabbit-kun’s doll! So cute……..”

“Y, Yeah.”

Risa stops in front of a crane game.

Said rabbit doll looked like a pretty injured rabbit with its broken right arm covered in a bandage and a black eyepatch covering its left eye.

Cute aside, it’s already painful just to look at.

.

.

“Alright! I’m going to try it!”

.

.

Risa inserted a 100 yen coin into the machine but her effort was in vain as she could only nudge the doll a few centimeters to the side.

.

.

“This is an impossible game isn’t it?”

“It probably feels like that if you only plan to spend a hundred yen. I see how loose the claw is now so I think I can compensate. Risa, switch me in.”

“Akechi-kun……”

.

.

Risa stepped back and I took her place in front of the machine.

Finally, it’s the moment I can use my previous life knowledge as my Cheat.

I became an arcade gamer after I retired from kendo after all. Now, witness my skills.

.

.

It took me 4 tries but the doll finally fell into the hole.

.

.

“Alright, I got it!”

“Hmm, that’s amazing Akechi-kun.”

“You can have it, Risa. This broken bandaged rabbit-kun.”

“It’s Fractured Bandaged Rabbit-kun. But thank you, Akechi-kun.”

It was a fairly large doll so I asked the clerk for a bag.

“Ehehe, a gift from Akechi-kun.”

The arcade showed me a lot of Risa’s child-like smiles.

I always have this image of her as a little sister who always scolds her older brother.

.

“By the way, where’s Nii-san?”

“You just noticed that he’s gone!?”

“I was so absorbed with Akechi-kun that I didn’t notice…….”

Risa’s face turned red as she shyly replied.

Their faces look similar but unlike her brother, she’s more feminine and cute.

.

.

“…….I understand a little why Emi-san and Sakuya-san like you. You’re dependable.”

“So broken bandaged rabbit-kun is that popular huh. A rabbit that will protect you even with broken bone does sound dependable.”

“He’s Fractured Bandaged Rabbit-kun. Now I think I can understand their frustration too.”

“?”

.

.

Risa turns her face away.

Somehow, I find her gesture cute.

It’s a scene that I would want to capture in a photo or an event CG.

.

.

“Ahh, found you. So this is where you are huh.”

“Nii-san! Where have you been?”

“Sorry, sorry, I was focusing on a darts game you see. Did you get that broken bandaged rabbit-kun from Hideyori?”

“It’s Fractured Bandaged Rabbit-kun. I won’t hand it over to Nii-san okay.”

“I guess I will have Hideyori get me one then.”

“No way.”

.

.

It’s dazzling how these two get along.

While they are brother and sister, they are also the protagonist and the heroine.

Even though I’m already used to the sight, I still find the scene beautiful.

I wonder if someone can exclude Hideyori from this scene and make it into a photo or a CG.

Ah, if I take the photo myself then I don’t have to worry about that huh.

.

.

“Thanks, my best friend.”

“Haa? I didn’t do anything worth thanking though.”

“Don’t say that, Akechi-kun. Thank you!”

“S, Sure…….”

.

.

Risa is so cute right now.

In the game, the brother-sister thing turned me off so I didn’t really find Risa all that attractive but looking at her closely now made me realize how cute she is.

“Akechi-kun……., w, we have a lot of hobbies in common, don’t we? Like StarChild and gaming……..I want to play with you more, Akechi-kun.”

“Eh?”

“I can’t……?”

.

.

Risa’s face is blushing and she’s looking at me with upturned eyes.

Wh, what is this cute creature?

“Yeah! Let’s play together!”

“Thank you, Akechi-kun!”

.

.

I replied knowing that she wants to use me as an excuse to create more chances for her to flirt with her brother.

I can accommodate you anytime!

.

.

“You have my permission to hang out with Risa without me okay.”

“Eh?”

“What! Nii-san!?”

.

.

That would be counterproductive right?

Risa dragged Takeru away and started giving him a sermon.

[[It’s embarrassing so stop! I can’t possibly talk to Akechi-kun if we are alone! Back me up, Nii-san!]]

[[I mean, you chatted with him a ton earlier right.]]

[[You lied about the darts game didn’t you.]]

.

.

.

I have no idea what they are whispering to each other about but I’m sure that she wants Takeru to be around when we hang out.

Risa’s objective should be to spend more time with Takeru after all. Rather, I would be in the way of that right.

She probably wants to exclude me if she can to be alone with her brother. I do feel bad that I’m such an obstacle to her love.

.

.

Speaking of feeling bad, I also feel sorry toward the Eien-chan’s study group since we just left them there and came here to enjoy ourselves.

.

.

“Well, it’s about time we head back.”

.

.

After Risa and Takeru finished whispering to each other, Takeru said that, and it was decided that we are going home for the day.
