Chapter 72

72 Dragon Pavilion (V)

“No. It cannot be true.”

” It’s not real.” The maid who was assisting Yang Ning and was stationed in Zheng Liang’s chamber to look after her was worried to see Yang Ning groaning and sleep-talking in her unconscious state.

Her eyes were closed but she was frowning in her sleep and was covered in a cold sweat. “Is she having a nightmare?” She wondered.

The maid looked around to see what she could do to help her and decided to pull down the curtains of the windows to stop the outside light from coming inside the room so that Yang Ning could sleep in peace.

Since it was still bright outside and all the windows were open, the bright light of the day was infiltrating the chamber.

However, this action of hers didn’t help Yang Ning to sleep peacefully, without any nightmares. She was still tossing around in her sleep and was groaning and even crying as if she was having difficulty sleeping.

“I didn’t do anything. I am innocent. I didn’t cheat anyone.” Yang Ning kept mumbling in her sleep and was crying while clutching onto the bed sheets.

“Should I inform His Highness about it?” The maid got worried to see her condition. However, she couldn’t go outside and inform Zheng Liang about it as well since he was with Yang Luoyang and they were having a serious conversation.

How can a maid like her interrupt their conversation?

.....

The maid decided to help Yang Ning herself and stood by her bedside. Seeing Yang Ning frowning in her sleep, she placed a hand over her forehead gently and tried to give her a rub so that she could stop groaning like that.

However, as soon as she put her head over her head, Yang Ning snapped open her eyes in surprise and looked in her eyes with her eyes wide open.

The maid was startled by her suddenly waking up and looking into her eyes. However, more than her suddenly opening her eyes, she was more shocked by her reaction.

Why is she so shocked to see me? The maid wondered.

“Lady Yang Ning, you...you woke up? Do you want something?” She asked in a trembling voice. Her heart was still pounding fast due to startling. The way she looked into her eyes earlier was scary.

While the maid was startled, Yang Ning was even more shocked to see a new face. Her eyes widened in shock as panic started to settle in her heart.

She blinked her eyes a few times to make sure that she was alive and breathing.

Hah! So she didn’t die from the bear attack? The last thing she remembers was the bear chasing after her and Xiaowei and she killed the bear with her arrow.

After that, she does have any memory of what hall after that. How did she come to this place?

But....where am I? Did I....transmigrated to another world? She was confused because the place where she woke up did not look like anything near Yang Ning’s chamber at Yang Household.

Her mouth parted in fear and shock. She was just getting started to get adjusted to this new world. Has she transmigrated to another world already?

She looked around the spacious and luxurious chamber. The whole room was decorated with bright lanterns, and the soft material curtains, even the pillow underneath seemed to be satiny and comfortable.

This is not her chamber. Neither the girl standing in front of her was Xiaowei.

Then....Where is SHE?

She gasped in horror and immediately sat up on the bed. She looked around and realized that it was not her chamber indeed.

“Did I change again?” She caressed her face with her hand and wondered if she had become another person once again.

Because she still doesn’t know the pattern, why all of this is happening to her, and due to which conditions.

“Mirror. I need to see my face.” She murmured while looking around for a mirror to see her face in.

The maid was puzzled to see her speaking strange words as soon as she woke up. Why does she need a mirror as soon as she wakes up? “Ah? A mirror? Lady Yang Ning, do you need-”

The maid was trying to understand if she needed a mirror. However, before she could complete her words, Yang Ning pushed her away and jumped out of the bed.

“LADY YANG NING, YOU CAN NOT GET DOWN OF THE BED YET.” The maid shouted in pure horror to see Yang Ning jumping around like that.

She is still sick and needs to rest. If someone finds out about it, she will be the one getting punished instead.

Yang Ning ignored the maid’s cry and hurried towards the large standing mirror in the room.

She needs to see her face. She isn’t in a new world, is she?

However, there wasn’t any new novel that she was reading that day. Is it not about the fiction, novel world? She wondered while walking towards the mirror.

“MY LADY, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?” She cried and tried to follow Yang Ning.

Yang Ning was still feeling weak, her legs were feeling wobbly and she lost her footing. While trying to prevent herself from falling, she tried to hold onto the wooden table next to her, where she knocked into the jade porcelain.

~CRASH~

“BE CAREFUL! AHH!” The maid screamed in horror when the jade porcelain which was given to Zheng Liang by His Majesty as his birthday gift fell on the ground and broke into pieces.

However, it wasn’t the end. The maid wanted to help Yang Ning stay away from the sharp shards, however, before she could pull her away, Yang Ning walked through the sharp shards to check herself in the mirror.

She didn’t even care about her feet bleeding and the sharp shards were still stuck in her skin. All she cared about at this moment was checking her identity and nothing else.

When Yang Ning saw her face in the mirror and realized that she hadn’t changed, she let out a sigh of relief.

“Hah. I was so scared. However, what place is this?” She wondered.

While she was wondering about where she was, she suddenly realized that she was wearing different clothes that she had worn in the morning when she went out to meet Zheng Liang.

Her eyes widened in shock and panicked to see herself changed into a fresh pair of clothes. “This...who changed me into these clothes?” She wondered while looking at herself in a daze when the door of the chamber was pushed open.

“Your Highness?” Yang Ning was surprised to see Zheng Liang in front of her and wondered if this place was none other than the royal palace.

Because what place other than the royal palace can be this much luxurious and gives out royal vibes?

While Yang Ning was still in her half-sleepy state and was glad to see Zheng Liang, she was confused when he suddenly sent the maid outside and was walking toward her.

‘Hmm? Is he angry because I broke his jade porcelain?’ She wondered.

She was about to apologize to him for the loss, however, before she could do that, she was surprised when he approached her in long strides and stood in front of her.

He looked down at her feet bleeding and let out a sigh before he bent down and carried her in his arms in a princess style.

“This...What are you doing? You don’t need to do this.” Yang Ning squealed in surprise but ended up wrapping her arms around his neck to balance her weight while he carried her in his arms.

Her cheeks turned crimson by the sudden intimacy and wondered if it was even necessary. ” You...You don’t need to do that. I can walk.” She tried to convince him but he didn’t respond to her words and carried her to the bed while avoiding the broken pieces of porcelain on the ground.

After Zheng Liang put down Yang Ning on the bed, he looked at her seriously and asked, ” What were you doing and not resting? Do you like to put yourself in danger?” He asked coldly while looking around for a cloth to clean the blood off her feet.

Yang Ning didn’t say anything and watched him pull the sharp shards out of her skin and wipe her legs. “I...I can do it.” She tried to take the cloth from his hands because she couldn’t bear the embarrassment while he wiped her legs.

But he didn’t allow her to do so and glared at her instead as if telling her to take her hands from the cloth. She pursed her lips and quietly retracted her hands and let him do all the work.

” You’re such a handful person. I left you alone for a while and you ended up hurting yourself. How are you even alive till this day?” He remarked coldly as if scolding her for hurting herself. She was already weak and sick yet she got off the bed and even walked over the broken pieces of the showpiece.

Who does that?

Yang Ning stared at him and smiled bitterly. ” Haha! Am I even alive?” She asked sarcastically.

She is Fang Li and is living as Yang Ning. She wasn’t sure if she should classify herself as a human now or not. She is not a ghost, is she?

Zheng Liang looked up at her and raised his brows curiously, ” Are you not?”
