CH 75

[Hated Hero, Going on a Date at the Summer Resort with the Fiancée]

The next day.

Tayte and I were walking around the natural park at the foot of Mt. Risten, considered to be the highest mountain in the area.

“The atmosphere is so nice~.”

“I know right? The atmosphere in the academy isn’t bad either, but there’s something special about the atmosphere here.”

A white dress and a white hat.

The pure white outfit expressed Tayte’s neatness and cleanliness, and I unknowingly was fascinated by it.

A beautiful girl strolling in the middle of nature… I was so lucky to get to admire such a wonderful sight!

Oh, that reminded me, we’d get married in the future.

If so, I’d get to be with Tayte not just for today but for the rest of our lives—what the hell? I felt like I was going to be overloaded with happiness.

“Ah, look, Barrett! A fish just jumped out of the surface of the lake!”

“Ohh, that was quite a big one. Looks worth fishing.”

“Have you fished before?”

“No, I haven’t, but since the lake is so beautiful, it looks like you can catch some nice fish, so I was thinking of giving it a try.”

“I want to come along if you go fishing!”

“Well, let’s go after having lunch, then. We should be able to get a fishing rod in town.”

“Yay♪.”

Tayte got excited over even the smallest of things.

She was so pure.

“Young Master Barrett.”

“Nuo!”

A voice suddenly called my name from behind, causing me to leak out a strange voice involuntarily.

“R-Rebecca?”

The owner of the voice was Rebecca, one of my three maids.

Behind Rebecca, I could see Marina, Priim, and Eureka setting up the table and chairs for lunch.

“Uhh… what’s the matter?”

“If you want to go fishing, I already have a fishing rod ready for you.”

“Huh!?”

How prepared.

I’d never mentioned anything about fishing. I’d just suddenly get the urge to try it after seeing the fish jumping out of the surface of the lake Tayte had pointed out earlier. Could it be that she had foreseen it?!

“Young Master, don’t let her deceive you. Rebecca brought some fishing rods only because she was planning to secretly fish later.”

“M-Marina?!”

Oh, so that was the case.

Although Rebecca got mad at getting told on, the four maids somehow made up and continued with the lunch preparations.

“Okay, we’ll continue to walk around for a bit.”

“Understood.”

Having informed Marina, Tayte and I walked away.

By poring over (former)Barrett’s memories, I had a general grasp of the surroundings.

But what perplexed me was that I couldn’t find Tayte anywhere in the memories.

Did it mean that (former)Barrett had never brought Tayte, his fiancée, here even though he’d always taken a vacation here in summer?

I could see in the memories that he’d always called out to other girls at parties, too… it made me both disgusted and infuriated at the same time.

It seemed that Father and Mother had also been worried about his relationship with Tayte, but their words had never gotten through to (former)Barrett.

He did only whatever he pleased.

Surely, by this time in the original storyline, Father, Mother, and Reina’s feelings toward (former)Barrett had already started to go in the negative direction.

Reina would even turn to hate him because of what would happen to Mr. Abel later on.

――But now, I would never let such a dark future come to pass.

“The weather is so nice.”

“Yeah. And the climate is cool, making the temperature comfortable.”

Tayte and I held hands as we walked along a path surrounded by trees.

At that point, the nearby bushes suddenly began to rustle.

“! B-Barrett!”

“Get behind me, Tayte!”

I had Tayte stand behind me as I put my hand on the Holy Sword.

What came out of the bushes was…

“Haa, haa, haa… we finally managed to find a man-made path, Raul.”

“Y-yes, now let’s look for a person and—ah! Lord Barrett!”

…Holy Knight Klaus and his disciple the Protagonist Raul.

Uhh, weren’t they on a training journey?
