[Hated Hero Misjudged]

In order to give Eureka confidence, I decided to have Ms. Teixeira check her aptitude for magic.

Knowing the original storyline, I was completely sure that her aptitude was off the charts.

This should make Eureka gain confidence in herself, which in turn should make her feel easier to interact with Raul.

I hadn’t had a doubt that that was the case, but…

“I’m afraid… you have misjudged this time.”

“?!”

I was shocked at Ms. Teixeira’s words.

If it was the same as the original storyline, Eureka should be a genius when it came to magic.

But Ms. Teixeira’s examination result was…

“Her aptitude for magic is no different from ordinary people.”

…completely different from my expectation.

“N-no, that can’t be…”

“Did you notice something in her that led you to believe otherwise?”

“M-my intuition told me Eureka has the qualities of a sorceress… b-but there’s no basis for that.”

I couldn’t say I knew it from the original storyline, after all.

I slowly turned around.

Sandwiched between Tayte and Jarvis, Eureka smiled, “Thank you, Lord Barrett.”

“Huh?”

I ended up replying in a stupid voice unintentionally at her sudden thanks.

“Thank you for giving me the chance to have my magic aptitude examined. I’m really grateful to you.”

Eureka said, bowing her head. Tayte and Jarvis, standing by her sides, softened their expressions.

It appeared that the three of them thought that I’d brought Eureka here to encourage her.

Which was true, but I also had been hoping that Eureka’s awakening event would start here.

However, those expectations ended up in vain.

◇◇◇

Ms. Teixeira said that Eureka had recovered enough that she could get back to maid work as soon as tomorrow, and the mood turned peaceful.

Still, nothing had been solved yet.

I kept worrying about it even as I was walking back to the dormitories with Tayte after parting with Jarvis, who had gone to the teachers’ room on a class errand.

At this rate, Eureka and Raul would only drift further apart.

They had a hostile relationship in the original storyline, but here I wanted to bring them together. After all, from what I’d seen so far, Raul’s feelings actually weren’t one-sided, Eureka seemed to have some feelings for him too…

Still, I wondered why Eureka didn’t have the aptitude for magic.

Ms. Teixeira personally examined her, so it was unlikely to be wrong.

I could think of two possibilities.

First, this world’s flow was completely different from the original storyline.

Second, the prerequisite flags to start her awakening event had yet been triggered.

From my experience so far, excluding my existence, this world still mostly followed the original storyline.

In which case, the latter was more likely.

At that time, Tayte spoke while looking at my face, “Barrett, are you still worried about Eureka?”

“! Y-yeah.”

Her guess was right on the mark.

I didn’t know how she did it, but she had been able to read my thoughts these days…

“Eureka was sincerely grateful to you, you know? She was so moved, and she said she didn’t know how she could repay for doing so much for a maid like her.”

“…But…”

“I, too, am very grateful to you. Eureka is my family’s maid, and yet you showed so much care for her…”

“Tayte…”

Tayte consoled me, but I was left with indescribable frustration. Eureka should have an amazing talent for magic. But for some reason, the examination result said otherwise.

Did she need some sort of impetus…?

“Please don’t worry too much, Barrett.”

“A-alright…”

Still, I couldn’t get it off my mind…

“Barrett…

“Okay, I’ve decided, I will be encouraging you this time!” Tayte puffed out her chest and declared.
