CH 108

[Time to Fight]

We set out to the town where Mr. Abel, my future brother-in-law, was assigned guard duty.

Initially, Tayte and I were the only ones going to accompany Reina, but due to the sudden order from the principal, all members of the Knights of the Academy ended up coming along.

So, presently, all five of us were riding in a large carriage.

“I-I wonder how the real knights work…”

“Uh, I’m getting nervous.”

Jarvis and Raul, who were aiming to join the Order of Knights in the future, looked really nervous.

“Get a grip, Raul. Even if you’re nervous, you must put up a brave front.”

“Eureka…” Raul recovered his spirit with the encouragement of his lover Eureka.

But in Jarvis’s case…

“Jarvis, quit thinking too much. Just show yourself the way you always are, and everything will be fine.”

“Barrett…”

Jarvis stared at me with moist eyes.

Then…

“Lord Jarvis, stop right there!”

Eureka called our attention to her.

She continued, “Lord Jarvis, when Lord Barrett said those kind words to you just now, you completely looked like a maiden, you know?”

“Ueh?! …Did I?”

Jarvis was flustered hearing Eureka’s pointing that out.

…I also felt like Jarvis’s gestures had been becoming more and more feminine these days.

While outwardly she looked like a boy, she was, in truth, a girl. She might be reaching an age where she was finding it difficult to go against her true nature.

But in the original storyline, she didn’t show any hint of femininity… I wondered if there had been some kind of big change to her mentality. If that was the case, Tayte and/or I were most likely involved in it. Was our encounter in the bathhouse the trigger?

—More importantly, wouldn’t Eureka’s words cause a misunderstanding?

When I timidly tried to look at Tayte’s face…

“Well, Barrett is kind to everyone ♪.”

…there I found an angel.

Ah, no.

It was Tayte.

Well, Tayte was an angel, so I wasn’t exactly wrong.

—As you could tell from our exchanges so far, Raul and Eureka had been informed about Jarvis’s true gender at the request of Jarvis himself.

They had been left confused at first, but they both accepted and said they would cooperate to keep the secret.

…Speaking of which, I wonder how it was in the original storyline.

Barrett learned Jarvis’s secret, and he used it to blackmail her, making her his close aide. Raul and Eureka were also in the hero party, I wondered if they knew it.

“? Is something the matter, Lord Barrett?”

“?! N, no, it’s nothing, Eureka.”

Not good.

My bad habit reared its head again.

Whatever happened in the original storyline didn’t matter.

Now the five of us were getting along well and growing up as a healthy hero party, after all.

At that time, I suddenly met Tayte’s eyes.

“Hopefully Reina will be able to properly give her gift to Mr. Abel.”

“Yeah…”

It was okay.

I was sure she would.

She had worked so hard to make it.

After a few hours of being rocked in the carriage.

We finally arrived in a rural town.

“I-it really is rural, huh…”

I’d heard it was rural, but truth be told, I didn’t think it would be this rural.

There were wheat fields as far as the eye could see.

I could see windmills in the distance, and there were places where cows and horses were grazing.

…This was mystifying.

Mr. Able was expected to have a bright future in the Order of Knights.

Why was he assigned to guard a place that seemed far unrelated to combat or conflict like this?

…Could it be that he got demoted?

When my thought reached that point…

“Hey, everyone! It’s good to see you again!”

The person in question, Mr. Abel, came over with his subordinates.

Now, Reina—it was time for you to fight!
