CH 150

[A Short Break]

After the martial art tournament.

There was still one hour until the afterparty, so Raul and I decided to wash off our sweat in the bathroom attached to the venue.

“Phew…it’s refreshing isn’t it, Lord Barrett!”

“Totally!”

Besides us, almost all the students who participated in the martial arts tournament also took a bath in the communal bathroom.

Of course, since it was men’s, it was a sausage fest. While they had been competitors, now that the martial arts tournament was over, everyone was chatting casually, regardless of seniority.

Many of them talked to me, too.

It was delightful.

“Barrett. That was a good match.”

As I was soaking in the hot water side by side with Raul, Forganes, who defeated Milsey in the first match, called out to me.

“Ah, thank you, Forganes.”

“You guys were so amazing that our matches were more like appetizers for the main dish. Right, Leontien?”

“You said it.” Leontien, who had also won his match, agreed with a hint of exasperation in his voice.

His expression was slightly clouded.

It was so unlike him. He usually was always cheerful no matter the occasion. “I don’t mean to slight him… but honestly, I didn’t expect Jarvis to fight so well.”

“Mhm. I, too, thought the match would have settled sooner…” Forganes seemed to have the same opinion.

Me versus Jarvis—most had been expecting that I would ‘win’.

The reason for this was most likely because I had the Holy Sword.

If Jarvis had been bestowed with the Holy Sword instead, I was sure she would have won instead.

I relied on the Holy Sword’s power to defeat many enemies; I knew its power better than anyone.

“You wouldn’t believe how much effort Jarvis put into training. He wasn’t an easy opponent to beat.” I said to my two seniors.

I couldn’t help but feel that people’s expectations of Jarvis had been lowered unjustly just because she had been matched up with me.

Jarvis had become so strong that I was sure only a few in the academy could beat her.

The spells Jarvis used during our match… only if you faced them directly could you tell how terrifying they were.

“Wait, now that we’re talking about him, where’s Jarvis?” Leontien noticed that Jarvis was not in the bathroom.

It was only natural.

Though she presented herself as a boy, Jarvis was, in fact, a girl.

She was forced to live as a boy and she would never do anything that risked exposing her secret.

“…………”

She would never—she should never.

However… I was worried about Jarvis’s words and behavior during our match.

Jarvis seemed to have made a critically important decision. And whatever it was, it would be revealed during the afterparty. She had said so herself.

I was sure this didn’t happen in the original storyline.

It would probably be a turning point for Jarvis.

To let Jarvis have a good ending… what could I do for her…
