[Result Announcement]

The day after the exam.

The usually lively cafeteria was very quiet today.

The reason being, the results of the exam would be announced today.

Everyone was very nervous.

Among them… Andrei was the tensest.

It took him five minutes to respond when I said hi to him.

It was clear he wasn’t confident in scoring even 250 points, which was a passing grade.

After having breakfast, I went to the classroom with Tayte as usual.

We were exchanging greetings with Cornell, Kleine, and our other classmates when it became noisy in the corridor.

It seemed the exam results had been posted.

“It’s time, huh…”

I wondered why.

I did pretty well during the exam and I was sure I could avoid the supplementary lessons—but still, I was filled with nervousness… I must be worried about Andrei.

I could see Andrei taking a deep breath and slapping his cheeks vigorously to rouse his spirit before leaving the classroom.

“H-he is so fired up…”

“H-he sure is…”

Tayte and I said to each other while seeing off his broad back.

…But I mean, what was the point of getting all fired up afterthe exam…? Wasn’t it too late? Well, not that it mattered.

We went out into the corridor, following Andrei.

Many students were gathered in front of the notice board, among them were Raul and Eureka.

I checked Andrei’s score before my own.

I started from the bottom, near the 250s, and…

[Andrei Fontana 249 points]

““Ah.””

My voice and Tayte’s overlapped perfectly.

It seemed Tayte also had been checking Andrei’s score first.

Incidentally, ours were pretty high.

This was the result of our daily study sessions.

…Wait, that wasn’t the priority now.

Andrei really messed up this time.

With this, he wouldn’t be able to attend the Ehrenbergs’ party, which was where he planned to confess as he had to take supplementary lessons.

“…………”

Andrei himself was dazed.

He just stood there seeming unable to accept reality.

Now… what to do?

◇◇◇

In the next class, our answer sheets were given back to us unlike usual.

The students were happy and sad seeing the returned answer sheets.

“Let’s review our mistakes together later♪.”

“Sure.”

Now that we’d decided what to do for today’s study session, we went to speak with Andrei.

“Andrei…”

“…Sorry, Barrett.”

Andrei apologized while curling his large body into a small ball.

I got where he was coming from… but he sure was depressed.

I couldn’t find any words to say.

–At that time…

“Oh? Isn’t this…”

Tayte, looking at Andrei’s answer sheet for Potions, pointed to a question.

“Here… you got it right, but is marked wrong.”

““Huh?””

Both Andrei and I mutely stared at it for a moment and then…

“Ah! It’s true!”

“I-in that case!”

This question was worth 2 points.

Which meant…

“Your actual total score is 251 points—you passed!”

“Uoooooooooooo!!!!”

With determination to avoid the supplementary lessons, Andrei screamed and ran to Mr. Walter.

Well, looked like we managed to get through the first obstacle.
