[Tayte Rescue Operation]

Seeing Tayte sneakily trying to escape left us shaken, but we immediately pulled ourselves together and decided to carry out the rescue operation.

However, moving in a large group would increase the chance of us being detected.

Therefore, we split into two groups. Raul, Eureka, and I were in the rescue group, whereas Jarvis, Andrei, and Madeline were in the waiting group. I then told Jarvis to take command of the waiting group in case something happens.

“Okay. Be careful out there, Barrett.”

“I sure will.”

Thus, we began the rescue operation.

Tayte was crouching on the terrace.

No wonder.

Under the terrace, several armed rioters were patrolling. She’d immediately get caught if she made even the slightest noise. It was clear from her actions that she didn’t go outside with their consent.

–Lord Alonso and Lady Lilia must have helped her. Once the rioters found that Tayte had gone… I couldn’t imagine what they would do to them.

…I was sure they were clearly aware of the risks, but the fact that they had helped Tayte regardless just went to show how much they loved her and that they were willing to sacrifice their lives for her.

“Lord Barrett, what do we do now?” asked Raul worriedly.

“…I’m still trying to figure that out.”

We managed to infiltrate the mansion’s grounds from the rear gate.

However, now we were stuck. The mansion had multiple entrances which I had no idea led to where since I’d never been to it before.

Still, we’d gotta pick one and quick.

As we spoke, the danger was approaching not only Tayte but also her parents, so we couldn’t take our time.

At that time…

“Lord Barrett, over there.”

Eureka, hiding in the bush together with us, noticed something and whispered.

In the direction she pointed there was a door to enter the mansion and it had two rioters guarding it.

“They’ve sure got tight security there…”

Which in all likelihood meant that it led to where the hostages were held… Looked like we’d found our entrance.

Now, the only problem left was how would we enter.

Defeating the two guards wouldn’t be difficult. But we must do it as quietly and as quickly as possible since we didn’t want to alert the other rioters in the area. If they learned there were intruders, I could only imagine what they would do to the hostages.

“We’re going to take them down, but we must be quick and discreet.”

“Y-yes…”

“I agree…”

Both Raul and Eureka nodded, but they couldn’t hide their nervousness.

I shared the same feeling.

I wanted to rescue Tayte and the other hostages as soon as possible, but I didn’t want to endanger them by acting carelessly.

We must be careful and quick.

I imbued my mana into the Holy Sword.

Before they’ve got the chance to raise their voices… No sooner had that thought surfaced in my mind than I started running.

““?!””

I caught a glimpse of Raul and Eureka’s expressions from the corner of my eyes.

But I couldn’t stop anymore.

“! W—”

I sealed the movement of the two guards with a restraint spell and knocked them unconscious with a strike to the back of their necks.

“That should do it.”

I opened the door and took a peek inside.

It seemed to be a kitchen, and there was no sign of anyone.

I threw the two guards into the adjacent food storage warehouse and called Raul and Eureka over.

“Let’s head to the terrace where Tayte is.”

““Okay.””

After whispering our next course of action, I left the kitchen.
