CH 12

Chapter 12. [Language Cheat Ability]

In the recent Korea-Japan-US collaboration, for some reason, I could speak Korean but could not read Hangeul.

And, as is still the case, I should not read Hangeul.

“Well, I guess that’s true.”

I am a little relieved.

There is no way that I could have learned to read a foreign language before I knew it.

It’s not possible.

I’m not sure what I was trying to do.

Just for comfort, I flipped through the pages of the book.

“–What?”

My hand stopped at a page.

There was the so-called “syllabary table” of Hangul.

“Whoa!”

I felt my vision rapidly open up.

A voice leaked out unintentionally. My brain begins to spin rapidly, regardless of my intention.

“I can read it….”

I turn the pages of the textbook one after another.

Until a few minutes ago, they appeared to me as a string of unintelligible words.

But now, I could recognize them as sentences.

“So that’s how it is, huh?”

It was the result of my cheat-like language ability.

I have some ideas about this ability.

Based on my experience, there are probably three conditions for activating the ability.

1. A large amount of input.

2. An understanding of the language rules

3. Experience.

To be precise, I think input and rules are necessary conditions, and experience is the ability’s trigger.

Without such a condition, the timing of when I could understand is too mysterious.

And as for the rules, it seems that if you have a huge amount of input, you can screw them up.

Conversely, if I know the rules, I need less input.

It’s a trade-off of sorts.

And that’s getting a little complicated.

Take Korean, for example.

In my previous life, I listened to Korean dramas under my mom’s influence.

I had already gathered enough input through this.

However, the subtitles are displayed in Japanese.

Therefore, I did not have enough Hangeul input.

However, Hangeul is a phonetic alphabet.

Simply put, pronunciation and characters correspond one to one.

The relationship is similar to that between Japanese pronunciation and hiragana.

The letters themselves do not have their meanings, nor do their pronunciations change drastically from word to word, as is the case with kanji.

Although the definitions of consonants and vowels in Hangeul are different from Japanese.

Conversely, once I understand differences (rules), writing is easy for those who can speak.

I never studied Korean directly, so I didn’t know the rules.

That’s why I could speak Korean but not read Hangeul.

“This is not normal, even though it’s.”

According to the book, Hangeul is made by a combination of consonants and vowels.

Therefore, it is so easy to understand that I can memorize it in half a day.

In my case, it took me only a moment.

And I had no idea what I was supposed to understand in an instant until I looked at this syllabary chart.

In many ways, I feel an imbalance in my cheat-like linguistic ability.

Well, I’ve said a lot of things, but honestly, these things don’t matter!

What matters is.

“Let’s see. This.”

I find a Korean vocabulary book and open it.

I hide the Japanese part and look at it.

I still can’t read the words I don’t know.

But once I move my hand away and look at the Japanese translation, I never forget it.

Just by flipping through the word book, data is stored in my brain at a tremendous speed.

“Wow! This is amazing! This means–this means I can understand all the content of the Korean VTubers’ streams!”

After dying once, I realized that I had strange abilities.

But I never thought it would be this useful!

“No, wait?”

I picked up a nearby French vocabulary book.

I flip through the pages.

“Ooooohhhhh! Amazing! Now I can understand the banging French streams.”

I’m knocked over.

Aaaaaaah! I scream from the lending desk.

My vision was spinning.

My head was burning as it had overheated.

*  *  *

Well, it was a tough time.

After that, the school nurse rushed to the hospital, an ambulance took me to the hospital, and my parents came rushing in. Then my stream for that day was abruptly canceled.

“I’m surprised.”

I was talking about what happened to me while putting in fakes.

Falling and being taken to the hospital was an experience that was not even in my previous life.

>Something like that happened?

>I was so worried.

>Why are you streaming it the next day without a care in the world?

“I’m feeling fine now, don’t worry. After I woke up, the doctor gave me a little IV drip, and I came home.”

>Isn’t it better to rest properly?

>Wasn’t he told to rest for a few days?

>What was the cause after all?

“The doctor said I was overworked?”

>Isn’t overwork in an elementary school bad?

>Maybe it was the stream?

>Maybe studying too hard?

“I’m not sure about that…”

But I couldn’t think of any cause other than the abuse of my cheat-like language ability.

No wonder they said I was overworking my brain to learn that much in such a short time.

From now on, I’ll try to remember it steadily every day.

I didn’t have any problems until I got to the halfway point.

Hmmm!

And eventually, I’ll be able to watch VTubers from all over the world!

And if I think about it, this capability is not so scary.

It’s like having a super accurate, super fast, and analytical translator.

It does seem to have a bit of a waste heat problem, though.

>Isn’t it scary to be overworked when you don’t know the cause?

>I think you should get a full checkup once.

>I’m worried about you.

“Don’t worry, VTubers are good for all diseases. How can I not be in good health when I watch them every day?”

>LOL

>Normal thing, huh? wwww

>Laughing at the gory mentality.

“I can understand English and Korean these days! I’m too happy. I have to catch up on the archives. And there are so many things to watch. I watch for over 12 hours every day. And I still don’t have enough time.”

>That’s the reason you’re so overworked!

>Eh, you’ve got school and stream, too, right?

>This is a calculation that you hardly slept.

>How come you haven’t collapsed before?

“What are you talking about? In other words, it is no exaggeration to say that I am resting for 36 hours every day.”

>Don’t proudly announce it!

>That’s an exaggeration!!!

>Someone stops this girl!

At that moment, a knock sounded in the room.

I was just chatting while streaming, so I didn’t have my headphones on, and I noticed it immediately.

“What, mom? I’m in the middle of a stream. …Everyone holds on for a second.”

>Ok.

>Iromama (Irohaha) came.

>I am always indebted to your daughter

I open the door to my room and respond.

It’s the first time she comes during the stream. It must have been very urgent.

“What’s wrong?”

“From now on, you can only watch MyTube for an hour a day.”

“What?

“Nothing and shit! Do you know how many people worried about you when you collapsed? You said you didn’t know anything, and then you did that!”

“Eeeeeeeee!? It’s not right. There are some circumstances. Watching the stream is rather healing.”

“I told you.”

“Wait…”

The door slammed shut, and my mom left.

What an idiot. How could this happen?

Well, being a child isn’t just convenient.

For the first time, I realized that children can be restricted from the freedoms independent adults have.

“This sucks.”

I muttered as I came back to my computer.

The flow of comments is accelerating.

>LOL

>This is self-inflicted.

>Iromama, good job!

“Oh, I thought you guys could hear me! I forgot to mute it. Well, I don’t care. It sucks. I can only watch MyTube for an hour a day. There are so many archives I haven’t seen yet.”

It seemed like I should ignore what my mom said, but I had a situation that made it impossible for me to do that.

My mom managed the MyTube account I use.

If I offended her, she would delete my account.

No choice, I sighed.

“From today on, I’ll start digesting my non-MyTube stream archives.”

>Not that!

>You don’t understand anything. LOL

>Don’t be angry about that. www

This time someone opened the door fully without knocking.

I was pissed off.

My mental age is an old man.

And I have learned that being lectured by an old man can cause tremendous psychological damage.

But for me, too, this was a non-negotiable point.

After persistent negotiations, we finally settled on two hours on weekdays and five hours on weekends.

The exchange was that I would need to consider taking the entrance examination for junior high school.

Hey, if you’re worried about overwork, stop me from studying.

“Hiks, hiks… Only 2 hours is too much.”

>That’s enough!

>That’s a lot of time!!!

>You tried to persuade your mom and were preached even more. LOL

The unfortunate thing is that it’s almost summer vacation. Then I can watch VTubers for 5 hours every day.

But that’s still too little.

By the way, the stiff sermon was being streamed as it was.

Of course, they cut the elementary school girl’s serious crying.
