Chapter 220

220 Found it?

They were in the city center.

That was Kain’s answer to the team leader’s question. He answered them almost immediately and informed them of his location.

A few minutes later, a flash of light appeared at the said location and two people walked out of the teleportation circle.

“Kain!”

As soon as he left the teleportation circle, Kairen rushed to where Kain was.

“Ah!”

He stopped in his place for a moment to look at the pillar of smoke and fire in the distance. He was sure there was a fight going on in that place. Reyan too was staring at that spot with a serious face.

Kairen shook his head and walked towards Kain. They weren’t here to deal with that thing now. They were currently in a small park in the city center, searching for the bomb.

“Why are you...”

.....

As soon as Kain saw Kairen, his expression got even grimmer. He didn’t know that the person who wanted to come to their aid was Kairen. If he knew, he would have never given him the location. What was this fool thinking, jumping into a place where a bomb, no, four bombs were about to explode?

“Um...”

Kairen flinched at the man’s vicious gaze and looked around.

“So, have you found the bombs?”

Kain glared at Reyan once as if he was also scolding him in his mind before shaking his head.

“We’ve started the search only 5 minutes ago. There is no news about the bombs yet.”

Far in the distance, Kairen could see groups of people moving around. He knew that they were the citizens who were being guided by the agents and the police to somewhere safe.

Still, not knowing the exact location of the bombs, how could they make sure that the citizens would be in a safe place?

“Hmmm....”

Kairen peeked at Kain who was busily searching the area by moving a handful of water threats and water droplets and splashing them everywhere.

‘Should I ask him about Alessia?’

Kairen was worried about her and wanted to know what has happened to her. But now, looking at Kain’s grim expression and pale face, he doubted is he should really ask about her or not.

‘I’ll ask later.’

There was still a lot of time for that. After taking care of the bombs they could go check on Alessia as well, right?

Kairen glanced at Kain. He was frowning and his hands seemed to be slightly shaking. It looked like he was doing his best to look calm but it was obvious that he was anxious only by looking at his breathing and his movements.

“Sigh!”

Kairen sighed and shook his head. He too was anxious. He wanted to find the bomb as soon as possible and end this situation.

‘So, how are we supposed to find the bomb?’

The bomb had a similar energy to his own power. If so, couldn’t he just sense the bomb? The bomb he had seen a few minutes ago, the one that the soil dude was holding, gave off such an eerie and ominous aura that Kairen had to be super dumb to not notice such a thing around him.

‘I might really be super dumb. I don’t sense anything around this place.’

No matter how much he looked around, there was nothing strange in this place.

“Hey, Kain!”

Kairen pointed at the crowd of people that was being moved to the other side.

“Is it okay if I do some... strange stuff in front of their gazes?”

His words made Kain frown even more.

“What do you mean by doing ‘some strange stuff’ ?”

“Um...”

Kairen tilted his head.

“Nothing much?”

Kain’s eyes got even angrier.

“Come on! It’s an emergency! We should do anything we can to find the bomb!”

“What do you-”

Before Kain could finish his words, a gust of wind pushed on his body. Once he looked ahead, he could see strong wind surrounding Kairen.

‘I hope nothing crazy happens this time.’

With a slight push with his feet, Kairen jumped several meters in the air. The wind pushed him up and the reverse gravity spells he had cast helped him float in the air easily.

‘Now, I’ll just have to move around above this area.’

He had long solved the problems with floating spells. The last time he actually used such a spell in a mission was when the capital was attacked by the monsters. Back then, he thought that it was a really big flaw that he couldn’t use this spell to move around in the air and could only float in one spot.

In the two months that he was free and did nothing but train, he also considered working on this floating thing. He only started testing out different things out of boredom, but then captain Neal saw him and encouraged him to continue his work on finding a way to float.

Kairen still remembered how she grabbed his shoulders and looked at him with sparkling eyes and said: ‘So you are really testing out your theories? I want to see the result!.’

Kairen was dumbfounded at first.

What theory was she talking about? Kairen was just fooling around because he was bored.

Turns out she was talking about the nonsense Kairen had told captain Neal after she saw him floating in the air.

Kairen didn’t even remember what he had said until the woman reminded him.

-Can’t we just fly?

-Don’t ever think of that.

-W-why not?”

-Let’s assume you used Float to move to the sky, what next? How are you going to move in the air?”

-Can’t we just mix a few spells together?

-Like what?

-Um... If we first use Float to go up in the air... then use a weak gravity spell on ourselves to bind our bodies to earth with a low gravity force so that we wouldn’t float aimlessly, then add some spells related to air to it... Like some air pressure spells to change the air pressure above and below and... Then add a barrier to protect us from the air damaging our bodies while moving around... Plus a weak push spell mixed with wind control... Can’t we move in the air like that?

This whole thing was some random bullshit that came to his mind at that moment and he said them out of nervousness and also in order to not look bad in front of the captain. He didn’t think about them later and had already forgotten them. But it seems like that captain had thought otherwise and took all of his words seriously.

What surprised Kairen, even more, was that by changing some small things and adding some other spells to the ones he had mentioned he could actually fly in the air easily. Seeing how overjoyed and proud captain Neal was that her student was a genius, Kairen felt too guilty he almost ran to her to confess that what he said was nothing but bullshit, but he stopped himself. That would only make things worse.

‘I’ll just a little bit of it.’

Kairen activated his power once again. This time, he used only a small amount of it. A few cracks appeared around him and a small amount of energy engulfed his whole body.

He couldn’t use more than that anyway as he had overused his power previously and he also wanted to save strength in case anything happens.

“KAIREN!”

Kain’s loud yell was heard from down below.

“Stop! Come back down! Kairen! Are you listening to me?”

“I’ll come back after I search the whole place.”

“No! Come back now!”

Kairen glanced down at Kain.

‘Argh, why is he being like this?’

“Didn’t you hear? Come down!”

“No!”

Why did he need to go back? They had to find those fucking bombs as soon as possible and this was the best way.

“Kairen!!”

Completely ignoring Kain, Kairen moved in the air. He was not too high in the air, only high enough to reach the middle floors of those tall 20-floor residential buildings. For that reason, he was currently gathering a lot of attention. He could feel a lot of gazes on him from every corner. He was happy that he couldn’t hear their voices and see the people’s faces.

‘Anything that feels scary is the bomb...’

Keeping that in his mind, Kairen moved slowly in the air.

ZZZZ

ZZZZ

His cracks were also floating with him everywhere he went. He thought he might look like a big spider to the ones who were looking at him from the ground.

.....

“Ah!”

Kairen stopped moving.

“There...”

He mumbled under his lips and turned to his right side to look at a place. He was clearly feeling an ominous and scary pressure coming from that side. He stared at the spot where he had sensed the energy and slowly landed on the ground.

‘The supermarket?’

Kairen canceled his power to prevent any crazy thing from happening again and walked toward the supermarket. The closer he went, the stronger the ominous feeling got.

‘It’s definitely it.’

He was sure this was the energy he sensed not long ago.

‘The bomb is somewhere inside...’

Tap

He stopped in front of the supermarket. The people who were going inside and outside the supermarket all froze and stared at the young boy who suddenly landed in front of them.

“Hey, Kain.”

Kairen touched his communication device.

“I guess I found it.”

He looked at the three-floor supermarket.

“It’s somewhere inside this place.”

-What?

-Really?

-Give me the location! Hurry up!

-And stay away from that place. Don’t go near the bomb!

“Alright.”

Pressing a button on the device, the location was sent to Kain easily.

‘But how in the world are we supposed to find a fucking bomb hidden inside a supermarket?’

He could probably go inside and trace that aura until he reached the source of it, the bomb, but he didn’t. He was scared that his power would cause something again so he just stayed outside the building.

Kairen looked at his watch. There were still about 25 minutes left until the bomb would go off.

‘Should I tell the people to run away?’

But where they were supposed to run? Two spots in the city were already attacked. The people were panicked on their own. Kairen could see that most of the people had bought some junk food and seemed to be preparing to go hide somewhere as they were carrying a lot of stuff with them.

“Um... guys...”

Kairen didn’t need to try hard to gather their attention as all of the people were already staring at him.

“You shouldn’t stay here. Please move towards the-”

THUDDDDD

BOMMMM

Kairen couldn’t finish his sentence.

It was because of the object that fell from the sky, landed right in front of him with a loud sound, and even destroyed the asphalt.
