CH 28.1

Chapter 28.1 – Regenerating is Harder Than I Thought

It is difficult to tell the age of a mage.

No matter how old they look, they can still be uncharacteristically youthful. Even if they look old, they might be healthier than young ones.

It is because of the magical power produced by their magic organs, which are far larger than those of a commoner. Or it might also be because they have been genetically like that since ancient times.

No one has ever studied it but I think the truth may be the former.

The 38-year-old former mage, who had lost his magic organ, looked like a crumpled old man to a third party’s point of view.

「He is former Lieutenant Nassaf. He lost my magic organ 15 years ago.」

The wheelchair-bound former Lieutenant Nassaf took his time and slowly lifted his trembling arm.

He put the tip of his finger to the edge of his eye. Apparently, it was a salute.

I wonder if this battered man will be able to withstand the regeneration of his magic organ?

I have cut the bellies of many slaves to regenerate their organs but they have all been young slaves.

Now, I’m worried.

Thus, I decided to do something about his health first.

A hundred gold coins is a big deal so I have to do what I can.

In other words, I’ll just have to treat him like I treated my slaves.

Feed him, heal him, feed him again, and heal him again.

But this time, the patient has no teeth so it’s difficult.

Protein, amino acids, vitamins.

I made a liquid diet while calculating what he needs.

In any case, he had to get meat on his body first before we could do the procedure.

Even I was surprised how much meat was needed after I regenerated someone’s leg.

The extra muscles and fat were not enough that the other party even shrunk a little.

After a few days of eating a lot of food, the other party went back to normal but that’s kind of nightmarish.

Anyway, regeneration needs foundation.

A solid foundation.

「No, feed him all of it. If you won’t, I can’t heal him.」

「But I can’t bear to see my husband eat in agony….」

「Regenerating magic organ aside, if you don’t feed him, his body will get weaker and weaker and he’ll eventually die. You must feed him if you really care for him.」

「I know that but…..」

How do I appease this crying wife?

I had Nassaf-san forcefully feed, heal his digestive organ, forcefully fed, heal his circulatory organs, forcefully fed, and healed his respiratory organs. He gained little muscles after that.

And his bones are so scabby too.

His bone density was ridiculously low and it was no surprise that his spine had suffered compression fracture with only his own weight.

However, given the fact that he did not ask for regenerative treatment for it even though he’s rich, I thought maybe this person has already given up on living.

Or are the military pensions not that high?

Or was he in debt?

Well, it doesn’t matter.

All I need to do is heal.

The treatment was hard but at a tolerable level.

Basically, I left the care to the wife and took it slow over the past two weeks.

The time I spent with the patient itself was not that much so I took it easy.

This was okay, I think.

However, it seems that the magic organ is a very important organ for a human.

Most of Nassaf-san’s digestive organs were damaged in some way and it was very difficult to heal them.

Maybe humans use magic power to boost the functions of other organs.

Incidentally, since a magic organ is an organ, if you try to transplant it, it will be rejected by the body and the person will die.

Apparently, this is a field that is being researched by dark mages so there’s not much information available to us.

As Nassaf-san’s body regained health, he was able to hold a spoon by himself.

I think he’s ready to go home.

It was time for him to get his magic organ healed and go home.

The day of the surgery was a fine day.

No school, no play to watch.

Well, if I finish early, should I go out somewhere? It was a fine day after all.

「Doctor….am I really going to be cured?」

「I’m certain that you’ll be cured. I’ll do it fast since today will be your last day like that.」

「Fast, is it…..」

Nassaf-san, who has raised his upper body, looked at me with a smile on his face.

Of course, I’m sure he’ll be cured since he has already recovered to the point where he could talk.

I lay him on the side and cast sleep magic on him.

Sleep well, Nassaf-san.

When you wake up, everything’s over.
