CH 10

The narrow, pitch-black quilt cabinet was like a small refuge, isolated in this corner of the quiet world, away from the dangerous and boisterous noise.

Yan Yi lied inside the little quilt nest, silently listening to the alpha on the phone who tried to find a conversational topic to talk about.

“What surgery will you be going for?” The alpha was constantly a little worried about this.

Yan Yi refused to tell him.

“Where are you now?” The alpha asked.

Yan Yi said quietly, “In the quilt cabinet, I’m preg- pregnant, my stomach is bulging out, I have to stay in the nest.”

He seemed to have heard the person on the line drop something, and from a direction beyond the phone receiver, he listened to a voice saying, “fuck, fuck”.

The alpha’s gasp was distinctively more harsh than before, “You have an alpha? Why aren’t you marked? Why did he let you get pregnant now when you’re about to go for surgery? Where did this dick of a dog alpha come from?”

Yan Yi shrank into a smaller ball, his soft rabbit ears shook and curled into cream cheese rolls, “You’re too loud.”

Stunned, the alpha lowered his voice.

Yan Yi touched his slightly bulging belly, “Don’t blame him… it happened more than ten days ago, we didn’t know I would be going for surgery at that time, it looks like I have to delay the surgery.”

The alpha didn’t speak anymore.

DId he sleep through some parts of physiology class in university? How could an omega have a reaction after being pregnant for over ten days? Even his stomach is bulging.

The alpha asked puzzledly, “Are you sure? Is there anyone with you? No one cared even when you were in so much pain before, and it was me who traveled all the way with great effort to… bring you snacks.”

He was afraid of offending this little rabbit, so he didn’t continue.

In the ward, the alpha had held him throughout the night, consistently releasing soothing pheromones and gently caressing him to make him feel a little better.

Although much of his dedication was due to his attraction to Yan Yi’s pheromones.

From the moment he met Yan Yi at the gas station on the highway for the first time, the alpha felt a great sense of gravitational temptation; they were most likely very compatible.

As long as the lop-eared rabbit wouldn’t be marked one day, every alpha in the world would have a chance to pursue him. What’s more, he was so beautiful and sexy.

So the alpha didn’t want to give up too easily.

Yan Yi lied on his side in the nest, speaking in a languid and slightly hoarse voice, “Don’t call again, my alpha treats me very well, the only reason he couldn’t keep me company was because he’s very busy with work.”

He held my hand today, and I could dream of receiving his wholehearted love and affection.

Before he could finish speaking, suddenly, the quilt cabinet door was pulled open. Yan Yi’s rabbit ears stood upright from the blinding light. He raised his arm to cover his eyes, and the phone fell into the corner with the line still connected.

Lu Shangjin looked down at Yan Yi from above, “Why are you hiding here? The hospital had just informed me that the omega who was ahead of you on the waiting list was temporarily transferred to another hospital, so you can undergo the gland replacement operation tomorrow. Come back with me to get ready.”

Yan Yi’s eyes hadn’t adjusted to the light from outside, he squinted them into slits as he looked at Lu Shangjin, “I’m not having the operation…I’ll do it after a while, I’m preg…”

“Why are you acting up again?” Lu Shangjin was dissatisfied with his repeated disobedience today. Grabbing Yan Yi’s wrist, he abrasively dragged his entire body out of the cabinet and tossed him at his feet.

Pregnant rabbits will become extremely aggressive, irritable and violent. Yan Yi was also infuriated by this threatening action as he grabbed Lu Shangjin’s forearm.

His original strength was sufficient enough to expel any threat a few meters away. But he didn’t have a single bit of strength left as his glands had been continuously injected with drugs. He was as weak as a vine clinging onto Lu Shangjin’s sleeve, able to break away with a gentle touch.

He could only protect his little belly as he retreated into the corner of the wall, staring warily at Lu Shangjin, “I’m not having the operation, don’t come any closer.”

Lu Shangjin forcibly grabbed Yan Yi’s arm and hauled him out, “Get over here.”

Yan Yi struggled desperately, trying to pull his hand out of the pincer-like grip. He was just a little rabbit caught by a peregrine falcon with no power to fight back at all, and could only hopelessly wait to be pecked at, to be torn into a bloody skeletal corpse and dumped in a wasteland before being eaten into a snow-white decaying specimen by ants.

“Stay away from me!” Yan Yi shouted with red-rimmed eyes as he kicked Lu Shangjin’s lower leg.

Even if he was just a little rabbit, his kick was still lethal.

Lu Shangjin felt a sharp pain in his lower leg, as though a drop of water fell into concentrated sulfuric acid, causing him to instantly explode. He lifted Yan Yi off the ground, walked out of the house and tossed him out of the front steps.

“Get lost,” He said.

Lu Shangjin sat in his car as he skillfully yet impatiently reversed and steered the wheel, kicking up a cloud of smoke all the way. Leaving Yan Yi, who was helplessly sitting on the gravel road, in the rearview mirror, he gradually disappeared.

In his address book, there was a row of sweet, soft and obedient omegas waiting for him to copulate with. He had been rewarding Yan Yi with too much attention.

The forgotten phone in the quilt cabinet was still on. The alpha on the line had been listening to the commotion, and the explosive argument gradually faded away.

Blue veins burst into the alpha’s hand that was holding onto the phone, as he listened to the argument that was clearly unequal in strength between the people involved. That little rabbit was too vulnerable while being pregnant with something unknown. This round of argument had become a one-sided domestic violence.

He carefully distinguished the familiar alpha’s voice on the other line.

“Lu Shangjin?”

A lot of people knew that Lu Shangjin had a family with a gentle and virtuous omega partner who lived in seclusion in their home,

Who would have thought that it would be this perfectly harmonious.
