CH 71

Warm yellow curtains were replaced in the bedroom. The tiny floral embroidery was playful and warm, clustering  around a fluffy white rabbit with a small flower pinned to its ear.

Yan Yi sat against the head of the bed as he touched the soft and delicate fabric.

He guessed it might be that Lu Shangjin’s assistant had changed and the new one was more attentive, deliberately taking into account the omega’s current physical condition when setting up the bedroom.

Hearing footsteps upstairs through the bedroom door, Yan Yi rolled over and laid down with his back facing the door. He closed his eyes.

Lu Shangjin pushed open the bedroom door, when he saw Yan Yi sleeping, he lightened his footsteps even more. Holding two pots of cactus in his arms, he stood in the corner and measured the position before placing each one pot on the windowsill and on the desk.

He also personally brought a bowl of sticky white fungus soup and put it on the table. He then sat by the bed and looked at Yan Yi.

“Get up and drink some white fungus soup if you can’t sleep.” Lu Shangjin gently touched him. “What do you want to eat for lunch? I’ll make it for you.”

Yan Yi opened his eyes and said lightly, “I don’t want to eat anything.”

“Carrot pie. Okay.” Lu Shangjin propped one hand on the edge of the bed to look at him. “What about the side dishes? Mixed chrysanthemum or tomatoes?”

“I said I didn’t want to eat.”

“Ah, mixed chrysanthemum.” Lu Shangjin noted down.

Yan Yi rolled over and sat up, his light grey hair messily covering half of his rabbit ears.

“Are you very happy?” Yan Yi asked with a cold smile. “Using a child to kidnap me so I will be trapped by your side all the time. Really, your tactics are so despicable. What do you take a small child for? A bargaining chip? Is there anything more important than yourself in your eyes?”

Lu Shangjin patiently released soothing pheromones to calm Yan Yi’s emotions. Pregnant omegas were sometimes especially irritable and temperamental. Not to mention, the wound in his little rabbit’s heart had yet to heal.

“Yes.” Lu Shangjin took the white fungus soup and stirred it before handing it to him. “I cooked the white fungus for two hours but it didn’t become sticky and thick. What’s going on?”

Yan Yi stirred it casually. “Isn’t this quite sticky.”

“It’s always not sticky, so I put some lotus root powder into it. The lotus root powder is sticky.” Lu Shangjin touched his chin, a bit like a husky who had come over to take the credit after trying to help his owner demolish his house.

Yan Yi: “…Why aren’t you going to work?”

“Today is Saturday. Eat while it’s hot, baobei.” Lu Shangjin picked up Yan Yi’s white tender feet curled up under the hem of his pyjamas and kissed them. “There are two people more important than me: you and the baby.”

“Let go!” Yan Yi forcefully broke free from his ankle that was grabbed, but Lu Shangjin had already gone downstairs to make noodles.

Yan Yi laid in the bedroom for a while. The more he thought about it, the more he felt his heart was blocked. Suddenly, he went to the closet and looked for a shirt. After changing clothes, he took his keys before going downstairs.

Lu Shangjin stood in the dining room, kneading the noodle dough with his left hand. His forearm and shirt were covered with flour. When he saw Yan Yi dressed in a going-out outfit, his face stiffened for a moment.

Then he realized he had no luggage with him, so his tense nerves relaxed only slightly. “Where are you going? I’ll drive you.”

Yan Yi looked down to pick up the car keys in the drawer.

“Coming back for lunch?” Lu Shangjin soaked the noodles with both hands before walking to the foyer wearing a light blue apron. “I’ll hire a chef to come over if you’re bringing a friend back.”

“You can eat by yourself.”

The door coldly flung shut, the cold air from the stairwell hitting Lu Shangjin’s face.  His cheeks, which had been previously slapped by Yan Yi at the hospital, faintly burned hot.

He went to take a shower and left the dining room in disorder without a care, then laid on the sofa and stared boredly at the clock on the wall. Every tick of the minute hand was tormenting.

So he grabbed his work computer and worked on some documents to pass the time.

There was an additional unsigned email in his mailbox.

Lu Shangjin narrowed his eyes and stared at the three words Shao Wenjing before drying his dripping hair with a towel.

The interview was held at a restaurant. Shao Wenjing picked up a cup of tea and took a sip, narrowing his peach blossom eyes slightly when he saw Lu Shangjin.

There was a momentary exchange of pheromones when the two alpha met. Shao Wenjing could see that the other’s glowing face was just masking exhaustion;a stern dignity that would not allow anyone to belittle him.

Lu Shangjin could also feel that the pheromones communicating with him carried an imperceptible air of illness. The cunning spider was injured.

“President Lu, what would you like to order? This restaurant has quite good dishes.” Shao Wenjing pushed the menu to Lu Shangjin and smiled cordially. “My treat.”

Lu Shangjin leaned back in his chair and met his eyes indifferently. “Business outside the country isn’t good anymore?”

“Let’s not talk about work today and talk about something else?” Shao Wenjing ordered a table of signature dishes. It was relatively easy to guess the taste of birds and beasts of prey.

After three rounds of wine, Lu Shangjin pinched the bridge of his nose.

Shao Wenjing’s hand pouring the wine into the mouth of the glass was a little inaccurate, but he was very polite. “We met once on your uncle’s cruise ship before. I also understand the purpose of your last visit. I’ve found the person you want. Send someone to pick them up at my place in two days.”

Lu Lin’s confidant was one of the few insiders. Lu Shangjin had been searching for him.

Shao Wenjing continued, “I injected poison into his brain and was able to pry things out of his mouth without torture.”

“So you do have a heart.” Lu Shangjin slightly raised the corner of his lips. “I could have let you go at first; a person with a child is always a bit difficult. But you touched my person, this can’t be ignored.”

“This is a misunderstanding.” Shao Wenjing smiled apologetically. “I admire Yan Yi, so I can’t help it. You have to admit, your omega is very attractive.”

Lu Shangjin raised his eyebrows slightly.

“Today I am mainly here to explain something to you. Before, I would have taken him away regardless of the consequences. I just couldn’t bear it this time.

“At the time, his lower body was covered in blood and was hiding in the closet in fear. You know, rabbits are too easily frightened.

“When I opened the wardrobe, he looked at me in fear and said…”

Lu Shangjin couldn’t maintain his mask of calm and indifference. He raised his eyes and asked, “What did he say?”

“Uh, he said …… ‘Jin ge, someone is bullying me’.” Shao Wenjing coughed lightly to cover up his embarrassment. “I think he had mistaken me for you.”

The pupils of Lu Shangjin’s eyes trembled slightly as his left hand under the table clenched tightly into a fist, his white knuckles cracking. Yan Yi’s fearful and weak expression lingered in front of his eyes. He felt his fingertips rip through his palm with utter hatred, the pain of regret making him gasp for breath.

When he got up to leave, Shao Wenjing stood up to see him out. “President Lu, because I still have to raise a child, please have mercy.”

In the past few months, his company had been stirred up, losing orders to customers. At the same time, the mafia had been eyeing him. He had to return to headquarters to take care of business, but as soon as he left the country, he would be intercepted and killed.

After a little investigation, he found out that Lu Shangjin had something to do with it, and there were even people rushing to flatter him.

If that was all, Shao Wenjing could clean it up by himself, but he had Lu Shangjin’s ruthless means to worry about, and whether he would make a move on Wenchi if he was urgent.

Tired of talking, Lu Shangjin asked the driver to turn around.

The driver asked where to go. Lu Shangjin rubbed his dull aching temples and hesitantly dialed Yan Yi’s number.

The phone near Yan Yi suddenly vibrated. Yan Yi felt it out and glanced at it. Guessing that it would be a harassment call from Lu Shangjin, he pressed the mute button and let it pass.

While driving, Tan Meng asked, “Why don’t you answer it?”

Yan Yi was sitting in the passenger seat, his elbow on the edge of the window as he held a box of yogurt to eat:

“He doesn’t deserve it.”

Tan Meng slapped the steering wheel as he laughed gloatingly. “You’re right, alphas can’t get used to it. Too easily flattered.”

The car slowly came to a stop outside the airport. Tan Meng put on his sunglasses before getting out of the car and sending a voice message. “Landed yet? The two most handsome omegas of Chang Hui Airport are waiting for you.”

The warm air in the car was too strong, so Yan Yi took a breath and said, “It’s not very cold today. Your friend is lucky, it was below zero yesterday.”

An omega came out of the airport exit, dressed in black leather and wrapped in a tea-colored scarf. He hurriedly dragged a suitcase full of check-in strips and ran over, hugging Tan Meng excitedly.

The omega took off his fleece cap and sunglasses, revealing a white and innocent face with dark eyes. He shook hands with Yan Yi. “My name is Cang Xiaoer, hamster omega, milk tea hamster.”

Yan Yi stiffened for a few seconds, and then replied, a little at a loss for words. “Yan Yi, lop-eared rabbit omega, type is teacup rabbit.”

After reacting, he covered his eyes with embarrassment, why did he have to introduce his breed?

Cang Xiaoer wrapped his arm around Tan Meng and laughed his head off. “Going to play?”

The omegas hogged a pool table. Yan Yi leaned over and pressed the table top, his index finger lightly resting on the club.

The ball went into the hole. Tan Meng sat sideways on the table and rubbed the shell powder on the club head, “Master Meng will show you a dead corner ball.”

Hamster.

Cang Xiaoer gently touched Yan Yi with his elbow. He didn’t know if it was an illusion, but he kept having this feeling like he was hated.

After taking a bath in the hot spring of the club’s spa, the three of them went to the bar.

Cang Xiaoer ordered an iced cocktail at the bar and asked Yan Yi what he wanted to drink. Yan Yi looked at it and just ordered a glass of room temperature juice.

Tan Meng sat on an armchair with a notebook and coded words, eating snacks while catching up on tonight’s updates.

Only Yan Yi and Cang Xiaoer were left chatting on the high stools in front of the bar. The two were not introverts and had already become familiar with each other after playing for a day.

Their conversation quickly turned to mention the PBB serial number on Cang Xiaoer’s body. In order to escape the surveillance of PBB, he had a genius idea to find a matching low-grade gland replacement. But at the exact moment, he was captured by an alpha to have a gland replacement for his own lover. At that time, he was given a dormant needle, but his grade hadn’t been seen.

“At first, it was almost done, but they suddenly refused to change. They wanted to find a backer but couldn’t find one, so I had to flee abroad. It was a pity to be dressed in white.”

Yan Yi’s fingers stiffened slightly. “…… For glands?”

“Mm, the alpha looking for me is the president of the Flying Eagle group. Ai, have you heard of it?

“……” Yan Yi clenched the glass tightly. The clean glass reflected his helpless wry smile. Suddenly, he felt relieved. He released the glass and said with a snort:

“He told me that the replacement was a gland donated by someone else in the freezer, and said he had asked a friend to look for it for a long time.”

Cang Xiaoer choked on his cocktail. Lying on the surface of the bar, he coughed hard.

“Lu Shangjin is that kind of person.” Yan Yi scratched his hair, lazily lying on the bar. “What he wants to do, he does it. He can do whatever he wants. He should go and spend a few years in jail ……”

How did this alpha, whom he once liked so much he had gone crazy for him, turn out this bad?

“Senior…” Cang Xiaoer came over to take his shivering shoulders. At a loss for what to do, he soothed him with the scent of cream.

Suddenly, he shouted as if he was frightened. Cang Xiaoer turned around with his little tail covered and stared at the two alphas standing behind them.

One of the alphas was holding a handful of tea-colored hair pulled from his little tail in his hand. He raised his chin playfully and frivolously. “Wanna play with some of us gege?”

The other alpha went to hold Yan Yi’s shoulder. They had been observing the two omegas for a long time, and immediately went into a rut when they met the fragrant and soft omegas bodies.

“Please show some respect.” Yan Yi subconsciously protected his lower abdomen and plucked away the hands on his body. Even without the A3 glands, the years of combat training would be enough to deal with a few hooligans.

The strong pheromones of the alphas in rut made Yan Yi very uncomfortable. Wanting to avoid it, he pulled Cang Xiaoer up and walked away.

The glass door of the bar was suddenly pushed open, and the heavy oppressive scent of an M2 alpha swept over with every step into the bar.

Lu Shangjin stepped in with the cold breeze outside the door and walked in front of Yan Yi without looking elsewhere. As he approached, the surrounding alphas backed up to make way.

He took the juice out of Yan Yi’s hand and pushed it to the side. Holding the edge of the bar counter, he lowered his head close to Yan Yi.

Yan Yi was stunned. When he got closer, he could see that there was a layer of pink over the alpha’s cheeks from drunkenness.

Lu Shangjin grabbed Yan Yi’s hand and pressed it to his heart. He seemed awake, but his eyes were misty and cloudy.

“Wife, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
