Chapter 39

Chapter 39: His Hard Work Paid Off

With the celebration ended, the gymnasium was cleared and both Zhang Li Xue and Bai Qi finally found their chance to practice their basketball again.

During this time, Zhang Li Xue continued to look for their next team member. However, the person she found either uninterested in the game or had no skills at all.

This situation strengthen her resolve to study hard so that she could quickly enter school.

Zhang Li Xue was determined to find her teammate once she had entered school.

After training Bai Qi for a while, Zhang Li Xue could not help but think that he was indeed her best student. Initially, his skills were not that good, but he was a fast learner.

These days, Zhang Li Xue noticed that Bai Qi was quite diligent in his practice. Because of that, his skills had grown better and he was no longer breathless after running around for a while.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

The little girl stood at the side as she watched Bai Qi dribble the ball around. After a while, she walked over to Bai Qi and snatched the ball from him easily.

.....

Bai Qi could only watch the ball disappear from his grasp helplessly. He has been practicing for a while, but he still could not go against this little fairy.

The little boy stared at his hand, wondering why was he too weak.

“Brother Bai Qi.”

“Huh?”

Zhang Li Xue walked over to Bai Qi and stood next to him. She tilted her head to look at Bai Qi’s face for a long time.

Bai Qi’s face turned red upon noticing that his little fairy was standing too close. He wanted to take a step back, but the girl held his arms, stopping him from escaping.

“Brother Bai Qi, it seemed that you have grown a little taller?”

His eyes flickered. His lips curled into a wide smile. “Really?” Bai Qi could not hide his joy upon hearing the girl’s words.

Last time, the girl had called him short. He was determined to grow a little taller and forced himself to drink more milk. Initially, he found that the taste was unbearable. However, after drinking milk almost every day, Bai Qi was beginning to get used to the taste.

It felt that all his hard work had paid off. He finally grows taller!

“Un.” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “You have to continue to drink more milk so that you can grow more. Most of the basketball players are tall.”

Bai Qi nodded. After a few seconds, his expression changed again. “Li Xue, do you like tall guys?”

The little girl thought about her father and the uncles who often accompanied her father to play basketball. Every one of them was tall. Each time they were playing basketball, they could shoot the ball into the hoop easily.

“Un. I like tall guys.”

Bai Qi was determined to drink more milk and exercise so that he would become taller. Then, the little girl would continue to stay by his side and play with him, right?

The little boy watched as his friend dribbled the ball around. Gradually, the smile on his face faded.

Bai Qi realized that he won’t be able to play with the little girl for too long. When the time comes, he will graduate from kindergarten and start going to school.

Then, he would not be able to see the little fairy again. He will have to wait for a year before Zhang Li Xue starts going to school.

When the time comes, would she still remember him?

Bai Qi closed his eyes.

It seemed that the only way the little girl would remember him was to practice more. Perhaps, when they see each other again, the little fairy would praise his height and skill. Would she be surprised then?

As the thought came to his mind, Bai Qi could not stop smiling.

Of course, he was unaware that the little girl had a plan on her own. When the time comes, Bai Qi would be surprised to find Zhang Li Xue being his classmate.

...

After resting at home for months, Zhang Yu Han’s injury had completely healed. Even so, he did not return to the company and continued to work from home to look after his wife.

The baby in his wife’s stomach continued to grow. However, his wife was too skinny due to her pregnancy reaction. They had thought that her condition had improved after entering the second trimester. However, the morning sickness then returned once Li Qin Yao entered the third trimester.

Zhang Yu Han would feel distressed each time he looked at his wife. He hoped that he could be the one who had undergone the pregnancy reaction in her stead.

Just like her father, Zhang Li Xue could not stop worrying about her mother as well.

The little girl saw how her mother would throw up after a meal and ran over to her father. “Daddy, is my Mommy alright?”

Zhang Yu Han patted his daughter on her head. “Un. Your mother would feel better afterward. We just need to stay by her side and give her our support. Don’t make things difficult for her, you know?”

“Un. I know.” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “But why is my Mommy throwing up again?” She glanced at the dishes on the table and tilted her head to another side. “Did Mommy think that the food that Grandma cooked did not taste good? No way. Mommy cannot be picky with food.”

Zhang Yu Han chuckled upon hearing his daughter’s words. “Mommy is not being picky with food. It’s just that, your Mommy was feeling a little uncomfortable now that she was carrying your sibling in her tummy.”

The little girl continued to watch her mother from afar with a slight frown.

“Perhaps, you should talk to your little sibling in your Mommy’s stomach,” Zhang Yu Han suggested. “You’re the eldest sister. Maybe if you tell your younger sibling not to make things difficult for your mother, the baby will listen to you.”

Her eyes lit up. Zhang Li Xue waited for her mother to come out of the bathroom before she ran over and start giving her little sibling a long lecture.

Surprisingly, the baby in her mother’s stomach stopped causing too much trouble after Zhang Li Xue had given the baby a long speech almost every day.
