Chapter 86

86 His Selfishness

Zhang Li Xue happily closed the door for the young doctor before she walked over to the driver’s side. She slid behind the wheels and turned, only to find that Bai Qi was looking at her.

A strange feeling arose and she did not know what she should do about it. “Doctor Bai, why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?”

“No.” Bai Qi coughed and retracted his gaze. “I was just checking your complexion. Miss Zhang, have you been well after the surgery?”

“Oh!” Zhang Li Xue smiled. “I think it has healed quite well.” She raised the hem of her shirt a little bit to show him the wound. The stitches scar could be seen on her skin.

Seeing that this girl had brazenly lifted her shirt to see surprised him. Bai Qi stared at her white waist without blinking. “You...”

Zhang Li Xue raised her head and quickly lowered her shirt again. “Doctor Bai, do you think that my wound is healing well?”

Bai Qi began to wonder if Zhang Li Xue only viewed him as a doctor and nothing else.

The thought gave him a blow.

“It looks well.” Bai Qi lowered his head to suppress his disappointment.

.....

“I guess all the recuperating and watching my diets works.” Zhang Li Xue heaved a deep sigh. “You don’t know how much I have suffered these days. My family kept feeding me nutritious soup so that I could heal faster. I think, if I see another bowl of soup, I might as well throw up.”

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

“Those soups should be good for you. In the future, the scar wouldn’t be too visible.”

Zhang Li Xue thought that the doctor’s words made sense. Thinking that she will have an ugly scar on her waist area made her shiver. It would be better to drink the soup that her mother had prepared for her.

“Doctor Bai, do you have a place you wanted to go to?” Zhang Li Xue asked. “I’ll let you pick the place to eat.”

Bai Qi paused. “I’m not sure. I haven’t thought about it.”

When Zhang Li Xue said she was going to treat him to a meal, Bai Qi had thought that the girl had chosen a place for them to eat. All he had to do was to show up.

“Miss Zhang, I’m not very familiar with this city. As you know, I only moved over a few months ago. Why don’t you help me to decide?”

Zhang Li Xue pondered over his words. “Then, do you have any allergies or requirements?”

“No. I’m not picky with food.”

“Then, I think I know a place we can go to.” She held the steering wheel and exited the parking spot. “Doctor Bai, you really did not mind if I choose a place, right?”

“I don’t.” Bai Qi smiled. “Miss Zhang, you are quite considerate. Not many would ask for allergies and preferences.”

Zhang Li Xue laughed. “Mmm... A while ago, I had to work at a few F&B establishments. You can say that I was trained to ask these things. Food allergies can be quite troublesome.”

Her family owned a large hotel chain and a few F&B establishments. Because of this, she was trained to always be cautious.

As the vehicle entered the main road, Bai Qi turned to look out the window. A faint smile curled on his lips, knowing that his little fairy was right beside him.

The girl was keeping her eyes on the road while humming to a tune happily.

On this day, he was off work and was supposed to accompany his little sister at home.

Bai Qi knew that his little sister would be disappointed together. However, he still wanted to go out and spend some time with Zhang Li Xue.

For this one day, he wanted to be selfish and be with the person he liked.

He hoped that Xi Xi could understand his selfishness.

His little fairy might no longer remember him, but he would never forget the person who had given him the encouragement. When things get tough in S Country, it was his memory with this little fairy that kept him going on.

Bai Qi would always remember the promise to return and look for her again.

Years have passed and both of them had changed. But he still was not able to forget her.

As he thought of what has he gone through for the past few years, Bai Qi lowered his head to hide his expression.

“Doctor Bai.”

Her voice snapped him out of his trance.

When Bai Qi looked up again, his expression had already recovered. “Hmm?”

“You said you have only moved to Y City a few months ago. Did you get transferred from L City?” Zhang Li Xue asked. “The first time we met was at Mo Qing Huan and He Rong’s wedding in L City. Since you are a friend of He Rong, then, are you from L City?”

“No.” He kept his eyes on her, to watch her reaction. “In fact, when I was a small boy, I live in Y City with my parents.”

“So, you’re a native of Y City as well.”

Bai Qi was a little disappointed that she did not notice anything from his clue. “Uh-huh. Later, my father got some offers, and my family moved away to S Country.”

“So, it was like that.”

Bai Qi chuckled, knowing that this little fairy had forgotten all about her first teammate. “Mmm... Later, I moved back to this country and stayed in the northern to pursue my study in medicine. I met Doctor Qi Zheng during a rescue mission in the north. Doctor Qi Zheng and I worked together a few times. Later, he had offered me to come to Y City as his student.”

“Since Uncle Qi Zheng decided to take you as his student, then Doctor Bai, you should be a talented person as well.”

Bai Qi laughed. He did not know whether he was a talented person. But he knew that he was hardworking. He had faced a lot of things in the past and had worked very hard to reach his position now.

“Then, now that you have returned to Y City after a long time, what do you think of this place?” Zhang Li Xue asked.

“A lot of things have changed,” Bai Qi said. “But I think, this city had always remained beautiful.” His gaze fell on the woman beside him.

To him, this city was especially beautiful because she was here.
