Chapter 154

154 Sweets

After the parents-teacher meeting ended, Zhang Li Xue decided to join the Bai siblings for a meal. This time, they decided to visit a family restaurant that was not very far from the kindergarten area.

The three of them ate their meal while discussing Bai Xi XI’s study at the kindergarten.

Bai Xi Xi was the most excited that she got to spend more time with the two of her favorite people.

Unfortunately, the happy time did not last forever. Bai Xi Xi hoped that she could invite Zhang Li Xue to stay with her at the apartment for a while longer.

However, Bai Xi Xi remembered that Zhang Li Xue had taken a day off from work to come to her parents-teacher meeting. Thinking that the Pretty Sister would have something else to do, Bai Xi Xi decided not to say anything.

She was already thankful that Zhang Li Xue was willing to come to her kindergarten.

Zhang Li Xue sent the siblings back to their apartment. However, the moment they arrived, both Zhang Li Xue and Bai Qi found that Bai Xi Xi was already fallen asleep in the car.

A helpless sigh escaped her. Zhang Li Xue turned to Bai Qi and whispered, “What are you going to do now? Should we wake her up?”

“It’s fine. I can carry her.”

.....

Zhang Li Xue recalled that the siblings were living on the third floor. She began to worry if Bai Qi would be able to carry Bai Xi Xi.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

“Don’t worry,” Bai Qi spoke. “Xi Xi isn’t that heavy.”

Zhang Li Xue’s gaze shifted to Bai Qi’s arms. She seemed to recall his toned muscle during the last time they played basketball together.

It could be seen that Bai Qi was someone who would exercise a lot.

Now that she thought about it, Bai Qi had once mentioned that he had almost gone professional with basketball.

Zhang Li Xue quickly shifted her eyes away, realizing that her mind was starting to wander. She turned to Bai Qi again and saw that the man unfastened his seatbelt and was about to open the door.

“Bai Qi, wait for a second,” Zhang Li Xue said quickly.

His movement halted. Bai Qi turned to Zhang Li Xue with a puzzled look on his face. “Is there something else?”

“I have something to give you.” Zhang Li Xue rummaged in her purse and took out a piece of candy.

Bai Qi eyed the wrapped candy in Zhang Li Xue’s hand. Then, he turned to Zhang Li Xue again with a hit of uncertainty. “For me?”

“Uh-huh.” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “I saw that the restaurant was selling some candies and thought to get one for you.”

He reached to take the candy from her and inspected it for a while. Then, Bai Qi let out a chuckle. “Why did you suddenly think of giving me a candy?”

A faint smile curled on her lips. “You don’t seem like you’re in a good mood,” Zhang Li Xue said. “I just thought that eating sweets would be able to cheer you up.”

Whenever she was not feeling too good, her mother would often give her a piece of candy. Zhang Li Xue knew that eating sweets would help to improve one’s mood.

Last time, she had told him that he could talk to her if he needed someone to share his problem with. Since Bai Qi did not want to say anything, Zhang Li Xue guessed that it should be a matter that he could not talk to anyone.

If she could not listen to his problem, Zhang Li Xue thought that she could at least do something to cheer him up.

Bai Qi was a little stunned upon hearing her words.

Although he had decided not to think too much about what Director Xiao was going to do to him, his mind would still wonder about this matter.

Bai Qi was mostly worried that his little sister would have to suffer if he lose this job.

He was still thinking of this matter while they were having their meals. He had tried his best to act casual. Bai Qi did not think that Zhang Li Xue would still notice that his mood was a little off.

Bai Qi felt something warm coating his heart. That feeling slowly spread through his body, making him feel fuzzy.

His little fairy was always nice to him.

Each time that they interacted, Zhang Li Xue always gave him more reason to like her.

He figured that the more he spend his time with her, the more that his feeling toward her would deepen. However, each time that he thought of his current situation, Bai Qi would think that he was not worthy to be with her.

Bai Qi wanted to improve himself and be someone worthy to stand by his little fairy.

However, something had happened at the hospital and he did not know just how he could make it right. He had thought that writing a letter to the association would help, but he did not expect that Director Xiao would have someone in the association. That person had blocked his letter even before it reached the higher-ups.

Bai Qi continued to stare at the candy. Even before he put the candy in his mouth, he could already feel its sweetness.

“Thank you.” Bai Qi waved the candy in front of her. He stared at the strawberry-flavored candy again and hesitated. Each time Bai Qi recalled his conversation with Director Xiao earlier that day, he would feel very helpless.

He did not know if he could tell his little fairy about what he has gone through at the hospital.

After a brief silence, Bai Qi then spoke, “Have you ever faced a problem that you did not know how to resolve?”

Zhang Li Xue quickly figured that Bai Qi might be talking about the matters that has been putting him in a bad mood for a while.

“Of course.” Zhang Li Xue admitted. “But I’m a simple person. Each time that I ran into a problem that I could not resolve, I would talk to anyone I know. My mom, or my friends... They would help me to think of a solution or give me an idea that would lead me to the right solution.”

Bai Qi wanted to talk to someone, but he still did not know who he could talk to about his problem.

“Are you in trouble?”

Bai Qi lowered his head. “Mmm... It’s something about work.”

“Then, you can talk to Uncle Qi Zheng. Isn’t he your mentor?” Zhang Li Xue said. “Otherwise, you can always call me if you need to talk,” Zhang Li Xue said. “I will always listen.”

A faint smile curled on his lips. “Un. I know. Thank you.”

He still did not know what he should do next. But just being around this little fairy already made him feel a little better.
