169 His Little Fairy Came to Visit

After having dinner with her colleagues, Zhang Li Xue decided to give her colleague a ride back home as the place was not too far away.

The car pulled over at a residential area. Zhang Li Xue watched as her colleague alighted from her car and the two bid their goodbyes.

Zhang Li Xue was about to turn the car into the main road when she noticed the stall at the side of the road. An old man was seen working alone.

After thinking for a while, Zhang Li Xue decided to pull over and bought a few steamed buns. They were still very hot and fluffy.

Seeing that she had bought quite a lot, the old man had given her an extra portion.

Zhang Li Xue stared at the takeaway box at the side and smiled. After giving it a thought, she decided to turn around and drive away.

Fortunately, there was not a lot of car on the road. In less than ten minutes, Zhang Li Xue pulled over into the parking spot in front of the hospital.

She grabbed the takeaway bag at the side and walked over into the hospital building.

Perhaps, it was because she had often visited her Uncle Qi Zheng at the hospital. The moment the guard on duty saw her face, he let her go into the building.

Her grip on the bag tightened. Zhang Li Xue pressed the elevator’s button and headed up to Bai Qi’s department.

She did not know whether Bai Qi would be on duty tonight. However, Zhang Li Xue decided to visit the hospital and try her luck.

If the person she wanted to meet was not around, she could always give the food to the nurses and let them share.

Zhang Li Xue was satisfied with the idea that she came up with.

The elevator door slid open.

Just as she stepped out, her eyes quickly caught the sight of Bai Qi walking over to the nurse’s station.

She raised her hand and was about to call him when he saw the serious look on his face.

Her movement halted and Zhang Li Xue decided to watch him for a while.

Bai Qi was speaking with the nurses in a low and composed voice. She could not understand much about what he was saying, but Zhang Li Xue was sure that it should be about his patients.

The corner of her lips turned up into a soft smile.

Zhang Li Xue could not help but think that Bai Qi looked very good-looking when he was working.

Her heart skipped a beat as that thought came to her mind.

This time, Zhang Li Xue did not avert her gaze away. She continued to watch that man for a while until he turned around and walk away with one of the nurses. The two of them were still discussing their work.

A faint sigh escaped her.

Bai Qi seemed too busy with work that he did not seem to notice her presence.

Although she was slightly disappointed, Zhang Li Xue knew that she could not complain about it. After all, she did not tell Bai Qi that she would be showing up at the hospital.

Zhang Li Xue laughed. “No. I’m not here to see my uncle.” She lifted the bag of food she brought earlier. “I came over to deliver some food. I accidentally bought quite a lot. Nurse Tian, you have worked hard. You should share them with everyone else.”

Nurse Tian’s eyes lit up as the smell of good food wafted to her nose. She took the bag of food and looked at Zhang Li Xue again in shock. “These are for us?”

“Mmm...” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “They are only some steamed bun. I hope that you don’t mind it.”

“Of course,’ not.” Nurse Tian smiled. “We should be thankful to get some food. Miss Zhang, thank you.” She lowered her head to look at the steamed buns in the paper bag. Then, she passed it to another nurse and instructed her to share it with everyone on duty.

Zhang Li Xue peeked in the direction where Bai Qi went to. “Nurse Tian, is Doctor Bai on duty tonight?”

“Uh-huh.” Her movement halted. “Miss Zhang, are you looking for Doctor Bai?”

Bai Qi was Qi Zheng’s student. Therefore, Nurse Tian did not think that it was strange for Zhang Li Xue to look after that young doctor.

“No.” Zhang Li Xue quickly shook her head.

“I can go and call him over.”

Zhang Li Xue still remembered that Bai Qi was on duty. She did not want to disturb his work. Just a glance at him was enough. “It’s fine. I should go back now. Nurse Tian, enjoy the food.”

Nurse Tian thanked Zhang Li Xue again. Once Zhang Li Xue disappeared from her sight, Nurse Tian went over to take one of the steamed buns.

She took a bite and sighed. The steamed bun was still hot. It was very comfortable to eat them.

After a while, Bai Qi appeared at the nurse’s station. Nurse Tian carried the bag over and offered it to the young doctor. “Doctor Bai, have one steamed bun. They are still hot. Just now, Miss Zhang send them over and let everyone share the food.”

Bai Qi was about to reach for the food when he heard Nurse Tian speak a familiar name. His hand stopped mid-air. “Miss Zhang? Which Miss Zhang?”

“It’s Doctor Qi’s niece. That Miss Zhang.”

His eyes widened in surprise. Bai Qi turned around hoping that he could see the girl somewhere near him.

“Doctor Bai, you’re a few minutes too late,” Nurse Tian said. “Miss Zhang left a while ago.”

His little fairy came to visit?

“How long ago?”

Nurse Tian was surprised to see an agitated Bai Qi. “Around five minutes?” Her eyes lit up as a thought came to her mind. “Doctor Bai, if you go after her, perhaps you would still be able to catch up.”

Bai Qi placed the steamed bun on the counter urgently. “Nurse Tian. I’m going to be away for a few minutes.” Turning around, he ran over to the elevator, hoping that he could catch up with the girl.
