232 She’s a Little Shy

After leaving the house, Zhang Li Xue headed to the hospital to pick up Bai Qi. Since he would not be working the night shift, Bai Qi had arranged to meet with He Rong to discuss some business.

Zhang Li Xue did not have to wait for a long time before Bai Qi appeared.

He slid into the car and leaned over to kiss his girlfriend on the lips. “Did you wait for too long?”

Zhang Li Xue shook her head. “Not too long.” The smile on her face widened. She liked how the car would be filled with Bai Qi’s scent when he slid into the car.

“Did they suspect anything?” Bai Qi asked.

Earlier, Zhang Li Xue has been texting him while she was talking to Mo Qing Huan. Bai Qi knew that Zhang Li Xue had mentioned their relationship to her friend and wondered just how would she react.

“Of course, not. Huan Huan tried to make me tell her something, but I keep the secret well.” A mischievous smile curled on her lips as she tried to imagine her friend’s reaction in a while.

Bai Qi chuckled. He cupped her cheek and kissed her again. “Come on. We should go to the restaurant. Let’s give them a surprise.”

Zhang Li Xue fastened her seatbelt and drove over to the restaurant that Bai Qi had booked.

They arrived at the restaurant after ten minutes drive. Zhang Li Xue pulled over at the parking spot and turned to Bai Qi. “Alright. You should go in first. I will come over in a while.”

Bai Qi nodded. “Then, I will text you in a while.”

Zhang Li Xue watched Bai Qi alight and walked into the restaurant. She took a deep breath and pulled out her purse to adjust her makeup.

Her phone chimed just as she was putting in the last touch.

She tossed her lipstick into her purse and took out her phone. A smile curled on her lips, thinking that it should be Bai Qi who called her at this time.

However, the name on the phone screen was different.

Zhang Li Xue quickly picked up the phone and pressed it to her ear. “Hello? Aunt?”

“Li Xue, are you busy?” Zhang Yu Ying spoke as she heard her niece’s voice.

“It’s alright. Aunt, what’s up?.” Zhang Li Xue glanced at the restaurant at the thought of meeting her friends later.

“Then, I’ll be straight to the point,” Zhang Yu Ying said. “Do you know when will Bai Qi be free?”

“Bai Qi?” Zhang Li Xue was surprised to hear his name on her aunt’s lips.

Zhang Li Xue pursed her lips for a long time. She wondered if her Uncle Qi Zheng had told her aunt about her relationship. But then, she only asked him not to tell her father. She did not say that he could not tell anyone else.

“Why do you want to have a meal with him?”

“I have something to say to him,” Zhang Yu Ying said. “It’s about what happened in S Country. Li Xue, you can also come to have dinner together.”

“Aunt, if you’re looking for Bai Qi, why did you look through me?”

“Isn’t it because the two of you are friends?” Zhang Yu Ying decided to pretend. “I didn’t have his number. Of course, I will have to ask you.”

As she was still thinking about her aunt’s invitation to her place, the phone in her hand rang again. Seeing that it was a message from Bai Qi, Zhang Li Xue grabbed her belonging and headed out.

When she walked to the restaurant, Zhang Li Xue met Bai Qi who seemed as if he was rushing out.

“Why are you here?” Zhang Li Xue asked. “Why are you in a rush? Did something happen?”

Bai Qi shook his head. He gave his girlfriend a lookover and finally heaved a breath of relief upon finding that she was alright.

“I was worried about you,” Bai Qi said. He stretched his hand and intertwined their hands together. “It’s getting dark outside. Who knows what you might encounter when you are alone.”

Seeing the worry in his eyes made her feel sweet. Zhang Li Xue bumped her forehead on his shoulder, wanting to hide her face.

She quickly recovered and asked, “What did you say to them? Did they suspect anything?”

“I told them that my girlfriend is coming over and I wanted to introduce you to them,” Bai Qi said. “They were surprised and curious to know about you.”

Zhang Li Xue laughed. “Then, come on. Let’s go meet them.”

Bai Qi nodded. He held her hand tightly as he led her to the private room where He Rong and Mo Qing Huan were waiting for them.

Once they arrived, Bai Qi knocked on the door and pushed the door open.

He entered the room and noticed that someone was not coming with him. Bai Qi turned to his girlfriend again and raised a brow, wondering just what this little fairy planned to do.

“Bai Qi?” He Rong called. Seeing that his friend continued to stand at the door and did not come in quickly made him puzzled. “What’s going on? Didn’t you say that your girlfriend is going to join us?”

Bai Qi let coughed. He looked at the person who continued to hide behind the door and spoke, “Un... I think she’s a little shy.”

“What’s there to be shy about?” He Rong chuckled. “Bai Qi’s girlfriend, you don’t have to be shy around us. There’s no one else here other than me and my wife.”

Zhang Li Xue tried to suppress her laugh. After exchanging a glance with Bai Qi, she then peeked into the room. Seeing the change in He Rong and Mo Qing Huan’s expressions gave her satisfaction.

“Wait!” Mo Qing Huan stood up. “Li Xue?”

Zhang Li Xue came out of her hiding place. As she held hands with Bai Qi, she finally walked into the room and met her friends. “Are you surprised?”
