285 Winning Her Father’s Heart

The alarm clock on the bedside table rang. Zhang Li Xue swiftly turned to turn off the alarm. Then, she glanced at the little girl sleeping beside her. A breath of relief escaped her upon finding that the little girl was still sleeping soundly.

Zhang Li Xue pulled the blanket to cover her shoulder. Then, she patted the girl softly and watched her sleeping face.

After a while, Zhang Li Xue rolled off the bed slowly and stretched up. She went into the bathroom to wash up a little bit before heading downstairs.

A shy smile curled on her lips when she saw that Bai Qi was having breakfast with her parents. “Good morning.”

Li Qin Yao had a smile on her face as she looked at her daughter. “Li Xue, you woke up early.”

Zhang Li Xue glanced at Bai Qi and smiled shyly.

Last night, Bai Qi had told her that he was going to leave for the hospital in the morning. She wanted to see him off and decided to set an alarm.

Li Qin Yao chuckled as she saw the shy look on her daughter’s face. “Xi Xi is still asleep?”

“Mmm...” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “Let her sleep a while longer. I already asked the auntie to keep an eye on her. This way she wouldn’t be surprised when she woke up later.” She pulled out a chair and sat beside Bai Qi.

Zhang Yu Han was still listening to his daughter when he suddenly noticed that her daughter was sitting side by side with Bai Qi.

An uncomfortable feeling arose in his heart as he saw them sitting side by side. It felt as if there was something stuck in his throat. However, he chose not to say anything.

Zhang Li Xue poured herself a cup of hot soybean milk. Just as she put her hand down, a certain someone had already grabbed her hand under the table and pinched it softly.

Her cheek turned a little hot and her heart was beating fast. The two of them were sneaking around and the thrill was a little exciting.

Zhang Li Xue could not help but glance at her parents and hope that they would not find anything. Although she was used to watching her parents display their affection, it was a little strange to imagine doing the same with Bai Qi.

Moreover, her father was still trying to accept Bai Qi. Zhang Li Xue thought that it would be better to act slowly.

“Li Xue, you are not eating?” Zhang Yu Han asked as he watched her staring at the cup of milk in front of her.

“Ah?” Zhang Li Xue snapped out of her trance. Then, she felt Bai Qi squeezing her hand again before he finally let go. She pulled her hand quickly and grabbed the fried dough in front of her. “I’m eating.”

Zhang Yu Han laughed. “You silly girl. Why are you in a daze? Are you still sleeping?”

It was rare to see her daughter woke up early. Thus, Zhang Yu Han thought that his daughter was being absentminded because she still hasn’t woken up properly.

Zhang Li Xue lowered her head and started to nibble on her food. After a while, she raised her head again and shot a look at Bai QI. However, that man only looked back at her with an innocent look on his face.

After having their breakfast, Zhang Yu Han went back to his study to answer a phone call.

Zhang Li Xue glanced at Bai Qi before turning to her mother again. “Then, Mommy, I’ll go and walk Bai Qi out.”

“Mmm... go ahead.” Li Qin Yao nodded. A few seconds later, she looked up again. “Ah! Bai Qi, wait a minute. There’s something I wanted to give you.”

Bai Qi exchanged a look with his girlfriend before turning around.

“Your uncle wanted to give you this,” Li Qin Yao spoke. She walked over to Bai Qi with a white envelope in her hand.

Bai Qi took the envelope and stared at it, “This is...”

“It will be the company’s anniversary soon,” Li Qin Yao said. “This is the invitation card. I hope that you can make it and attend.”

Zhang Li Xue looked at her mother in surprise.

She had already planned to let Bai Qi accompany her as her plus one. Surprisingly, her mother had prepared an invitation card for Bai Qi as well.

“Thank you.” Bai Qi flashed a smile as he slid the invitation card into his pocket. “I will try to attend.”

Li Qin Yao knew that Bai Qi was busy with his work and did not press on this matter.

After saying a few words, Bai Qi turned around again and walked out of the house. Seeing that there was no one else around, Bai Qi reached to hold his girlfriend’s hand.

“Text me when you are about to head home,” Zhang Li Xue said. “I’ll send Xi Xi back before it’s time for you to come back.”

Bai Qi leaned over to peck on the girl’s nose. “Alright. I don’t have the night shift duty today. Do you want to have dinner together?”

Her eyes lit up. “Alright. Then, I’ll make something before you go back. Doctor Bai, what do you want to eat?”

“You can make anything you like,” Bai Qi said. “I’m not picky with food.”

Just the thought that there would be someone waiting for him when he returned to the apartment after work made his heart warmer.

“You should go now. Otherwise, you’re going to be late,” Zhang Li Xue patted her on the shoulder. She walked him over to his car and watched as he slid into the driver’s seat.

Before he closed the door, Bai Qi leaned over and caught her lips in a kiss.

The moment he pulled away, Zhang Li Xue looked around in alarm. When she did not see anyone, Zhang Li Xue finally heaved a breath of relief.

Bai Qi laughed when he saw the look on her face.

Zhang Li Xue hit his arm playfully. “You are still laughing. If my father saw us, he won’t let you come over and visit again.”

Bai Qi heaved a sigh.

It seemed that winning her father’s heart would be much more difficult than winning his little fairy’s heart.
