325 Ask Your Permission

Bai Qi has been busy since early morning.

He spent a few hours in the operation theatre room and barely had time to have his lunch. Fortunately, the kind Nurse Tian helped him to get some food from the cafeteria.

In the middle of his meal, his mentor, Doctor Qi Zheng called him to the operation theatre to assist him with emergency surgery.

When he came out of the room, Bai Qi headed to his mentor’s office and the two of them discussed the surgery for almost an hour.

A waiter dressed in a Qipao greeted him at the entrance. Once he gave his name, Bai Qi was led to a private room. Actually, it was had to book a private room at this restaurant.

Bai Qi heard that one had to call the restaurant several months earlier. However, with that man’s influence, they managed to book a place.

When Bai Qi arrived, the person he was supposed to be meeting had not arrived. Bai Qi took the time to text his girlfriend and was relieved to hear that Zhang Li Xue was already at home.

As he put down his phone, Bai Qi recalled his conversation with Zhang Li Xue that morning.

She told him that she was going to accompany her father to H City for work. H City was recently developed and had attracted a lot of visitors for its beautiful beach.

Zhang Worldwide Group had recently purchased land and planned to build a hotel in H City.

His girlfriend planned to stay with the family’s business and had to learn a lot before she could take on responsibility.

The thought that he would not be able to see her for almost a week made his heart ache. However, being away would also be good for them. While his girlfriend was away, Bai Qi planned to prepare a surprise for her.

The corner of his lips tilted up as he thought of what he was going to do.

Bai Qi hoped that his meeting with that man would go smoothly.

The knock on the door snapped him out of his trance.

Before long, the waiter pulled the door open and stepped aside to let the other person in.

The moment Bai Qi saw that man, his heart started to pound furiously. The air conditioner was turned on, but Bai Qi suddenly felt hot all over. His body felt sticky and uncomfortable.

He stood up quickly and flashed a smile. “Uncle.”

Zhang Yu Han took off his coat and hung it on the hanger. He walked over to the table and spoke. “You’re here early.” His eyes were looking at Bai Qi sharply.

Bai Qi merely smiled. He was meeting his girlfriend’s father. Of course, he has to show up early and make a good impression.

Zhang Yu Han pulled the chair and took a seat.

The waiter walked over and handed them a menu.

Bai Qi looked at the menu price and thought this restaurant was too expensive. With his salary as a doctor, perhaps he could never afford to eat at this place. Fortunately, he now has another source of income. He should be able to afford a meal for two... right?

As the waiter walked away with their order, Bai Qi could not help but feel anxious again.

The air around him turned heavy. Bai Qi thought that it was really difficult to breathe in the same room as Zhang Yu Han.

His hands under the table tightened into fists. Bai Qi told himself again and again that he should not be anxious.

Noticing that the elder man was reaching for the teapot, Bai Qi quickly acted. “Uncle. Let me.”

Zhang Yu Han stared at the young man. Then, he leaned back on his seat as he watched Bai Qi pour a cup of tea for them both.

He took a sip from the cup to moisten his throat and smiled. He could already sense that Bai Qi was anxious.

The first time he was introduced by his daughter, Bai Qi was not this anxious.

Zhang Yu Han could not help but let out a chuckle. He leaned on his seat again and spoke, “Alright. Bai Qi, let’s not waste time. What is your intention when you called to meet me?”

A few days ago, Zhang Yu Han received a call from Bai Qi and the young man told him that there was an important matter he needed to speak with.

Zhang Yu Han knew that this matter should be about his daughter.

When Bai Qi called him, Zhang Yu Han could already guess the reason for this meeting. Initially, he wanted to reject this meeting. But in the end, Zhang Yu Han decided to meet Bai Qi.

He loved his daughter so much that he would come to meet Bai Qi privately today.

However, he did not mention this meeting to his wife. Zhang Yu Han wanted to meet Bai Qi alone and listened to what he had to say. He did not want his wife to influence his decision.

Knowing himself, once his wife had spoken, Zhang Yu Han would definitely listen to her.

Bai Qi sat up straight. He took a deep breath and finally spoke. “Uncle. I would like to ask your permission to marry Zhang Li Xue.”
