While no one else was watching, Father Fang took Zhang Yi Hai to his study.

Following Father Fang’s instruction, Zhang Yi Hai took a seat on the sofa as he looked at the elder man. Usually, Father Fang was the most enthusiastic whenever he came to visit. Noticing that the man has been quiet from the very beginning, Zhang Yi Hai could tell that Father Fang did not like it very much that he was dating his daughter.

Father Fang walked over to the side table and hesitated. In the beginning, he wanted to let Zhang Yi Hai accompany him for a drink. However, he was quick to remember that this young man did not drink alcohol.

“Drink your tea first.”

“Yes.” Zhang Yi Hai took the up obediently and started to take a small sip of the tea. Father Fang’s tea-making skills were quite good and the tea was fresh and lingering.

“You...” Father Fang coughed. “Just what is it that you are planning to do with my daughter?”

Zhang Yi Hai still had a calm look on his face. “Uncle, if you are asking if I am being serious with Su Jin, then, I can assure you that I am serious with her. Dating her is not something that I do on impulse. I have considered this matter for a long time before taking the initiative to pursue her. I really liked her. When I pursue her, of course, my goal is to marry her.”

Father Fang narrowed his eyes at Zhang Yi Hai’s confession. “You are still a few years younger than my daughter.”

“Uncle, do you dislike me because of my age?”

“Do you think that your relationship with my daughter would last for a long time?” Father Fang spoke. “I did not dislike your age. But there should be a gap between the two of you.”

Zhang Yi Hai stayed in silence, wanting to let Father Fang vent his frustration at him first.

“Zhang Yi Hai, you have only completed your study. The world is so vast. Who knew if you are going to meet someone else, younger than you? By then, would you leave my daughter?”

Father Fang had often heard stories about how men around him would leave their wives or had a younger mistresses. Hearing them always made him upset.

Father Fang did not want his daughter to experience the same thing. Especially when he saw just how much his daughter was infatuated with Zhang Yi Hai.

“And don’t talk about marriage,” Father Fang continued. “I know that a young man like you will only focus on his career at this age. Are you going to make my daughter wait for years?”

Then, what if Zhang Yi Hai had a change of mind afterward? What will happen to his daughter?

Seeing that Father Fang had stopped talking, Zhang Yi Hai inhaled a deep breath and explained, “I admit that there should be a gap between us. But I have never seen them as a problem. Uncle, Su Jin is the same age as my sister. It was not that hard to get along with her.”

Father Fang snorted at his reply.

“I have also thought about our age differences before,” Zhang Yi Hai said. “I know that many of her friends were mostly married with kids. If she was to wait for me for a few years more, people were going to start talking about her. This was why I have considered getting married to your daughter after I graduated.”

His eyes went wide. Father Fang pointed his finger at Zhang Yi Hai, wanting to say something, but unable to. He only wanted to discuss their relationship. Why does it feel as if this young man was coming to his house to ask his daughter’s hand for marriage?

The corner of his lips started to twitch. Father Fang knew Zhang Yu Han and his friends. Of course, he would believe that those guys would not hesitate to help him beat Zhang Yi Hai if the young man bully his daughter.

Zhang Yi Hai might be their family. However, his family would disdain an act such as this.

“Otherwise, we can also sign an agreement,” Zhang Yi Hai said. “If I ever did something to betray Su Jin, then, I am willing to give away my shares at the hotel. I also started a company with a few friends. Then, this company would also be given to Su Jin.”

Father Fang could not hide his surprise. He observed the young man’s expression and saw that Zhang Yi Hai did not seem reluctant to part with his money.

“I also believe in what my parents had taught me. That no matter how long you are in a relationship, you have to work hard to maintain this relationship,” Zhang Yi Hai continued. “Uncle, I will promise you that I will work hard for Su Jin, respect her and never let her feel aggrieved.
