Chapter 3 Character Creation

[Welcome to Magnolia, New Player]

As Lei Zhen glanced at the system prompt, he found himself in some sort of dimension.

The dimension was filled with all four corners of walls that are colored in blues, and the most surprising thing is that Lei Zhen could see his reflection.

His brown eyes and short black hair were reflected very clearly.

'So realistic…' Lei Zhen thought.

He began to look around his surroundings in amazement. Everything was so vivid and real, almost like he was still on Earth and not some video game.





"I can already see why everyone would rather live in this gaming world than the boring Earth." Lei Zhen muttered.

Just when Lei Zhen tried to take his first step to explore, a transparent figure suddenly appeared out of thin air.

It was a mature woman clad in green robes and long brown hair. Her aura and appearance resembled a fairy in mythical tales.

Despite her beautiful appearance, Lei Zhen's eyes remained crystal clear, void of any lustful behavior that any normal man would have toward beauty.

The mature woman also noticed his behavior and showed a surprise reaction.

'Interesting… he couldn't be a gay, right?' She thought.

Sometime later, the mature women revealed a golden orb for Lei Zhen to see.

"Please place your hand in the orb and begin your character creation," She said calmly.

Seemingly thinking this was a normal tutorial where a player has to create their first character, Lei Zhen followed her instruction and placed his hand on the orb.

[Does the New Player wish to integrate his body figure and appearance for Magnolia?]

Instantly, a system prompt popped up and asked Lei Zhen a simple question.

Lei Zhen rubbed his chin slightly, pondering over the answer he should give.

A few seconds later, Lei Zhen asked, "What happens if I refuse to integrate my body figure and appearance for Magnolia?"

"Then Magnolia would kindly ask the new player to create a whole new character himself from scratch."



"How long does that usually take?"

"Given how Magnolia is a 100% immersive VRMMORPG game, the player must feel extremely comfortable in the new body and its movement. Hence, a brand new character creation would usually take around at least 3-5 hours to complete."

"..."

Hearing the mature woman's response, Lei Zhen was no longer in the mood to try to create his character creation.

After all, it would be a pain to waste the next 3-5 hours customizing his character. In addition to that, there was no guarantee he would create a good character which would make his previous effort wasted.

"Umm, I'll just take the default setting," Lei Zhen answered.

Bzzzt

As soon as Lei Zhen responded to the system prompt, a scanner showed up and began to scan around Lei Zhen.

Lei Zhen remained still as he didn't want any mishaps to occur during this process.

[Please spread your arms out so that we can get precise details]

Seeing the new prompt, Lei Zhen spread his arms out as the scanner analyzed every body part of him.

Thankfully, the scanner had an x-ray function that didn't require Lei Zhen to strip his clothes. Otherwise, it would be an awkward experience for him.

Once the scanner finished analyzing Lei Zhen, it retracted into a speck of tiny dust, and the mature woman nodded her head.

"Character body figure and appearance complete. The new player can continue the next process." She said, snapping her finger.

[Choose a name and your game class]

"Uh… I don't know the game class available in Magnolia." Lei Zhen said awkwardly.

Shan Lin had only explained the function of the MagnoPod to him, but never did he expect that Lei Zhen was completely clueless about the game class in Magnolia.

Thus, he had never bothered explaining the different types of game classes in Magnolia for Lei Zhen to choose from.

Meanwhile, the woman held a dumbfounded expression at Lei Zhen.

'Seriously? The game has been out for 4 years already, and there is still someone as ignorant as him. Sigh, what a waste of my time…' The woman thought.

"There are a total of 7 game classes such as Knight, Mage, Archer, Enchanter, Assassin, Paladin, and Crowd Controller." She said without thinking.

Afterward, a screen of each class was shown to Lei Zhen. The screen explained each individual class of their strengths and weaknesses.

[Knight: A strong and sturdy class that is capable of tanking huge monsters for the team. Due to its sheer size, the speed of a Knight is rapidly reduced and is hard to maneuver with it. Uses a sword and shield at the same time.]

[Mage: A class filled with an abundant amount of mana to cast multiple strong spells toward an enemy. Uses a wand and has weak defenses.]

[Archer: A self-explanatory class that utilized bow and arrows. Despite its classic weaponry, an archer is not to be underestimated.]

[Enchanter: A fancy word for players that buff their teammate. Uses a wand and is most well-known as a healer.]

[Assassin: They live in the shadows, hide in the mist, and attack when the opportunity arises. With their swift agility movement, they can assassinate others that had their guards lowered. Uses a dagger and has low health points.]

[Paladin: Just like a Knight, a paladin uses a sword and shield. However, the shield is lighter and less durable. A unique feature of a paladin is that it could self-heal and does not require an Enchanter. Though its low mana usage is a problem to sustain itself.]

[Crowd Controller: An Area of Effect(AOE) controller of the field. Can stun, stasis, paralysis, and anything. In other words, JUST PICK ME!]

As Lei Zhen finished reading through all the classes, he was completely dumbfounded by the description of the Crowd Controller class.

"Why does it look like the Crowd Controller is begging to be chosen?" Lei Zhen asked the woman, hoping for an answer.

Of all the classes, it was only the Crowd Controller class that looked extremely abnormal to him.

Meanwhile, the woman remained calm as she turned around. "If the class seems desperate to be begging, then you might as well choose it."

"..."

Her action made Lei Zhen think the situation is even more suspicious.

"I think I will choose some other classes-"

BZZZT

Before Lei Zhen could even finish his words, an alarm began to go off, and a red error prompt appeared in front of Lei Zhen.

[ERROR!]

DING!

[Character Creation Completed!]
