Chapter 49 A Big Discovery

When Lei Zhen successfully cooked the Frenzied Wolf alive, he was just expecting to receive a few experience points.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ After all, it wasn't even a high-level monster compared to the Goblin Mob and Arachne's Spawnling.

Thus, Lei Zhen was completely stunned when he saw the system prompt telling him that he had leveled up.

And it wasn't just a single level, but three levels in total, meaning he was now level 5.

"H-H-How is that possible?" Lei Zhen rubbed his eyes to make sure his eyes weren't playing any tricks.

No matter how many times he rubbed his eyes, the system prompt words remained the same.

He had indeed leveled up three times for killing the Frenzied Wolf. And even though he should be happy about it, things just got more complicated for him.

"What is going on? Is the curse on me gone? Or is this another bug that I've encountered?" Lei Zhen began mumbling.

Racking his brain up for a long time, Lei Zhen came to a conclusion. The killing method this time was different from before.

Previously, the Goblin Mob and Arachne's Spawnlings were killed using the skills provided by the game.

However, this time, Lei Zhen used fire to burn the Frenzied Wolf alive, something that was not a part of the skill tree.

"Does that mean as long as I use another method unrelated to the skills on the skill tree to deal the final blow, it would give me the normal experience I'm supposed to receive?" Lei Zhen muttered.

To prove whether his deduction was true or not, Lei Zhen decided to go to another location to dig another traphole.

It was unfortunate that he could not loot the corpse of the Frenzied Wolf because it was burned to a crisp with nothing left. Despite that, Lei Zhen was not pained by it since he managed to gain a hint of his predicament.

A bit of loss in the process was nothing compared to being able to level up.

With this mindset, Lei Zhen's motivation was higher than it could possibly ever be.

And this night was considered a nightmare for the Frenzied Wolf. A nightmare that every surrounding Frenzied Wolf would forever remember.

Ding!

[You have leveled up!]

Ding!

[You have leveled up!]

Throughout the night, Lei Zhen's level was rising like the high tide until it finally reached its peak at level 12.

"Woo, I don't know the reason behind this, but I can just use fire as the final blow to kill my enemy while stunning them." Lei Zhen laughed at the sight of his level.

When he leveled up, there were skill points available for him to upgrade his skill.

He directly unlocked the [Decaying Poison] and managed to upgrade it to level 2. As for his [Stun], Lei Zhen managed to upgrade it to level 3, increasing the stun duration.

[Stun: Level 3

Stun Duration: 8 seconds

Cost: 110 Mana

Description: A basic crowd control skill used to daze one enemy, rendering them immobilized and the enemy is unable to attack during the stun duration. Stun is now capable of stunning two enemies in one casting. Stun duration is dependent on the level of the skill.]

[Decaying Poison: Level 2

Poison Mist Duration: 12 seconds

Cost: 130 Mana

Description: Create a field of crippling poison mist. Those who are on the field are slowed by 25 percent and take continuous damage based on the percentage of the enemy's health. Duration of the poison mist is dependent on the skill of the level.]

With the two skills being upgraded, there were pros and cons to it.

First, the stun duration had been increased but the cost of mana for activation had also increased drastically. In addition to that, his stun could now be cast upon two enemies at once, allowing him to immobilize two enemies.

As for Decaying Poison, the slow field affects the enemies by 25 percent instead of 20 percent which is a crucial factor. Of course, that was at the cost of the mana cost being raised by a large margin.

"Phew, if it wasn't for the effect of Crowd Controller, then with my current mana, I would only be able to use 1 stun and 1 Decaying Poison before running out of mana." Lei Zhen analyzed and checked his current stats.

[Name: Lei Zhen

Class: Crowd Controller

Level: 12

(Health Point) HP: 756/756

(Mana Point) MP: 265/265

(Attack) Atk: 19 (+5)

(Defense) Def: 15 (+5)

(Intelligence) Int: 24

(Wisdom) Wis: 18

(Dexterity) Dex:17

(Speed) Spd: 16]

Crowd Controller Effect: Any crowd control skills mana consumption is reduced by half and their effects are multiplied by tenfold.

While reading his stats, Lei Zhen didn't notice anything wrong until he read his Crowd Controller Effect.

"Wait a minute, wouldn't my stun duration last longer if it's multiplied by tenfold? How come the stun duration became the original duration all of a sudden?" He was astonished by the description of his unique class effect.

It was only now that Lei Zhen realized his problem might be bigger than he originally thought. It wasn't just his experience that was cursed, but even his unique class effect was being affected as well.

This big discovery came as a shock to him.

Now that he realized this, Lei Zhen also recalled stunning the Goblin Mob for 50 seconds. Yet the battle earlier with the Frenzied Wolf, the stun duration only lasted 3 seconds.

The Frenzied Wolf battle had misdirected him and caused him to forget about his unique class effect and made him think like he was using some normal crowd control skill.

'When did this happen?' Lei Zhen began to ponder when his stun duration was changed.

"During the Arachne's Dungeon… did the spawnling receive the full stun duration or not?" He questioned himself but was unable to remember the details since he was in a tight situation at that time to focus on these details.

Frustrated, Lei Zhen raised his fist and punched a nearby tree.

Not only was he ruined in the real world, but even in the virtual world, he was somehow cursed, and he still doesn't even know how it happened.

Taking a few deep breaths, Lei Zhen calmed himself and decided to go through his inventory just in case he forgot something else.

And when he scanned through his inventory, Lei Zhen was on the verge of banging his head on the tree as well.

"How the hell did I forget about this item as well?" Lei Zhen felt like crying when he clicked on the [Mystery??? Box] that he had neglected for a long time.
