Chapter 55 Summoned Monsters

Kate didn't have time to bother with how Lei Zhen arrived because the situation had become more drastic with the arrival of two new monsters.

'Damn, the hounds still chase after me even though I came down here already?' Lei Zhen clicked his tongue as he subtly glanced at Kate.

She was the only one capable of slaying the hounds and his only hope to make it out alive.

Meanwhile, Kate Norton glinted her eyes as she held a grim expression.

"Hounds of Nightmare… The black mage must have left if he had these two hounds coming after me instead." She muttered in disbelief.

What was more important than killing her right now?

She knew that the black mage wanted her dead since he had revealed himself already and it would be terrible for him if she escaped this crisis.

Alas, she could not think properly when the monster wave and the two hounds began attacking simultaneously.

Luckily for her, Lei Zhen had already regained some of his mana a bit and hurriedly used [Stun] and [Decaying Poison] together, allowing Kate to have some time to kill the weaker monsters first.

'At this rate, we are going to be swarmed sooner or later. Just how can the monsters pour in constantly?' Lei Zhen wondered silently. The area around them was laid with corpses of monsters. Yet there seemed to have an endless stream of monsters.

This caused Lei Zhen to wonder if the monsters weren't natural, meaning they aren't from this area at all.

"Could the monsters be artificially spawned?" He muttered.

Unable to comprehend the situation, Lei Zhen had no choice but to send a quick message to Tang Qiaolian, asking if there was a monster summoning spell in Magnolia.

While waiting for a reply from her, Lei Zhen continued to assist Kate, stalling the two hounds purposely. The two hounds were the most dangerous ones and their ferociousness was enough to even cause them to tremble in fear.

If it weren't for the high resistance of Kate, they'll probably be overwhelmed by now.

"Lei Zhen, you should just leave when I create an opening for you." Kate suddenly shouted.

"The monsters have their target on me and as long as you leave, I want you to send a message to a person in the Yors Castle for me."

After an ongoing prolonged fight, Kate knew her limit was coming soon, and she knew the monsters were able to locate her no matter what, causing her to stay here to fight to the death.

Hence, she decided to let Lei Zhen leave and ask him to tell a person about what happened.

"You can forget about it. I'm not leaving without you." Lei Zhen shook his head and refused her request. He might not want to be here, but he wasn't going to be a coward and ditch a woman alone for his safety.

"Just hold on for another minute or so. I might have a solution to this problem soon." He added, hoping that Tang Qiaolian would reply soon.

Seeing his adamant tone and resolution, Kate could only nod her head to try her best to hold on. Arguing in the middle of the fight was the biggest taboo one can do.

As she continued to try her best, a crack could be seen given how some monsters were able to inflict a large amount of damage on her despite the monsters being affected by the Decaying Poison.

The Decaying Poison would have been a powerful spell if Lei Zhen had the effect of his Unique Class, but he was cursed, so it was weakened to the point that it was a waste of mana to cast.

Sometime later, Lei Zhen finally heard a reply from Tang Qiaolian.

According to her words, all summoning monsters have a distinct symbol that could be seen somewhere. And that the only way to stop it is to destroy the summoning location setup or the caster ran out of mana.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "Kate, can you see any similar symbols on the monsters?" Lei Zhen shouted.

"Symbols?" Kate raised an eyebrow.

What does that have to do with their current predicament?

Nevertheless, she began to inspect the monsters she had slain and noticed an infinity-looking symbol on the right leg of the monster.

"There's some sort of infinity symbol on the right leg of each monster." She quickly replied, not knowing what this information would do.

"I see…" Lei Zhen could now confirm his suspicion with the current information he had obtained. The next step was to follow Tang Qiaolian's instruction to locate and destroy the summoning process.

After all, the monsters had never stopped decreasing but were gradually increasing, indicating the caster might have some solution to quickly regenerate his mana or might have a large amount of mana, to begin with.

"Kate, I'm going to search for the summoning setup to destroy." Lei Zhen ran toward her and told her.

A few seconds later, Kate nodded her head after hearing his plan.

"Okay, I'm going to unleash a powerful skill and create a path." She said decisively.

"Oh right, take some of these potions when you are low on health and mana." Lei Zhen said and handed over the health potion and mana potion that he got from creating the account.

He had only recently found out about it after scanning through his inventory. Not to mention, there was never a need for him to use these potions from the beginning, so he had it saved till now.

Kate didn't bother to question where he had gotten these high-quality potions and simply grabbed them.

After storing them, she unleashed a powerful sword skill, shooting out a beam of light that seemed similar to a plasma cannon, creating a straight and wide path.

"Go now!"

"Got it! Make sure to stay strong and wait for my return." Lei Zhen wasted no time and dashed out. The monsters didn't care about his escape since they were summoned with one motive only.

As for the Hounds of Nightmare, Lei Zhen gladly used one of the Robe of the Archmagi's saved spell slots to give the two Hounds a stun as a gift.

His stun was upgraded and could stun two enemies at once if they are close to each other.

"See ya later, hounds!" Lei Zhen smirked and hurriedly changed his vision using the system to detect the surge of mana flowing direction.
