The atmosphere instantly turned awkward when Kate openly pleaded to spare Prince Leon's life for his crime.

"King Francis Norton, Princess Kate, I believe the two of you are correct in your judgment, but how about we put this matter aside first and allow everyone to rest properly." Lei Zhen stepped in and suggested.
"Chancellor is right. I should have let you and the others rest properly first before anything else." Francis Norton took the hint and instantly ordered the soldiers to lead them to guest rooms.
As for the two princes, they were still technically criminals so they were placed in prison cells.
Sometime later, the guards brought Lei Zhen and Griselda to their room respectively.
Although it was a guest room, the room was more of a luxurious presidential suite instead.
Lei Zhen wanted to jump directly to the new bed that looked extremely comfortable.
Alas, he was stopped by the guard when he was informed that the king wished to speak to him.
"Can it not be delayed for tomorrow?" Lei Zhen asked in an exhausted tone.
"Please don't make it difficult for me, chancellor." The guard lowered his head and spoke timidly.
With Lei Zhen's current fame and status, who doesn't know he was someone on the rise with unlimited power. Not a single guard in the royal palace nor nobles would be foolish enough to offend such a person.
"Can't you have the commanding officer go on my behalf instead?" Lei Zhen asked, still hoping to hop into that big and comfy bed.
"But His Majesty wished to hand you some rewards for your merit and for rescuing Princess Kate." The guard said, remaining perfectly still.
"Rewards?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow in shock. "Why didn't you tell me this sooner?"
After saying that, Lei Zhen hurriedly left his guest room and rushed to the king, leaving the guard speechless.
Sometime later, Lei Zhen arrived at the meeting room and Kate was already there, chatting with Francis Norton.
"Lei Zhen, you're here." Kate turned around and greeted him. Now that it was only the three of them, she didn't need to refer to him as chancellor.
"Mhmm, I've heard His Majesty wishes to talk with me." Lei Zhen said, keeping a cool and calm demeanor while secretly craving the rewards.
'Give me that [Tome of Demise] already. I can already feel my hand itching for it.' Lei Zhen thought.
"Lei Zhen, is it possible for me to see your real appearance?" Francis Norton asked respectfully. Either way, Lei Zhen was the key person who resolved their internal conflict.
Hence, Francis Norton didn't dare to command him when he knew Lei Zhen was just a chancellor in name and the warning he received from Robert Knightman previously.
Lei Zhen was a man that did not bend for anyone and would only take a soft approach.
"That's fine by me." Lei Zhen said and slowly took off his mask, revealing his appearance. And honestly, it was like a breath of fresh air once the mask was taken off.
"A fine handsome man indeed." Francis Norton smiled and chuckled softly.
"It's no wonder why my stubborn daughter would listen to each and every word of yours. It really isn't wrong to say once the daughter is all grown, they would leave for another man." He joked heartily, causing Kate to blush in embarrassment.
"Father, please don't talk nonsense." Kate gave a slight glare and warned her father.
"Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore." Francis Norton said and turned serious.
"Lei Zhen, I suppose you know why I called you here besides rewarding you for your merits, right?"
Lei Zhen nodded his head. "It's about the Ferold's Ring in my body, right?"
"You're indeed a very smart lad. I suppose you want to extract it as soon as possible given the negative effect it had on you."
"Pretty much… I have been having some difficulties ever since the Ferold's Ring was attached to me forcefully."
"Haha, then let's head over to the chamber so that we can extract it from you." Francis Norton laughed heartily and said.
'Chamber?' Lei Zhen was dumbfounded that they needed to go to another place to extract it.

Of course, that was all on his mind and Lei Zhen wasn't going to voice his opinion aloud. As long as he could get rid of the Ferold's Ring and the curse, he would be satisfied by it.
Sometime later, Lei Zhen followed Kate and Fracnis Norton as they arrived at a fairly secret chamber that required a special key to unlock.
"Please lay on the table there, Lei Zhen." Francis Norton said, pointing at a table that had numerous formations beneath it.
As for Kate, she held a look of astonishment since this was her first time here.
"How come I didn't know about this place, father?" She asked.
"That's because this place is meant for the inheritor, meaning you are now my successor." Francis Norton said bluntly, directly telling her that she would be the next queen after him.
Before Kate could respond, Francis Norton activated the formation and grabbed a small knife, slit his finger a little bit to drip some blood.
Soon, a blinding light illuminated the room and Lei Zhen felt a sharp pain in his chest as a physical object emerged from his body.
The Ferold's Ring was a delicate piece of jewelry, made of shimmering silver chain. It was adorned with a series of small, sparkling diamonds that caught the light as it moved, casting a rainbow of colors across the room.
And with the Ferold's Ring extracted, Lei Zhen felt like his body had undergone a new change and he felt revitalized, almost as if he was mutated into a stronger being.
'That cursed ring is finally out of my body.' Lei Zhen thought to himself, feeling relieved.
