Chapter 129 Military Tally

A few minutes had gone by since Gerald left in a hurry, and Kate was staring at Lei Zhen with a confused expression.

She had learned that he wasn't the type to do something unnecessary such as recommending a person of worth to her unless it was for something important.

"What do you want Gerald to do?" She asked, getting straight to the topic.

Her current demeanor was a sharp contrast to the time when she was clueless during the rebellious war between her deceased elder brothers.

"Simple, it's time to pay a debt of gratitude for someone." Lei Zhen took off his mask and smirked, sitting opposite of her.

"A debt of gratitude?" Kate raised an eyebrow.

Lei Zhen nodded his head, snapping his finger for Griselda to place the necessary information for Kate to see.

Once the documents were placed, Kate's eyes widened in surprise when she realized what type of information was written there.

"Is this for real?" She asked in a shocked tone.

"Now do you see why I recommended Gerald?"

"Gerald was the one that wrote this information?"

"Mhmm, such talent should not be neglected. Otherwise, who knows if others might snatch him away." Lei Zhen chuckled softly.

He then proceeded to explain his plan on establishing a private information channel with Gerald leading it.

"But we already have our own information channel?" Kate said, seemingly confused why he would want to establish another one.

Alas, Lei Zhen flicked his finger on her forehead and shook his head.

Kate looked aggrieved by the sudden action and held a pitiful look. "What did I do wrong this time?"

"Asking a stupid question." Lei Zhen flat-out said.

And he continued, "And here I thought you have improved, but it seems like there are still more things for you to learn."

Before Kate could even respond to those words, Lei Zhen turned around and commanded Griselda, "Tell her what she did wrong there."

pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ Griselda twitched her brows.

Her facial expression showed something like 'what does this have to do with me'.

It was clear that she didn't want to be dragged into the conversion, but seeing the aggrieved and glaring look from Kate, she knew she had no other choice.

"No offense, Princess Kate, but during the wartime, could you receive any reliable information?" Griselda asked.

And she continued, "We lacked a ton of information during the wartime and had to be cautious at all times. If it weren't for Lei Zhen's meticulous planning and deployment, we might have lost the war."

Kate held a perplexed expression, clearly hearing this for the first time. She didn't expect their information channel to be so unreliable.

'No wonder why Lei Zhen flicked my forehead.' She rubbed on her forehead, feeling that it was a well-deserved flick.

"Do you need any help with it then?" Kate offered. Her trust in him was a lot so she didn't mind giving him the full authority of establishing another information channel.

"Nothing, I just need your approval, and let me deploy whoever I want into it." Lei Zhen calmly responded.

"Also, I'm going to need to borrow a batch of an army to apprehend the black mage," He added.

"No need to borrow a batch. I'll just give you this military tally, so you will have full authority over any armies you wish to control." Kate said straightforwardly.

Meanwhile, her straightforwardness made Lei Zhen suspicious.

No matter how much she trusted him, there was no possible way she would give him full military authority.

Unless there was a factor that made her make such a decision.

And there was only one person that Lei Zhen could think of.

"Have you secretly met with Robert Knightman?" Lei Zhen asked, his face turned solemn.

Kate smiled awkwardly at the question.

"Hehe, you caught me good." She confessed.

"I knew it. Other than that old man, no one else could possibly make you do this."

"T-That's not really true, Lei Zhen. Even without Instructor Robert, I would probably still make this decision. After all, you did control the whole military during the war and I was just listening to your order." She stuck her tongue out, trying to act cute.

"Can the two of you get to the main point already?" Griselda suddenly interjected. An annoyed expression could be seen on her face.

"Every time we want to discuss something, we get sidetracked and have nothing done. Let's just get this show on the road."

"Indeed, Griselda has a point." Lei Zhen nodded his head in agreement.

They had been sidetracked once again and he needed to get the main point down first.

"Anyway, here's the military tally and I have long passed the order already. Instructor Robert did say you might ask for it regarding the capturing of the black mage." Kate said, placing an animal tally-like on the desk.

The military tally is what a commander would use to command the soldiers.

Sometimes it was even more important to listen to the holder of the military tally than the actual king or queen.

Thus, being given such an item was akin to the full trust a king or queen would have in you.

And normally, one would feel happy about receiving such trust, but for Lei Zhen, it was like a burden.

Being tasked with such an item, he was sure his life would get even more tedious than before.

'Great, I'm forever forced to do a lot of paperwork.' Lei Zhen cried inwardly.

Kate doesn't seem to want to entertain Lei Zhen anymore either as she hurriedly grabbed another document to read.

Her intention was crystal clear: the military tally is yours now whether you like it or not.

Twitching his mouth, Lei Zhen could only reluctantly store the military tally in his inventory and put on his mask as he left alongside Griselda.

"What we're going to do now, Lei Zhen," Griselda asked once they were out of the office.

"Meeting with someone." Lei Zhen calmly replied.

"24 hours have passed and we'll need to meet with the future third member of our guild, Zero Fear."
